Oh I'm not saying it isn't smart, of course it's a smart business move, you're getting more money out of the die hard fans and you won't have to pay as much for real testers. Just because it's smart doesn't mean to say I have to like it or anyone else does. Testing isn't that much of a glamorous affair, so it's not like it's a one sided thing where only the user is benefiting. It's useful for both, die hard fans get to play early and help make the game better through testing, and the developers get people who actually care and have good knowledge of the genre to test their game for free. So consequently, I don't see why users should be charged to alpha test. Also you can limit and choose the amount of players in it through other means.

Decent AI, ability to do MP (I think), Leaderboards, etc.

Looks gorgeous, basically a great deal for $2.99.

Oh, I'm not saying I'm okay with Steam being down so frequently, just that I'd be more annoyed if it was a service I was being charged a monthly fee for. If I'm paying a subscription fee for a service that keeps going down, I find myself asking, "What the hell am I paying for here? Why aren't you using the money you're getting from sub fees to improve your infrastructure and fix whatever needs fixing?"

tl;dr - I expect more and have less tolerance for downtime when I'm paying a subscription fee.

I had some serious problems because I never properly learned how to accurately aim my cuts throughout the entire game.

I didn't know that you could just ninja run under the debris he throws at you, so by the time I learned how to aim my cuts properly I was essentially no-damaging the fight.

Made getting the achievement quite easy.

Yep. It'd probably be less severe of a spike if it'd let you fight more during the game, instead of spending time with those dreadful cutscenes. I'd have gone for a second playthrough if I could disable the cinematics and was given more enemies and more time in the levels. Hmm, there's probably a mod for that now so I should look into it...

Edit: Nope, there aren't any mods :/

I think, by the way, that Armostrong on Sam DLC, Reveangance difficulty, is harder then Armstrong from regular game.

I felt badass again though that feeling went away quickly as I tried to beat the boss for about 1 hour. The only way to beat him is to completely know all his moves or have insane reflexes.

I'm currently watching some of the SDD talks and the one called "100% Steam" was very interesting, the keynote speaker was Paul Jackson from Dovetail Games the developer behind Train Simulator, and I know we jockly about these kind of games but his presentation was good he made interesting points about user generated content.

Naa, if you push UP and make enemies angry, you can kill them with two charged sword hits. The Gorillas are very easy using this method (also the hammerguards).

But S ranking Armstrong is a nightmare.

I did it in about an hour and a half of retries. The thing that can fuck you up the most is when he rushes you with the flame dash. Sometimes easy to dodge, other times he somehow circles you and the camera makes that near impossible to dodge.
