Steam Greenlight: 1000 games and counting, more Greenlit every few weeks

So how does Greenlight sort the games, exactly? IIRC they talked about every game getting an equal chance at being seen as you browsed Greenlight, ie the order in which games appear was supposed to be random as you go through different categories. But for me, it seems like the games always appear in the same order. Sorted by popularity, perhaps?

I don't think I really care whether or not it gets on Steam. I do question whether people would actually buy that via Steam though, unless they're the type of people who have their Steam profile set to private.
Just to be clear: I don't think Valve will allow this submission, and I don't care that much either, but nonetheless i think that's just hypocritical. it should be up to the customers (which must be over 18 years old anyway) to decide.

Also, not everyone is extremely uncomfortable with sex and eroticism.

I'm wondering this as well. Which is worrisome, because there's a lot of low-tier XBLIG fodder on the front page.

Why are people putting up stuff like Operation Flashpoint and The Darkness II? There has to be some kind of threshold for some of these stuff to go up; like only creators of the game can put it up for consideration (although, this is kinda hard to check).

Also, it's very annoying to go through a list of games when the damn list keeps randomizing itself!

I don't know if you've already noticed it or not but that adventure Jane Jensen is involved with, Cognition, is on Greenlight as well.

Saw it and voted. I looked through all the ones that have been put up at this point and voted for pretty much all the decent looking adventures.

Neotokyo is up there now.

I don't know if it would release as an F2P game or just the same download as from the website or something, but at least it might help get more players into it.

Okay there are already like 225 games on Greenlight, and a lot of them look absolutely terrible.

If this is what the Steam guys have had to put up with all this time, it's no wonder games get passed over.

Its worth it for me. I've already seen at least five games that I really really want to play, and another ten that I'd probably buy given the chance.

Pretty much what I was thinking while looking through the list. Obviously there are a few that look good, but most of them just look like shit.

Hey guys, would love some support for Little Racers STREET. Looks like there are very few racers on there: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92919295

And here's a positive EDGE review of the XBLIG version for anyone on the fence: http://www.edge-online.com/reviews/little-racers-street-review.

Edit: Paul Eres's Immortal Defense is up. Haven't played it since last I checked it was PC-only, but it has its fans and is definitely a passion project: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92932076

Just to any indie devs here, if you post shitty screenshots, you're probably going to get downvoted.

I don't even read the synopsis 99% of the time, I just look at the screenshots. Especially when there is so much garbage right now to sift through.

Upvoted The Real Texas, Octodad and Mutant Mudds. Reported a couple of blatantly junk uploads, I can see how that process would be tiresome.

There's a lot of poor to middling stuff on here, definitely don't want Steam to turn into an XNA/iOS wonderland and don't think that'll happen, honestly. Still fun to browse, even if I wouldn't want a game on the service it's an interesting platform for discovery.

So you've all seen the porno game, right? downvote that shit.

Im not going to upvote it either because it seems a boring game with puzzles for choices and good art, but why? Are you not confortable with sex maybe? I dont see any problem for it being there if its good enough to have its public and sell.

Receiver, that cool looking 7DFPS entry by the Wolfire (Overgrowth) guys.

There are some real gems on here, you just have to be willing to dig through the piles of trash while trying not to yank your hair out as the entries resort themselves every time you move to another page.

I'm guilty of this as well, although I can of hope at the same time that I'm down downvoting a potential VVVVVV.

I'm actually seeing more games that I'm excited for than I expected.

So many first person exploration games! *votes votes votes*

That shit is seriously not cool!

So here's my question.

How do you tell the difference between an actual indie developer and a thief who takes the time to format the entry well?

I see Spelunky, then the first comment is Stumpokapow breaking my dreams and pointing out the obvious that it isn't by the author :/

Yes, finally!

We can finally get our game out to the world if this works! GAFers UNITE! :D

I <3 you all. There will be some love spread for GAFers in the future, that's for dayum sure.

VOTED!

I also voted this old school turn based strategy game Call of Cthulhu The Wasted Land
