it should just be automatically added to your account, though you might have to restart steam to make it show up (assuming that valve has indeed added it to the bundle already)

You have to run the configuration tool at least once after installing, or else the game crashes.

Someone in the Steam forums mentioned that installing and running the Generations demo fixed the Sonic 4 Ep1 crashing, I guess you could try either that or installing visual c++ 2005, 2008 and 2010 runtimes?

I can't download the demo because I own the full game. It wants me to download the full game at 8.6 GB. I don't think I'm going to bother with that. Going to try uninstalling Visual C++, if I can find them.

EDIT : Tried running the exe as Administrator. that worked for me.

... Seriously though, even if you genuinely want Sonic 4 it sounds like the Steam version is one of the last versions you should jump at, being apparently a wretched port unlike Sonic Generations. The post this post was responding to seems to confirm that.

Interesting side story about Snuggle Truck: it started its life as Smuggle Truck, a game about transporting illegal immigrants. After the App store rejected the game, they reskinned it.

The best part is that they missed some Mexicans that hide in the backgrounds. So you have Mexicans watching you smuggle stuffed animals across the border instead of them.

Apart from that minor hiccup during first startup(I had more trouble with various other games before, this is pc gaming after all.) The game looks decent and runs smooth so far. Completed the whole of Splash Hill zone and so far it's not been as bad as has been made out to be. This isn't classic Sonic, this is modern Sonic mashed into classic Sonic gameplay like a reverse Sonic Generations or something. Sonic makes decent speed at some points and it pretty much is a throwback to memories past so far. Liking it more than I did most Sonic DS games and kinda regret I hadn't tried this one earlier.

Also, those who have AMD/ATI graphics cards can force anti-aliasing in the graphics drivers. This only works at 1280x720 though.
