Worst thing about the Mass Effect series is that they refuse to sell a complete package with all the DLC (or at least put the DLC on sale). I don't want to buy Bioware points EA.

EA knows you don't want to buy BioWare points. The problem is that it's simultaneously so lucrative that they won't give up 30% of the sales AND so not lucrative that they don't care enough to come up with a better solution in 2014.

They were so lazy they still force you to buy BP to buy the ME3 DLC directly from Origin.

Amazon was selling 2400 BP, including ME2, for half off during their holiday sale, IIRC. I couldn't convince myself to buy it. I didn't want to have to look up how much more I would need to get all the DLC for ME3.

Wasn't there some major problem with Bioware points anyway (other than the actual problem of Bioware points existing)

If you want to cast the blame at anything it would have to be EA's old convoluted account system that you ended up with an account, username and login details for multiple services. If you got an Origin account go look at your account details and you might have about 10+ aliases. Now that everything has a unified Origin account it's easier to sell you stuff without resorting to a stupid amount of login details.

It also came at a time when EA wasn't really doing DLC for PC (Dead Space 1 had lots on consoles but none on PC, Dead Space 2 didn't get Severed and had all the preorder bonuses already unlocked in the first shop). There was a few exceptions like Mass Effect and Mirrors Edge but you could only get them through EADM. Bioware Points turned up around the time of Dragon Age Origins which I would imagine was due to the strong PC focus of that title and the masses of extra content it would be mad to turn down that extra revenue.

Just to chime in. If you don't see his avatar gone, he wasn't perma-banned. But since he pissed off Evilore, it could be a while.

Never argue with a mod, even if you are right.

Oh man, I'm going to miss him if this is true. :(

Well I have no desire to argue with anyone, whatever colour their username is. I just don't see any profit in it. I think the Mods are receptive to a differing point of view as long as it's respectful and not obviously ban worthy though. I've certainly seen members engaging in quite firm disagreement with Mods without being banned so it is possible. It's not just what you do but how you do it I think.

They weren't exactly half off however. Normally 3 DLC packs of 560 points go for 7$ each, while 800 points go for 10$, so a total of around 31$. The bundle at Amazon.com with ME2 was around 29$, so... not much of a discount.

I don't know how true this is, I've heard a fairly interesting answer for this. The internal EA studios don't trust each other and are in constant battle with each other. None of them thinks Origin going to survive (except dice maybe) and they don't trust sale figures via origin either. They've set up their own stores for DLC and refuse to integrate with origin as much as possible because they believe that they won't get their cut / it would be easier to shut them down. The Sims 3 store doesn't even use the same credit card system. EA would love everything to be Origin centric.

Seems like fan-fiction to me. EA's internal studios aren't exactly in the position to refuse the wishes of their parent company.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines of course.

This. 666 game, deus ex with vampires, really really really good story and characters, combat is kind of clunky and it's buggy without the patch, but that's why it's a PC game from before HL2 came out.

It was on sale for super cheap, once, ages ago. Still worth every penny.

Get the ENB for it to make it even more atmospheric and scary (enb in the haunted house had me almost Amnesia scared fuck)

Never argue with a mod, even if you are right.

Don't question the beautiful red flowers. They're always right, that's why they're red!

It sounds more like EA is an extremely bloated company that has terrible internal communication.

In the interests of science I went to check if there is any EA fan fiction. Turns out there's a whole wiki devoted to Battlefield 5 fan fiction. The internet is a very weird place.

The game checks your DLCs every time you launch it, sometimes it'll break down.

Really? I know that upon install the DLC .exe validates your packages with ME and ME 2 and you need to be online (I think the first ME DLC is keyless now though) but I've not had any problems with them offline after the first time. Same with DA:O but then again I do own the Ultimate Edition so that could be the reason.

ITAD's wishlist tracker just informed me that Injustice is 75% off ($12.49) over at GMG. I'd jump on it myself but there doesn't appear to be a general-use 20% coupon code to knock it down to $10.

$2.00 GMG credit though (in the US atleast), pretty much the same as a coupon when you know you're going to be buying from there again

I'm on the fence about Amalur still. I tried to install the demo but it keeps crashing repeatedly. However I'm still intrigued by the game and the fact that it almost never goes on sale entices me more. Would love some thoughts from those who've played it. Steam page says it has partial controller support. What does that mean?

Full controller support means you never need a mouse at any time.

Partial controller support means you might need a mouse on hand for installation, setup, etc.

For example, sometimes a game will have a launcher that needs to be configured.

Yeah. When I heard that there would be a sale on Bioware Points I head over to Amazon immediately. Such a let-down :/

If you consider ME2 to be worth 5$ (like in the last Steam sale), then that bundle could be seen a bit better, but the discount on those points would be still less than 25%

I'm not saying you can't, it's just very touchy. I guess I just I try to avoid most arguments with high ups. I just try to keep my head down, and move on.

I've seen it throughout my years on forums and other places. I've just learnt to avoid it to be safe.

I'm really curious as to which game this is. Whoever maintains the listing has done a good job of keeping things under wraps. Here are some highlights from the update history:

Added Install Config
...
registry/hkey_local_machine\software\valve\steam\test/string/test string 1: Steam is awesome
...
Added App Config
...
checkguid: steamworksexample.exe
...
launch/0/executable: bin32\crysis3.exe
...
Changed name Notepad › SteamTestApp
Added eulas

0/id: 6700_eula_0
0/name: Notepad EULA
0/url: http://store.steampowered.com/eula/6700_eula_0

The EULA in question offers nothing and the app is tied to just one sub: Sonydadc Comp. Somehow I doubt that Sony's disc-manufacturing arm is looking at releasing a game on Steam. ;)

speaking of origin, I actually like the look of the client, I sometimes even launches it just to look at it for a minute.

but I've never bought anything from the origin store
I don't have Origin on my PC ever since I upgraded to Win 8, just don't want it on my computer.

Okay, the internet's behaving extremely oddly around here, most websites are down, including Steam and Twitter, but not Facebook. :lol

I couldn't reach GAF for a while either, but it's partially up now. A few friends of mine have the same issue, so there's only one logical conclusion.

The Internet Wars have begun. Good luck, people.

I got banned by Evilore once because I complained that there were too many Steam threads. (Classed under thread whining.)

#TrueStory

Well now you run the main Steam thread, so there is that (well unless it was at the time then I guess it was an 'experience').

I don't know why I clicked on that EULA after what you said but just having "This is a test EULA" as a placeholder made me chuckle. I hope this isn't the rise of Sony's evil SecuROM relplacement.

As long as Tumblr endures I should be okay. :p

Just had a rather comical chat with one of my mates. He asked me "Have you played Daisy yet?" which had me a bit puzzled so I asked "No, not heard of that. What's Daisy about?" "You know that zombie mod that's now available as a separate game". By this point in time I'm pissing myself laughing "You mean Day Zed you clown". Oh how the wonders of language and different pronunciations travel.

1) Make game called "Daisy"
2) Throw a zombie mode in
3) PROFIT

This was early last year :lol although I haven't been banned since, so I've been quite lucky.

Oh yeah, I saw a a Valve ''E3'' Lanyard for sale today...

It will be one of the major battle zones in the war. The treasure trove of .gifs and porn contained within will be desired by many of the fighting factions. Millions will be slain. Saoirse gifs will be rationed. Anarchy will ensue.

Thanks to everyone who recommended Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
Definitely the best Splinter Cell game since Chaos Theory.

Yeah, the ME1 DLC key is now useless, thankfully EA did provide us with a new installer that doesn't need a key. Sometimes the DLC checking would freeze ME2, that's the only problem I've encountered this far.

JaseC will become the Queen-King of the New World Order, ruling from his upside-down continent with an iron fist. He will lurk in the shadows, Saoirse will be his concubine and face of his Dominion over the Earth. All will toil in the Steam mines, digging for ancient treasure and newly formed subs.

GMG's ears must have been burning because there's now a 20% discount code! But it doesn't work on Injustice. :(

If users were banned just for disagreeing with a Mod I would agree with you but they're not so all is well.

This gossip is relevant to my interests. Spill!

Well ultimately they are here to do a job that is often a thankless task where they have to put up with a lot of crap so antagonising them is probably not the wisest course to take :).

Right, time for XCOM! :D
