Is it just me, or is Hack, Slash, Loot really dull?

I mean, there's nothing glaringly wrong with the game per se. It's not horribly broken or anything. It's completely functional. It plays as advertised. I'm just finding it an incredibly boring experience. About the only thing playing it has done is to make me want to break out my tablet and play Pixel Dungeon.

I don't own the game but everything I've read about it since the game was released (both from roguelike players and PC gamers in general) has been negative.

You must be.
Seriously, I'm not hating on the game because it's "cool" or whatever.
I've been wrestling with this thing for 4 hours now, trying to herd and use my squadmates... but they're like cats... Cats that are determined to use up all their 9 lives.

It does take a bit of getting used to but once you understand the synchronicity between your squads abilities things get easier.

Try playing a bit more defensively. Use Carters lift ability plus the snipers shots in quick succession. Taunt an enemy to come towards you but lay a mine in front of you before you do.

There is a good game to enjoy on a mechanical level it just has a little bit of a learning curve. The story however is nonsensical so brace yourself if you even get to the end.

It doesn't work for me. I tried buying it for 50 cents and after clicking on the Paypal button, the page just reloads. Am I doing something wrong, or did they change that?
This kept happening to me right now but went through after retrying a few times. I didn't do anything differently from the previous tries, so I guess the site is just being glitchy.

I must be incredibly lucky or something because whatever I told my squad to do in the bureau they would do.

the battle focus system was such that you didn't have to wait on the AI to do their thing. pretty much circumvents the whole dumb as bricks AI squad mate thing most shooters have.
Did you play on the hardest difficulty? Because it's impossible not to miss them screwing up there. Lower difficulties they handle fine because they can take more hits.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
I really hate it when new cards appear on indie games that have 2GB~ file size with a very, very mediocre gameplay (Edna and Harvey).

Carter: 76 kills
Jin: 2 kills
Wesley: 3 kills

This pretty much sums up the Bureau AI.

Dude, you are clearly playing wrong. My team routinely had more kills than me as I was mostly support. Especially engineers and snipers. I healed and lifted enemies while my engineer sent out killer laser turrets and my sniper went stealth and one shot killed most enemies. I guess you just leave your AI partners to make decisions on their own?

Ah, if only you'd read a few posts more!
But yeah, no. Just had my second fight against a muton where they were 'focusing fire' and 'using' their abilities... FROM THE OTHER FUCKING END OF THE MAP, HIDING BEHIND A WALL. (read: doing fuck all)

Really don't know if I should get Witcher 2..I couldn't get into the first one.

Second one is way more better/easier to get into IMO. The first one feels heavily outdated to me whenever I play it. But yeah, for the sale price now I'd definitely say it's worth a shot.

Alright, I was willing to forgive a lot in LoS. The camera, the QTEs, the first four chapters... All terrible for sure, but I'm over the hump right?

No.

Vampire Wargames.

Why would anyone want this?

It took me 20 minutes to chip away at her last piece (vampire) with my last piece (necro) because of the ridiculous RNG turn system.

Twitch Plays Pokemon made more progress in that time than I did.

But yeah, no.

You have to micro manage your ai partners. Continuously order them into good cover because if you don't they will run out into the heat of battle. If you utilize all of their skills they won't have much time to make dumb mistakes. I actually enjoyed giving orders and watching Jabo and Vanzeggo lay waste to hordes of alien fools. My squad was pretty much death dealing specialists.

First one is janky as fuck. I'm about 75% done the first. It's a great game, but can be clunky and unresponsive. The first chapter or two are okay, but it gets better.

Can't wait to play TW2 though.

The hardest difficulty becomes impossible without them though. Counting kills is taking a very narrow view of their purpose.

Well, I'm playing on what it defaulted to, which is... second hardest?
It was basically shorthand for "these guys are useless."
I don't care about the kills so much as I care about the broken AI and the fact that you spend more time trying to get them to do the right thing between reviving them than actually progressing.

I'll tell you what, you are really making me want to give this game a try. I think i'll move it up after Far Cry 3.

Is Shooter fun? I'm not interested in Monsters since I've heard it's a tower defense game, and I'm not a fan of them. But Shooter looks cool.

It starts kinda slow but It's pretty good unless you're the type that wants to get every collectable. Then it becomes kinda tedious excavating every dirt mound for a diamond. I should go back to it.

It's still by far the easiest of the Steam Pixeljunk games to 100%.

Trying to do it with Monsters would be a very long exercise in frustration. As far as Eden, I kind of hit a wall with this one level where the gravity kept changing directions and put the game on backburner.

Thanks for the reminder.

Did Interstellar Marines seriously just give me a second copy to give to someone?

Yes. And when you activate the fancy one (I forget the name, the one in the BTA) you get ANOTHER copy to gift on steam

As far as I can tell, I'm one of the top reviews on the Jazzpunk page. I didn't even know it was getting helpful points or whatever, #highesthelpfulpercent. I didn't even look at it until some guy made a completely nonsensical comment on it about comparing it to ARMA.

titanfall is kind of interesting

I mean it doesn't run too well on my pc and it's ctd both times I've played it but it reminds me of the days I enjoyed cod

I get the impression things like the lock-on gun, invisibility and whatever else they come come up with will feel kinda bullshitty but at least there's no noobtube yet

If they were self sufficient, the game would be too easy. You can't have the AI just be killing machines without you needing to do anything. Thus they require constant direction, even where to stand is an important order. I know that probably doesn't sound fun to most, but as a strategy fan, I enjoyed telling them what to do.

I thought it was a great game personally.

I like strategy games. This... is not it.
Even if the AI isn't a total killing machine, some self-preserving instinct is... necessary.

Anyone grab Magicite? (its on early access) Sort of a Terraria x Rougelike-lite mashup. You craft items and fight enemies... and that's about as far as I've gotten. The game is hard as shit. You die in like 3 hits and have no way to recover HP until you find herbs to brew potions. And the environments are full of enemies and other hazards. I've taken over a dozen runs at the game and the majority of the time I die on the first enemy :(

Still, its surprisingly addictive like most rougelikes tend to be. Right now I'm reading through the wiki and subreddit trying to pick up some tips.

I'm sure most are tired of the 2D 8-bit indie game look by now but I like the neon-sheen the game has

It downloaded hella fast tho

I wonder if Origin uses some sort of funky proprietary compression for downloads, and the client decompresses it on the fly or something. I mean, the transfer speeds seem inflated, but when you look at the size of the games and how long it takes to download them through Origin, it's crazy quick. Maybe you are receiving that many mb/sec of data, just a compressed stream? This mystery's getting to me now~

Because it's five gb unpacking to 13 apparently. Not 13 gb downloading.

Yes, Origin's "download" speed is not actually measured, but calculated. It says it's a 13 gig install, but it downloads a 4 gig file. So when it downloads 2 gigs, it downloaded 50%, but it reports to you as downloaded 50% of 13 gigs. So your speed is "crazy" fast.

So, Guacamelee, what a masterpiece. Me and my sister completed it just moments ago and even the ending is astonishing. Top quality from beginning to end. Damn.

It feels so good when you realize you've beaten a future classic.

Activated both and only got one. Oh well, not like I'll ever be able to get rid of this one anyway.

I said you get a extra one from the fancy edition, not from the regular. And why would you activate both, it's the same game
