Videogames shouldn't even bother about filling any gaps. There are no gaps to be filled to begin with.

I really was just talking about "maturity", so not any games, but just those supposedly with an "higher" target.
Plots like the Heavy Rain one would get laughed asses off if it was a movie. It's apparently mature (advertised as if), but so full of naivety that it couldn't be seriously accepted in any older medium.

I think it's just a fault of the relatively younger age of videogames, so this is what I meant for "gap", not something like games should be more cinematic.

It's all here.
Basically, even singleplayer victories count and they're not just counting victories, but rather measuring which game is seeing a bigger increase in activity during the promotion compared to their usual average.

The promo DLC for the winning game will be free for 5 days.

I see. Thanks for that link.

New to the whole Steam thing. Do they sell Steam Gift cards at Gamestop? I have a gift card there and I want to purchase Day Z from the steam site.

Only Strider for me

Fast paced action platformer with slick combat is right up my alley

I do want Strider but not for R$25,00 since I'm not even going to play it right now. Ikaruga is a must buy depending of the price (less than R$20,00, pls Treasure).

I also just got Blazblue. Pretty cool game and I don't mind the lack of online since I suck at fighting games. The storyline is fucking weird though.

Are Ikaruga, Banished and Strider not region locked? I am pretty interested at those games but I am just afraid they won't be available to me again. Thanks Konami for LOS2 and Rising! I haven't played them because of you.

Just picked up Starbound but it doesn't seem to be grasping me like Tarraria did. I'll give it a couple more hours hopefully it will sick me in. Plus... I know it's not done yet.

Yeah I kinda want to give Strider a try but I'm guessing it will be a free PS+ game sooner rather than later due to lack of games on PS4 atm.

Might be for $10.

Also, if a company as small as Grasshopper can put out a pc port surely Sega can continue to up their game.

I want my VF5, Skies of Arcadia, Sega Tennis etc

Part of the reason I'm not really touching it yet. Don't want to burn out on it before it gets fully released.

JaseC

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
Was thinking about that the other day.
Does EA still own it or did it go to Grasshopper? I would be all over a Shadows of the Damned release on Steam. Game got way overlooked on consoles.

Grasshopper owns it. The appeal of the EA Partners program is that a developer receives EA's backing without the usual drawback of having to relinquish ownership of the IP.

Bought Ikaruga on xbla aeons ago and couldn't even get past the first stage. Maybe with a colour restriction removal like DmC...

*sigh*

I'm too old dumb for this.

Let's talk new vegas for a moment ok?

I had a chance to play a bit yesterday and probably won't get another chance until tomorrow so I have today to formulate a plan of attack.

I'm in freeside now doing random stuff with the ambition of either leveling up my science to convince the guard robots I'm cool to enter the strip or earning/steeling 2k in money.

I'm about halfway on the money end and I think I can get my science stat in about two levels. I tried brute forcing the robots and that didn't go well at all.

what would you do steamgaf?

Science is useful... but don't forget that it's a 2000 cap credit check, not an entrance fee. Don't blow it all in one casino.

is there a wiki listing of steam games with low system requirements? I'd like to install some stuff on my work pc, and "can-i-run-this" isnt that reliable imo

Sorry I didn't get to this post until now.
Reinstalling XNA should update my .NET right?

Good question.
I'm pretty sure they're separate, but I don't know if the XNA redist gets the .NET installer if it discovers you don't have the right version.
(Of course, even if it does, there's a crapload of windows updates for .NET)

repairing XNA fixed it.
Which is amazing could have sworn I did that before guess I didn't or somehow was using an older version.

What? No. Literally everybody but Lara was a throwaway character. At least the people in Uncharted actually mattered.

I don't think that's true. Pretty much everyone in Uncharted 2 has about the same development as the crew in TR, save for the core 3 which already had a game to be introduced to the audience.

lolololol nope. U2 blows TR 2013 away. This is coming from a fan of the 2013 TR. The story is just horrid.

No. At least for me.

Having a story where the plot is basically "chase a knife through a bunch of excuses to have a ton of gunfights only to find a secret portal to another dimension filled with smurfs on steroids from eating magical fruit" is much worse to me than "Crash on the island we were looking for, find out there's magic afoot causing tons of crews to crash on the island where survivors have turned into a cult of sorts with the focus on doing whatever necessary to get off the island."

It doesn't work with DS4Tool. Or, at least, not as well as it does with every other game I've been using it with.

I'd say you should ditch DS4Tool and try Scarlet.Crush DS3 SCP Server. It's much more reliable than DS4 Tool and the only feature it's currently missing that I used from DS4 tool was some of the tweak for the DS4 lightbar. I was getting a ton of dropped input with DS4 Tool too, like it would just stop registering the controller and then would pick up again when it felt like it.

So, STALKER - I forgot I had it.

What are the best mods to use nowadays? It'd be my first playthrough (probably won't finish it though, knowing me) and I've heard there are better alternatives to Complete nowadays?

I would prefer that Bergamo game, or even better both.

I'm hoping Deep Silver can bring that game too, even if it'd be a later release XP

Time to spread some more KiD love with GIFs!

Kudos to cj_iwakura and the KiD gang for these glorious representations of the crazy awesomeness of this game.

The wait to see these scenes in 60 FPS at 1080p+ is just HNNNNNNNNNNNNNG

I think those dev sessions that Valve is having with Japanese developers and publishers are starting to pay off:

So, in one year-ish:

- Deadly Premonition
- Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3
- Ikaruga
- Resident Evil 4 HD
- Killer is Dead
- King of Fighters XIII
- Metal Slug 3
- Trails in the Sky First/Second
- Metal Gear Rising
- Agarest
- Typing of the Dead: Overkill
- Ninja Gaiden Yaiba (lol)

Reeeeaaally awesome trend, hopefully it continues.
