Speaking of webm's and all the graphical faffery of the last day or two been going through what I've got installed and just for shits and giggles booted up Gears of War (yeah not on Steam I know). Bizarrely it doesn't register resolutions more than 4 figures but it does have a 400x300 resolution. Yes 400x300. It plays like a freaking 3D SNES game and it's awesome. Saj would be proud if it weren't for the upgrade.

Speaking of low resolution games, you can play Strider at 320x200

Ends up looking a like a PS1 game:

Probably been asked already, but could anyone tell me which DLC would be worth getting for Sleeping Dogs? AKA, the DLC that adds to the game, and isn't just items or pay-to-cheat.

I just checked and I did put "register" in the title. Or more specifically, "register some awesome games" as noted in the faq page.

I noticed that I put spaces between my lines, so I don't know if that messed it up. Example:

Game 1 -- key

Game 2 -- key

Game 3 -- key

I also didn't include any rules. Just listed the games and sent off the PM.

Does anyone ever try to send the PM twice if it doesn't go through the first time?

I suspect it was the "--" that did it. Rules are optional so no issue there. A second PM won't hurt even if ModBot is offline for some reason and that is why you haven't had a response. I would try again but just use "game - key" as the format; that will definitely work.

I decided to just go with the base game at $3.99.

Great prices on the DLC, but from what I've heard most of it unbalances the game big time.

Don't forget to pick up the free High Resolution Texture Pack, though.

Sub Zero

his body's cold as ice, but he's got a heart of gold
IIRC Nightmare in North Point, Year of the Snake, and Zodiac Tournament all add missions.

Some of the cosmetic ones add missions too like the SWAT Pack and the Street Racer Pack. I particularly enjoyed the racing in Sleeping Dogs so I'd recommend the latter.

Cool, thanks for the advice.

I tried again maybe 10 minutes ago, cleaning up the format a bit after looking at examples on the faq page (this is only my 2nd giveaway).

I took out the extra "-", took away line spaces, and made it a Lightning Raffle. Also composed the ModBot PM directly from the faq-page link.

Still haven't gotten a reply back.

No biggie. It's not like I was giving away Dark Souls 2 or anything.

Maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

TronLight

Everybody is Mikkelsexual
And there it goes, Civ V AI went nuts. The Uns went from Friendly to Ostile in 2 turn. And I did NOTHING.

And they still keep asking me for money! I swear, I must have lent a few billions in these centuries to civs who are hostile to me.

My rule for Sleepy dogs DLC was to ignore everything that has a name that ends in Pack. except for the free high resolution texture pack.

No problem. It's probably an issue at ModBot's end then. Sometimes the server it's on goes offline or something. Hopefully any issue will be resolved by tomorrow and it will deal with its backlog.

Daily Sleeping Dogs 80% off
A man who never plays Sleeping Dogs is never a whole man.

Interested in getting the DLC ala carte? Here are the priority tiers:
Highest Priority - Substantial new content/new campaigns
Nightmare in Northpoint
Year of the Snake (Probably the best of the bunch)

High Priority - New content, only a few linear missions
Zodiac Tournament (It's linear fighting, but the 70's kung-fu movie aesthetic is fun)
Wheels of Fury

Low Priority - Costume/Weapon/Side-Mission packs
Street Racer
Tactical Soldier
Triad Enforcer
Deep Undercover
Drunken Fist
GSP Pack
Law Enforcer
Gangland Style
Martial Arts
Monkey King
Movie Masters
Police Protection
Retro Triad
Screen Legends
Square Enix Character
SWAT

Bottom-tier - Cheat packs
Red Envelope (Puts money envelope collectables at the Parking Garages)
High Roller (Just unlocks stuff that can be unlocked during normal gameplay)
Top Dog Gold
Top Dog Silver

Fake Edit: After considering how much cheaper the DLC collections are compared to buying them all ala carte, I did a search to see if anyone figured out how to deactivate the cheat DLCs that are included in the collections. It turns out that there is a way to deactivate them, according to the sticky thread in the Steam Forums. You just need to delete or dummy out certain .dat files in the Sleeping Dogs directory to deactivate the cheat DLCs. The above link has a full list DLC dats, but the four files that definitely need to be deleted/dummied before starting a new game are:
1E6323E1.dat Top Dog Gold Pack
576E446C.dat Top Dog Silver Pack
E58008F5.dat Red Envelope Pack
AC8D6F78.dat High Roller Pack

Thanks for the info, sounds like quite a few will add to the game. The trader prices are pretty good for the collection, so just opted for that over individual DLC. I've had the game for a while, but have yet to play. So having this DLC now will be a good incentive to try it out!

Cool a ghost city

This isn't the first time I read this about Slippy Dawgs.
Well, that gif probably was shot in a magical moment
bug
where there were no cars around, because in my game, that street is ALWAYS overcrowded.

Yeah, some could argue that could be me usually leaving the car in the middle of the street in front of the club on top of the hill, but still. :D

(no seriously, the city - and that road in particular - felt alive. Ok, not overcrowded like one imagine the real HK to be, but thank god you don't have to struggle in traffic for hours like IRL!)

I know. That's why it took me over a year to get where Im now. And that's maybe one of the reasons I can't use them right now (planning to use it on the summer sale though). The amount of time that has gone to idling games is disgusting.
lol, it's not like you had to do any effort. Launching the game (either through Steam or SAM) and then playing guitar or watching some porn or whatever.

I sucked six dicks to get this tag.

Northpoint should be in the bottom just for being shitty.

btw I've already bought Binary Domain and I'm also buying Sleeping Dogs with all the DLCs on Steam and probably Just Cause 2 on Gamersgate, I'm in a shopping spree.

I've yet to play Binary Domain, it looks interesting. Sleeping Dogs and Just Cause 2 are both great open world games. Sleeping Dogs' Hong Kong is very atmospheric and beautiful, while Just Cause 2's Panau is just a massive playground for you to cause havoc in.

Quick question - If I go on holiday to a different country, will steam allow me to buy games at local prices or will I get myself into some trouble, or would the games stop working when I return home?

Like I said above, make sure you delete/move/dummy those four .dat files, especially the Top Dog Gold/Silver and High Roller packs. Otherwise, you'll be max level and loaded with cash when you finish the first mission.

Sleeping Dogs is my favourite open world game, good luck!

If this is true, then the links in my giveaway cannot be redeemed. Once it's over can the winners please PM me so I can send you the working links?

YA BEAUTY! Nice, thanks a lot.

Link works fine.

Once again, thanks.

If you need to buy a game on steam whilst on holiday, it's time to admit you have a problem.

God I forgot how much of a dick Catherine of Russia can be in Civ V. First turn I bump into her she's all like "Oh hey haven't you got a mighty fine empire, let's be chums" then 2 turns later she straight up denounces my civilazation because she's had words with her other mates and they don't trust me. A turn later and she straight up throwing insults about the my standard of living. Just you wait until I've got a few warriors together Catherine and well soon see if you're so smug then.

I have no idea what to do or where to go in DS2 so Im just going places... Seems like an neverending game.

You haven't seen anything yet. There are particular parts towards the end of game that make no sense at all. They are so obtuse, you'd have a very hard time figuring everything out without a guide. And I don't mean this in a "look, this game is Dark Souls 2, which means it's super hardcore and awesome, oh yes, hurt me more" kind of way (I resent it, anyway), it's just bad game design. This coming from one of the bigger supporters of DS2.

I don't want dark souls 2 to ever end

It took me ~40 hours to finish, so it's not that long. There were a couple of optional parts I didn't do (yet), but they take like an hour in total.

never left the stone age
Lol, yesterday I learned the dangers of trading for gifts on Steam. Apparently your gifted and activated game can get revoked if the original purchase is charged back. Fuck if I'm ever trusting that shit again.
