Some oddities with Metro 2033's steam implementation. Doesn't show up in time played and clicking achievements brings you back to your home page. To view them you have to find the game on the store page and go through there.

People are having their screenshots forced to private as well. Most likely someone forgot to flip a switch properly and it is still considered an unreleased title, as those tend to redirect to your home page when you click to view achievements.

Yeah, I've played both of the ones available on Steam and I really enjoyed them. I had played the first one when it was available outside of Steam, but the inclusion of trading cards and achievements made it worth replaying. I recently played the second one and got 100% of the achievements there as well. I typically put about 10 hours into these games before beating them (and they don't have much replayability) so I think they're worth picking up for about $10.

Well technically speaking it's not released yet (that's for us lot in Europe) so until the 'releasestate' flag changes from 'preloadonly' to 'released' I guess not much of that will work properly yet.

It is an unreleased title. The game's only unlocked in the Americas, so its general status is still set to preloadonly. It unlocks elsewhere in the world later today.

Most games are released early in the US and don't experience similar issues. Not really a big deal of course.

Yeah, I'm not seeing anything in the registry that would cause it to act differently. It's probably something Valve's done, similar to how earlier in the year Steam became "smart enough" to rescind your in-game status if you unlocked a game via VPN and killed it mid-session (doing so wouldn't boot you out of the game, just to be clear, but Steamworks features don't function if Steam doesn't think you're running the game).

The Metro 2033 Redux achievement issue has happened before with staggered releases. I can't remember which game it was, but I think it was this year or last.

LOL I've been fired twice already... once as manager of the Expos, where I took a club from first to worst thanks to an unfortunate couple of veteran signings (damn you Ron Cey!) and then again from the CUBS. How do you get fired as manager of the Cubs when the owner says he has no expectations!!

Again, I blame these terrible players.

Such a great game.

They have a flash prototype on their site. Played that version way too much in 2 player mode over the last year. From what I've played of this new one it just plays a lot tighter and has a bunch more options.
