Epic modbot giveaway incoming

Steamworks makes it so hard for licencing issues to keep games away from us.

Is that Wheelman extending a helping hand to Warner?

Sorry, was just activating my copy on Steam :p.

Was somewhere having clearance?

Amazon UK.

But where is the porn?

I was tempted, oh so very tempted! :D

The Steam thing with comments people make on your screenshots that are "moved or deleted" in the overview is kinda annoying. Screenshots and comment are still there, but you're on your own to find out which thing got commented on.

I hate it; it always makes me paranoid that someone has complained about one of my risque screenie captions and I'm going to get sent to my naughty place by Valve :(.

Save that one for the rerelease on Steam. Shop Ronan's head on top of The Rock.

Perfection. As has been said numerous times why Warner is sitting on all it's midway IPs is beyond me. Easy money for some simple steam releases.

metal gear rising looks alright

hard to take pictures when playing...

The fucking grain filter though..

Filters always suck ass. Don't know why so many devs rely on them.
RE5 without the filter looks amazing.

Just checked the Steam games of the year at beginning of the thread. Poor little Rome 2 only got my votes... haha.

Oh well, it's still a really good game now. With mods, it can be way better!

Yea I'm glad devs are toning it down for this gen, with less desaturation, bloom and fog.

But I think they're replacing them with chromatic aberration D:

Didn't see it posted but Bundle Stars has the new-ish King's Bounty Warriors of the North for $7.50 activating on Steam. Great game well worth this price if you like King's Bounty or HOMM clones.

3089 has released and is 30% off ($6.99) for the next week.

I actually think 3079 is a better game than 3089, even though the latter has much more "features".

But the fact that 3079 creates THOUSANDS of 4k files as it generates terrain makes it not a viable software that you can run and enjoy.

They're both nice ideas, but both are poorly executed, from the "not a lot of time" i spent playing them.

What game are you going for now?

I figure it'd be notably cheaper to get the Korean versions of Football Manager if I bought them through a GAFer (no shipping required), plus there would be a faint chance of me getting my mittens on FM 2010 Korean, which is nowhere to be found on Gmarket.

That does make sense. Since that's probably the only way you're going to get a hold of that one now.

DuskGolem had a write up somewhere about it.
The just of it was that it's worth 3 dollars, however for max enjoyment you want to play with someone.

I love when games magically appear on your library (3089, had redeemed the key a while ago from a bundle)

You mean when you check the notifications screen and it says a comment has been deleted? Yeah, it's very annoying, but after a while it fixes itself and the proper link appears.

From what I've played of it, I'd second that. It's a fun 2.5D brawler where you're beating the hell out of monsters instead of humans (Capcom take note - I'd love an RE-themed brawler >.>), and like most beat-'em-ups, it's more fun in co-op.

Final Exam impressions time! I'll keep it a bit brief.

Final Exam is a spin-off from the PS2/Wii/PC series of horror games known as Obscure, it is set in the same universe but is called something else as they thought fans wouldn't like it if it was called Obscure as it's a 2D Beat-Em Up as opposed to a horror game.

Game is composed of 8 levels, lasts about 4-5 hours, and is best played with other people. You can play it alone, but it's obvious it was designed with multiplayer in mind.

Combat is actually well-done. Think 2D Devil May Cry. Instead of a standard beat-em up style, the game has a huge score attack focus, and you switch between melee weapons, gun, grenades, and juggling enemies in the air. Actually a good variety of weapons, and they all feel very different (if I remember correctly, there's like 25 total guns/melee weapons/grenades, not each but together.) How you get weapons though is kind of weird, as you have to find them in the levels. The game also has a combo system where as long as you don't get hit or let too much time up, you continue to get a combo higher and higher for greater score. But get hit once, and you lose it all, and get nothing, so at any time if you're afraid of getting hit, you can press a button to 'cash-in' your combo. It resets the combo back to zero, but you get the points from your last combo.

Four different classes, but they all are pretty similar except with a few different specials, and different 'builds'. You level up characters from skill points you collect (get more skill points by beating certain scores in a level (three scores to beat for a skill point each) and collecting five hidden orbs in each level), and each character has a different max hitpoint, max efficiency with a type of weapon, etc. Like the nerd has the lowest health, goth I think has lowest speed, etc.

One thing I like about the game as well is that the levels are very open and explorable, and you almost always have multiple objectives to do at one time. With friends, you can either all move together, or move separately for different people to do different objectives. Stages also try and keep things interesting by throwing these 'mix-ups' in them, things like some pseudo Space Invaders section, or a section where you control a giant war boat.

The enemies also keep introducing new enemies through the course of the game, though notable in the later parts they just introduce new harder version of enemies that have new moves/stats to them (like being able to shoot acid or explode when defeated, etc.).

Game has two major flaws though. In the eight levels, there's only really four levels. You go to two levels once (the first two levels are original), but then the other two levels you visit three times each. They mix things up with different objectives, new areas to the levels, but it still can make the middle section of the game tiring in a long spurt. Also there's only two bosses in the game, and it's one boss you keep on fighting again and again and a final boss. The one boss gets bigger and stronger each time you fight him, and gets new moves, and sometimes when you fight him it's radically different, but it's still a bit tedious over time.

Which is a shame the above two flaws as if it weren't basically for repeating, it would have some less repetition in the middle section of the game and would be an actually pretty excellent 2D brawler. But as is, the best part of the game is the first three levels and the last level. That said, I would say it's worth it for $3, and if you want someone to play with, I don't mind doing it. I have you on my friends list, and we can try to get some other GAF'ers who own it to play it.

I would be willing to join along as well. Looks like a fun game to play with friends.
