It's functionally no different than the existing Standalone application, which itself is functionally no different than using the browser extension. The "injection" happens after the server response is returned: meaning Steam doesn't know that the response is being tampered with.

So the client basically being a 'bleh' wrapper around a 'meh' browser could for once, almost be a good thing?

I thought about it, but the Fade sequence is important not to be skipped.
It might be bad, but its one of the most unique sections of the game which takes away the repeatition of your character/party tactics and instead asks the players to play by its different rules.

It's long, there's plenty of important missables and the puzzles aren't fun at all after the first time.
