I just want to make it clear that my one line reference to the Saoirse Ronan Appreciation OT to MRORANGE wasn't only directed at you or intended to be passive aggressive. First and foremost it was a response to trading being called out, and a statement that the occasional person trying to sell a couple keys many people in this thread had expressed interest in (Prey is the game in question here) is not any bigger a deal or disturbance than one of the half dozen or so people with a Saoirse Ronan avatar occasionally shopping her face onto a pic of someone jiggling their boobs or the reaction gifs etc. I think most people realize at this point several others here besides you post Saoirse Ronan related images, and perhaps even more frequently (I don't read every page).

I'm acutely aware that I'm not the only person who posts such images (it'd be weird if I weren't), but I tend to be an indirect reference point, because I do post them most often (which, again, isn't often). I do think that in the past the frequency, chiefly if not only perpetrated by me, was an issue, but these days it's very much an occasional thing and discourse tangents are as rare as they are brief. Again, I think it's a visibility thing rather than an actual problem. The only other person who posts Saoirse images with even a remote level of regularity is Classy, who has less than 80 posts.

I agree I am heavy handed on traders in this thread, for the fact they do stir a lot of problems, the Saoirse pics are more of a nuisance and very worn down joke at this point.

However I agree that they do detract from the conversation. Ideally this thread should not be about Saoirse Ronan references and what-not, but if I start making obscure rules on not posting certain 'things' it's gonna turn into slippery slope of a list - considering how off-topic this thread can get with random stuff.

The best advice I can give is stay on topic.

Just move us to Community and let the off-topic talk run free!

I wouldn't like that. But I don't want to see these threads become dry, dusty infodumps devoid of personality or a sense of community either. Sometimes I get the feeling that there are people here who would actually find that sort of change an improvement. : /

I guess I just don't see a big deal with the off-topic discussion. It's easy enough to skim past, and the people that post the good info usually do it in a way that is easily distinguishable from the majority of other posts.

We seem to be very much a "community," so the move to community sorta makes sense. I know there's less visibility that way, but I personally don't find an issue with that. I very rarely even look at anything beyond my subscriptions, and haven't for probably a year or more.

ok I'm sure I'm going back to ancient history for some people but help would be appreciated.

I've just started playing Rainbow Six 3, and I'm still getting used to it. It's unintuitive but challenging. Question I have though is, should I worry about my team mates dying?

Are they replaced, or can I essentially run out of soldiers? I'm early in the game and have lost 4 members already by mission 4, do I need to restart?

Sorry, this is slightly OT. Amazon has some good deals on Logitech stuff. I was going to pass
(but my promotion finally came through at work).
, but is there anything to recommend? Not to familiar with the hardware stuff, mainly looking for a deal on a mouse and keyboard.

Started downloading To the Moon.

am cry

Thats up on my Backlog after MGR and the last chapter of Alan Wake. Bring on the feels

If it's anything like the previous games, all the "original" R6 games give you an infinite amount of "generic" guys, but your specialists are permanently gone if they die (similar to Ghost Recon).

Yeah exactly. The off topic posts come when there's little else to talk about, but given the very nature of the topic, that's inevitable.

This thread is genuinely one of the best on GAF, if someone has a query then they always (usually) get a prompt response.

Those deals aren't very good.

Stay the fuck away from headsets or I will disown you and none of those mice are their typical recommends for gaming.

My g930 is pretty good, thank you very much. And wireless to boot!

I know a split headphone + mic has better quality, both on listening and when speaking, but I like the "automatically detecting when I'm talking" solution better than push to talk, so I would need a directional mic and getting those in Brazil are prohibitively expensive.

Also, good headphones are also expensive, so...

Thanks, will have to try that. What config.sys and autoexec.bat are you using for it?

...wow, I feel like I just stepped back in time to 1999. Seriously, I haven't heard anyone talking about messing with config.sys and autoexec.bat in literally years. Nostalgia rush here.

Sometimes headphones can cost more in certain countries due to importing and taxes, so not sure what the situation in Brazil is.

But you can always find a high-quality pair of headphones for lower prices. Grado, AKG, and Audio Technica all have open headphones in the lower budget prices that are perfect for gaming.

They will still have that wider sound stage, clarity, and good audio quality that you want for gaming. Typically better build quality than what you get out of a typical gaming headset as well.

I've heard incredibly good things about these lately http://www.modmic.com/ but then there is the import situation. The way the government of Brazil treats the global market is very strange, so its hard to recommend for that particular situation.

It's not about the actual importing: I can usually avoid taxes. It's just that I can't buy any of those "good" headphones (or microphones) at acceptable prices locally, so I have to deal with finding them on ebay, figuring out if the person selling them is dependable, figure out shipping price and then being lucky enough to avoid importation taxes.

On the other hand, the Logitech's are pretty good, wireless, common, cheap and famous enough that there are enough people selling them that's easy to find somebody willing to jump through hoops to mail them properly to Brazil.

And they sound great. Have I mentioned that they're wireless, so I can walk around the house while watching (well... listening) a video/talking to my friends on Teamspeak? :D

Well that was fun. I started up a new character in Dark Souls to try something out on an early boss, and got invaded. Two magic hands backstabs later and my level 22 character is now level 6. I guess I was asking for a way to respec earlier, after all, but I'm glad that was a character I just made to mess around with. Guess I'm part of team offline now, or at least team "jump off a bridge any time you get invaded"

Cheers, guess I'll try to be careful then, but at least it's not like XCOm and I can't put myself in a corner.

Kentucky Road Zero is kinda boring. Except when it's not boring and is totally awesome. Maybe it's boring just to be more awesome at some points. Most points? What a weird game. Well maybe not game, a story. A game? Most likely at the end of Act 2 soon, when's the rest?
