And as someone who actually preferred RE 4 and 5 to the earlier Resi games (yeah, I know, I'm part of the problem, yadda yadda yadda >.>), would I be better off with Resi 6 or Revelations? GMG deals are tempting.

I only played enough of Rise of the Triad to give the earliest of impressions, but it might be the most gloriously dumb thing I've played this year. And I've played Saints Row 4. And Bioshock Infinite.

By today's standards it's an offensively fast FPS, it also seems hard. It's a throwback to the days when it was possible to be terrible at single player modes in FPS games. The voice acting might have been done by relatives of the people who programmed the game. The only weapons without infinite ammo are rocket launchers, and based on the first level there's about one rocket launcher available per enemy encounter. For $3 I'd say you can't go wrong. That might be the egg nog talking.
