Steam Holiday Sales 2013: DIE HARDER

OK I've got a pretty decent lightning raffle here, I think. Mostly "older" stuff but relevant. I am 95% sure these steam keys work, they are either from humble bundles or Amazon purchases, or god knows what. I think I've kept a pretty good Google Doc of all of them.

Hopefully I don't screw anyone else! Sorry again for the humble bundle snafu :(

Thanks for SupCom2! Worked fine.

Tomb Raider, I haven't figured out quite yet if you're a decent game or torture porn. Both? Graphics for said torture porn are pretty good though.

Early-game, it's a little disturbing how much they beat up poor Lara. It continues throughout, but once the story starts to flesh out I stopped noticing it as much, or they toned it down. Loved the game as a whole, right up there with an Uncharted experience IMO. Also it was my first full game with a new (well, used, but new to me) GTX 680, and I totally played with dem hair physics, TressFX. Very nice when it worked correctly, but there were some oddities with it too--seems like the hair would get "stuck" during some cutscenes and it just looked weird.

Awesome to hear my keys are working for everyone! Feels good to shorten that list a little bit. Will have to dig through for some more tomorrow.

Lara falls so much in that game. I felt like any opportunity there was for her to fall off something she did. By the end I was anticipating almost every fall before it happened.

Just iced another dude on NETHER. Man, this game is something else...

I only killed him because I watched him murder another man who was looking right at me. I thought it was just me and him. I had my gun on him, and he stepped back a few steps. Maybe he was afraid, or trying to show he was friendly. I can't for the life of me figure out how to type in the chat LOL.

Suddenly BOOOM! Shotgun blast rings out, and I watch items go flying, and the killer comes around the corner. I let him have it.

Is there a list somewhere of GFWL games that could be completely broken come July? I don't really mind if it's just the online / multiplayer portion breaking.
Bulletstorm has been thrown around. Any others?

Dark Souls, I think my save files are gonna be fucked(all online).

Edit: Does Condemned Criminal Origins on Steam contain Securom? I bought it on gamefly awhile back but it's not steam and I think it contains securom.

I wouldn't say that, necessarily. If it's still available in my giveaway (editing is lagging a bit but I haven't got a receipt?) I'd say try and grab it. I really should go back to it and give it another shot, I gave up maybe 1/3 of the way through. Reviews were kinda mixed if I remember correctly.

EDIT: Reading one of the metacritic user reviews (yeah, I know, I know) reminded me of what my issue was with it. Story. Just couldn't get into the story like I did with the original. Gameplay felt fine.

It's worth picking up on the cheap as the game mixes up the combat a bit by expanding the enemy type palette and there is an overarching story to it (though nothing overly important in the grand scheme of things). The game was obviously hamstrung by the XBLA size limit, though, so the campaign is comprised of three rather small areas that you play through thrice and the quality of some of the textures is, uh, less than stellar.

Alright, maybe I'll pick it up on the cheap if I see it. Thanks for the feedback.

Having some video card issues so all I can do for the next few days is install games while I wait for my new one to arrive. ;_;

Off the top of my head, games that I own that have not been converted:

Dark Souls
Fallout 3

I haven't played through either. Really should be prioritizing them.

I don't know for sure if they'll be "dead", but when I upgraded to Windows 8 and Arkham City refused to work nicely with GFWL [since de-GFWLized], none of my saves worked, either. It always tried to use the GFWL cloud save, which was busted. I somehow fixed it eventually.

Basically any GFWL game that wasnt already converted fit this category.
Fallout 3 GOTY doesn't need gfwl though.
It still needs the service to run, doesnt it?

Shadowrun is another as it's MP-only.

Basically any GFWL game that wasnt already converted fit this category.

GFWL games that have an SP component and support offline profiles will still work post-closure. From the GFWL FAQ:

Oh man, I was going to pick up Dark Souls if it goes on sale. I guess there's still six months to play... There's no way to play it completely offline?

Does GFWL not sign-in offline like a 360 without internet connection?

You can play it offline, but it's barebones. Without signing into gfwl, I have no access to my saves.

Thanks for that post. I was mainly worried due to when Arkham City crapped out and refused to save, but that was due to the entire GFWL shell failing to load. So I guess as long as that works, offline saves should be safe.

I sucked six dicks to get this tag.
I believe Fallout 3 allowed you to choose if you wanted to use GFWL for achievements or avoid it all together. I could be wrong tho

Thanks for the help guys! So the issue with Bulletstorm is that it doesn't support offline profiles? Weird.

I bought Counter-Strike Complete two days ago on sale for $14.99.

Now it's $7.49.

I went with the "Believer" buy in. You get 20 gold with it so you can buy some goodies if you make it to a safe zone.
