They're not separate apps, unfortunately. You'll notice that the "app" id for the UE is 100x higher than the regular edition.

Thief will be a fine $5 purchase somewhere down the line for patient gamers - possibly as soon as Christmas-ish. If Amazon Tony retains his Editor's Choice thing, I'd say it's almost a certainty with one of his magic coupons.

In warranty, send it back. Out of warranty most likely not worth the cost. Be cheaper to strip it down yourself, clean the board, put it in the oven at the right temperature and pray to the Gods of Laptops and Solder. Unless you go to a specialist I suspect the cost would be too high.
Sure its not just a screen issue or Inverter? Plug it into an external monitor and check.
Yeah I've done all that. It's a solder issue for sure. I blocked the fan and the exhaust to heat it up enough for about 30 minutes. Turned it off. Back on again and it was working. Apparently it's quite common from what I've read on my laptop model, an HP G62. But it's so fucking stupid, I got out of my car and my bag was open a bit and it slipped out from not a very high height (maybe 30cm tops?) and I suspect that did it. Either that or my brother did something yesterday when he was using it.

Now when we got Sudeki, Ys and even Septerra Core on steam (and about to get Trails), wouldn't it be too much to ask for Xanadu to be released too? I know it never was localized officially, but it could be still. I wonder how well all these older games did. Can we get steam sales statistics somehow?

Dunno about HP laptops, but I swore to myself never to buy any Dell laptop ever again. If you put it on your lap, it burns your skin, and no, I'm not kidding.

Mine is amazing. Its on the medium-low end though. When i bought it they said to expect 3 hours of battery life for normal usage. I get 5.5 hours easy.
Yeah they're pretty awful. My battery, the second one mind you since the first one decided to always die at 50%, only lasts like 30 mins on power saver. Build quality is poor too. Never buying HP again. But it was only about $320ish dollars so I can't complain too much.
It also heats up like crazy too.
My mate's ASUS is fantastic. I'd like to buy one for myself, actually.

Fuck HP laptops. Mine's a year and some change old and for about 6 months of its life it's been immobile due to the fan slowly dying. So long as I keep it where it is, the fan won't do any silly shit and break more. I tried to find a replacement part and I was looking at paying HP something like $800 for the part, which even the phone techs told me with a straight face was exactly what I'd have to pay.

My roommate's and ex-roommate's HP laptops all have the same issue, they sound like they are going to take off when the fan is running at full speed.
My MSI GE60 is still alive and well.
I had 2 Asus laptops, one was amazing, really, I remember it could run any game at that time, what was pretty astonishing, but the next one I bought was bad, it was one of those super small ones, I bought it for my mother, but I used it for some time, and you could heat a room with it, not even mentioning that updating was made somehow especially painful, it used custom OS, beased on Next step I think. So, my mother haven't used it for long, an told me everything what she thought about Asus in particular and me in general (><)
in case someone missed it, Dirt 3 is removed from steam now, at least in my region it is.

Finally got around to trying the In-Home Streaming beta yesterday. I've got a laptop for work that's not super powerful, and I ordered a Displayport->HDMI adapter to hook it up to my receiver, and then to the TV. My main reason for using it was dashed almost instantly though.
I had wanted to be able to use it to play games while my wife is on the desktop doing homework, but the streaming actually takes over the mouse on the host computer. I guess maybe it will work fine for games that are entirely controller-based, so that will be my next test.
Also, thanks to Dio Brando for FEZ. I'll actually play through it now, unlike the 360 version I have that's been sitting there for 18 months or so.

$5 is cheap enough. I can't remember the last time I bought something from GG.
The 17" Dell my mum gave to me after she bought an iPad was fantastic, but it started systematically failing and eventually it frustrated me to the point where I threw it at the floor, then it was really broken. This lead me to buying the shitty HP laptop I have today.
