About the music thing, that is probably going to change rather soon* if Valve decides to carry on with what they've been teasing in their conferences.

*soon = 2016 in valve's time.

Well, doesn't jase and co use vpn's? And so would that fudge some numbers?

Not for purchases as Valve doesn't take kindly to that. In fact, I was playing with fire when I used one to activate my region-locked Metal Gear Rising gift as it technically falls under that same umbrella (Valve doesn't care about VPN usage as far as activations and game unlocks are concerned as neither impacts it financially).

Edit: Still no response from Bethesda and Exor hasn't got back to me just yet either.

That's true, but they'd also have to repackage the soundtracks so that instead of a random collection of files, they get treated as an actual media bundle or something. I actually find it a bit weird that Steam doesn't already do this, considering there's a Media tab in the library and everything. But they only seem to use that tab for game trailers and videos you download as standalone items from the storefront (versus the soundtracks, which are always DLC).

If and when Steam does actually become more of a media-centric application, then yeah, I'd totally want the Broken Age soundtrack in there too, but honestly I prefer having the FLAC download anyways.

I'm confused, why on earth would you want the soundtrack via STEAM of all places? The Humble page has MP3, FLAC and WAV downloads already. Every soundtrack DLC I've purchased on Steam has just dumped a bunch of MP3s in a folder somewhere in the game's steamapps directory--as far as I can tell there isn't even a facility to play them via the Steam client.

The reason why I want it is obvious, haha, but regardless I'm hardly being greedy or unreasonable in my desire. Seeing as Double Fine is the game's developer and publisher, although it's now a bit of a logistic headache, there's no reason why $30+ backers shouldn't receive the OST on Steam.

I really think people are misreading the music/movie announcements. Valve has not remotely indicated an interest in expanding to other types of media, and there's nothing about SteamOS announcement set hat suggests anything like that. Find a source and then look carefully at what the source says instead of running with the fever dream.

Adding Canadian currency support will amount to a massive price raise for Canadians. We'll be stuck with tax (13%). And that's assuming it doesn't impact prices, which it will.

I can't wait to see what they do with games like Call of Duty for Australia. No way do they just convert to AUD to match retail (which is apparently what they are doing when they price gouge...never mind there basically is no retail for PC)

I'm betting we see $160 Ghosts Digital Hardened Edition

He said dust, not demonicon

Hey man, Dust looks like furry porn, so if you like Dust it means you like furries so you're a pervert. It's science!

Touche my friend :p I still need to finish Demonicon

Also I'm obviously joking about Dust

Anyone know if there's any free game deals on any nVidia gpu's going on? I'm looking to upgrade my 760 but would rather do it if I can score some free games out of the deal...

Have you guys ever been so much into a game that you didn't even think was that great, nor would you really recommend it to anyone? I got it bad man, it's like vanilla wow days up in my joint these days

Last week I was playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution. During my first playthrough I thought it was just interesting enough to get me to finish it. Since finishing it that first time last week, I've beaten it another 4 times!

Looking back on the Winter Sale, I think Rogue Legacy was without a doubt, hands down, the best purchase I made. Runner up would be either The Swapper or Valdis Story. Bought way too much but enough to hold me until the next sale...

I think "grind" games tend to have effect. The repetition / reward / progression cycle, I guess is oddly comforting and boring at the same time.

I don't really need a tag, but I figured I'd get one to make people jealous. Is it working?

I have 54 hours in Hitman: Absolution.

I find doing the level challenges...soothing. A between games palate cleanser.

There are a lot of games I enjoy I wouldn't recommend to others, I wouldn't expect everyone to enjoy dynasty warriors but I like playing those games. They are mindless fun.

man I really wish there's an online hack and slash on steam, I'd play a dynasty warriors game

The reason for that is Double Fine only made one backer sub, rather than one for <$30 backers and another inclusive of the OST. I'm going to PM Chris but unfortunately I don't see anything changing due to the egregious oversight. Situations like this are exactly why I don't bother backing successful Kickstarters anymore -- I wouldn't have pledged $30 if I knew that I would've been asked to buy the game again just to get the soundtrack on Steam.
The thing is, they don't need to make a separate sub. Just make the soundtrack a DLC, then add the DLC sub to all the $30+ backers on Humble, and there you go, problem solved.

Others have said grind games, but MMOs do this to me. I get addicted, I grind through as much content as I can, I quit when they start charging or go out of beta (whichever comes first) (because that's always a good threshold for cutting off an addiction). This, despite recognizing that in many cases they're really not any good.

finally got a 5 star restaurant in cook serve delicious

there are ninjas now in the game

There were always ninjas.
Didn't you see them?

Australian dollars? Apart from the currency conversion fee gone, nothing about this sounds good.
My initial reaction is this will turn out to be a very bad thing.
Doesn't Canadian dollars mean that I'll have to start paying taxes on steam?

These posts pretty much sum up my thoughts on Steam adding local currencies. I'd be amazed if this doesn't turn out to be a negative change.

I fully expect that this will mean pricing is done with an unfavourable exchange rate, that more regional price gouging is put in place, and then we'll have sales tax lumped on top.

Adding Canadian currency support will amount to a massive price raise for Canadians. We'll be stuck with tax (13%). And that's assuming it doesn't impact prices, which it will.

Now imagine that for those of us in Australasia....

Hmm...I have like 70+ hours in Torchlight 2. I still try to beat that damn level where you need to follow the light from time to time. I don't expect to succeed of course.

I agree with you sadly. They don't want to be iTunes, they just want to support Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, and whatever else people use their Xboxs and Rokus for. This is in theory supposed to be a console replacement afterall.

I wouldn't mind being wrong though, they do already sell 1 movie and a few ebooks as games :p

I love the DW/Musou games, myself. I'd kill to see those (or something similar) on Steam.

Unless 'local currency' is optional and just their own means of currency conversion to charge your credit card (like Amazon), this is really horrible news. Every other gaming platform skews currency conversion in their favor.

And yeah, client needs massive overhaul, etc.

And as an added question, is going from a 760 to a 770 worth it if I'm going to be grabbing a second monitor? Is there a noticeable boost in that upgrade?

Update for my laptop. Think i'm going to hand it over to a buddy traveling to another base.
He should be able to get with a civilian contractor there who is his friend to fix it. Guess we'll see. I'll be backing up my stuff.

For Steam all I need to back up is common/steamapps right?
