regarding Deus Ex: Human Revolution ...is there serious issues with stuttering framerates?

i've seen quite a few people complaining on the Steam forum about that.

It may depend on your setup. I didn't see any big frame rate issues in my playthrough.
Disable vsync if needed

As I probably always tell people, Mirror's Edge is pretty much one of my favorite games ever, if not my absolute favorite. I've probably gifted it to 8+ people over the years, and played through it many times on my own. The keyboard and mouse control works really well with it, and it's a really good-looking game in places, thanks to the baked lighting. The soundtrack is pretty sweet too.

If I were to give any advice to someone completely new to the game, it would be to play on normal difficulty, but turn it down to easy if the combat is frustrating you. Easy makes the combat easier, but doesn't affect anything else as far as I know. Also, don't try to kill every enemy, but don't try to avoid every enemy either since some places may be a lot less frustrating. Then once you know the levels, you can start blowing through it while not even touching non-boss enemies in every single area of the game besides one garage. :)

If you're really inclined and you own UT3, you can actually mess around with some iffy unreal editor support. And you should be able to use some custom maps people have made without even messing with the editor, but you need to be comfortable with copying files since it's not at all designed for modding.

Last but not least, the time trials are good, and you may find that there are some crazy techniques/shortcuts you might not expect to be possible.

Hmm, I'm really tempted to jump on that Serious Sam deal, but I can't justify it after spending a hundred bucks on Xenoblade and The Last Story today. Not to mention, I've got quite the backlog built up now.

Pretty tempted for mirrors edge, but not sure if worth it. Don't get me wrong, I loved the game but am I really going to play it again?

The Mirror's Edge DLC is unfortunately not compatible with the Steam version, so if you're interested in playing that (which you should be), getting it on Amazon might be a better idea.

There's no way for us to tell you that unless we know what kind of games you like and what you consider "worth it" for a $5 game.

Do you want really long replay value? I've played the campaign many times, and I've gone through some of the time trials. Those can last you a long time if you LIKE time trials. If you want say, a 40-hour RPG, then Mirror's Edge isn't going to fill that spot for you though.

Can you tell us what you like and what you would be looking for?

Don't play pacifist if it's your first time through Mirrors Edge. I did that, and frustrations abounded in some places.
I felt it was more fun that way as I remember the controls for guns were horrific and you had limited ammo anyways. I suppose a few spots near the end were rough but it ends up being a bit of a puzzle game.

This is so unbeliveably wrong.

-Shit art design
-Shit enemy design
-Shit encounter design
-Shit gunplay
-Shit voice-acting
-Dreaful translation leading to even worse humor than DNF
-Zero variety
-Tiresome
-Drab
-Repetitive

Please explain where the "goodness" was hidden in all that shit.

I wasn't really asking if you guys think I should get it. I have already had all the enjoyment the game is going to give me, I got the platinum on PS3. I think I'll skip out, although $5 is like nothing

I don't think you understand Serious Sam. At all. Plus that's like... your opinion man.

Ah, I didn't realize you'd already played (platinum'd!) it on PS3. Then yeah, only get it on PC if you have a nice computer and want to enjoy the graphics, and try the keyboard + mouse controls. :)

Side note, does anyone else feel like some fairly well known games have been showing up on the daily deal lately, like Mirror's Edge? I felt like back in the good old days, the daily deal was only for stuff like Big Joe's Horse Farm Simulator.

Whoa, Joe has his own horse farm sim?

Not when it was me memorizing a pattern through trial and error that took advantage of bad ai.

That's not really tense. It's terrible.
If I recall correctly, certain enemies would follow you, and pure patterns would not always work anyway. Personally, I feel like there were some very tense moments when I would think I was hiding underneath some stairs or something in the server room or the blue room, and then have some guard silently follow me right around the corner.

At any rate, doing the server room without weapons is a pain on normal+ aside from the heavy machine gunner, so yeah. I think the feeling of running for your life from certain enemies earlier in the game was quite well done, however.

We can only dream.

I don't disagree with you, that's one of my least favourite sections of the game, but when i do try to solely run through it, I always feel tension building, even if I look ridiculous doing it.

Don't get me wrong I love the game. I was just suggesting that people not play pacifist on their first playthrough. That room was my one main sticking points on a no shooting run.

Animalboogey we're talking about mirrors edge here bud.

I don't have any problems understanding SS, I think the whole sub-genre it inhabits is a piece of shit.

I will throw in an e-pinion and say I disagree. :D I think silly unrealistic shooting games can be quite fun. I don't know if I played SS3 though. I tried some SS game that had multiplayer and it was pretty awesome.

Agreed. I got stuck on the big blue room BEFORE the server room, and I probably messed with the level editor for a year or so before ever finishing the main game, lol. Then it turned out there's a really easy way to beat the blue room without shooting anyone... :X

Well, if there is a better place to insert a "no shit" I don't know what it is. You mean someone's opinion is subjective AND,like, his opinion?

Wonders will never cease.

Hating an entire genre implies he wouldn't enjoy the game regardless of how good it is, so why take his opinion seriously?

It's one of like 5 games that fall under the subgenre of "run through vaguely designed levels and fight off wave after wave of enemies." If you for some reason love that school of (lack of) design, by all means buy it and enjoy it.

People told me it was significantly better than First and Second Encounter, so I picked it up on sale for 11$ and played it in co-op with a friend. It was just as bad as those two games and even worse at some points. The last level is insanely designed.

It's a subgenre and there are like two games in it. This and Painkiller are about the extent of it at this point so I'd say hating the entire sub-genre is not a tall order.

Plus, my comment wasn't about comments you made after he said that but rather when you pointed out that the opinion he gave was subjective (a trait common in the opinion.) Just so you are aware, pointing out that his opinion is subjective doesn't invalidate it.

Fair enough, lets get things back on track
