When you unlock it, it's added to the item pool. To get it added to your collection you have to pick it up when it shows up in a future run.

Is there another "dunder" around or place to get cheap steam games? I'm always never up or on when he updates his store and I see nothing put people reserving white boxes. I barely got Castlevania the other day lol.

Yes, but do they show up on your collection page? From my googling and viewing the wikia it looks like they arent on the collection page. And Im unsure if theyre required for golden/plat. If so I have no clue which ive gotten as they seemingly arent in collection.

I still suck big time at Dark Souls, but this time managed to beat
the Taurus Demon
on my first try. Of course, I'm playing as a pyromancer, whose balls of fire made it much easier.

Don't lean too much on that, you'll only make it harder on yourself later.

Yeah, I'm trying to get better at hand-to-hand combat instead, and almost didn't use it at all outside of that boss fight. But I'm still getting my ass handed to me, those knights are impossible to kill.

My laptop has had overheating issues recently, which I've been getting help from Tech Support GAF to fix. Starting yesterday when I launch into Big Screen Mode, it hangs up for a few seconds initially. Would overheating cause this to happen? Other symptoms I've had are delayed key input (especially when connecting to an external monitor) and the framerate in Saints Row 3 becoming worse than when I played it weeks ago.

Actually this is the second time I'm attempting to play this game. And right now I'm exactly at the part where I stopped last time, right after
killing the Taurus Demon and going to the right on the bridge where the dragon is sitting.

If you're playing as a Pyromancer, grab the reinforced club from the merchant in Burg and learn to use its guard break and R2 leap attack (it'll carry you through the game).

Otherwise, grab a knife and learn to backstab and parry. On my second character, I rolled a rogue and just plain spanked the first black knight with my starting knife.

On putting visual novels on steam:

Analogue's case is a bit different, and I heard it's Steam who approached her to put her game there. I know some people that tried to put their visual novel on Steam, but all are refused since they don't think visual novel is a game. Some people put their visual novels on Steam Greenlight, but most of them just for commercial, since as far as I know there is no visualnovel goes greenlit there.
I'm thinking to see the situation first, some response on steam are just too horrible.
It's really hard to put a game on steam.

I'm having trouble launching Spelunky. It just minimizes to the tray when I start it, and when I maximize it, it just minimizes itself again. Did this happen to anyone else?

Cherry Tree isn't really a visual novel. (Or maybe it is, I don't know, I don't really want to argue genre definitions here.) You can run around in CTHSCC, though, so it at least is presented as more "game" than visual novel. It's closer to an RPG (minus of course the combat and midnight channels) than it is to, say, 999.

It took me three goes to change the resolution to windowed, with a hard crash to desktop each time :|

Maybe try getting into the settings files manually?

The running around is basically choosing from an option tree though, but yeah, I guess it could be seen as more "gamey". Still, I'd love for more visual novels to make the jump, and it makes me sad that they got shot down because "they're not games". Futuremark isn't a game either. You need a budget isn't a fucking game. Where's the problem, Valve?

Visual novels as sex games are just so boring anyways. If you want to jerk it, just look at porn instead of the IV drip you'd get from those kind of games anyways.

Yeah, but you see what I meant. I mean, compare and contrast to Dear Esther.

Indie Game: The Movie isn't a game, but it's classified as a game on Steam and even has trading cards.

Oh yes, I understand perfectly. Still, clinging to the old "visual novels are porn" thing or saying they're not games is just wrong. They're basically the evolution of the old choose your own adventure books mixed with text adventures. Ah well...
