Beasts of Prey is pretty cool. Basically the survival game I always thought of once the genre exploded. Will have to spend more time with it. Was able to get some wood, skinny dip, kill a dinosaur, and then some parasaurolophus wrecked me when I thought I could take them on with just my knife.

The ps3 came in a few hours ago. I'm starting its life with infamous. In a way I'm pretty glad that ps3 is lastgen. The exclusives are finally cheap enough to pick up en masse.

Made the client look for an update and it was there...still wonder why they don't just have the FPS counter set to a hotkey

Sure as hell ain't me.

My bad then. Well I guess 24 years old is a lot better than 60+. Hope you had an awesome birthday Jaw!

Also damn iosefe is clean shaven for the first time in a while. He look more human after removing the monkey hair. :p

So there isn't a release date for GTA 5 yet right? My god. What are they waiting for.

Well not that it matter... I was saving $50 for it but I ended up spending half of it during Steam Sale. So this might be a blessing in disguise. I'm smelling a delay coming.

Also I'm not voting because I didn't play many 2014 released games in 2014, and the ones I did I don't feel like I played enough of to have a proper opinion on.

Picked up a macbook air for work and have installed steam on it. Am I better sticking with older games (KOTOR?) or will it stretch to newer less-intensive games? Anyone else game on mac?

I have a 2014 Air (the first ones with haswell) as my laptop. It's better than you'd think for gaming, but not great. Gaming also *annihilates* the battery on it.

2D stuff it handles no problem (Broken Age, Shadowrun Returns, Banner Saga, etc). Lots of indies play really great too (Sunless Sea, Crypt of the Necrodancer), and it generally handles strategy stuff well (Crusader Kings 2, Ultimate General Gettysburg).

XCOM: Enemy Within was juuuust playable. Ditto for Divinity: Original Sin. But sometimes there's other stuff you'd think would run fine, but it just chokes on (Might & Magic X, Space Hulk).

What the hell are these games, anyway? Are they like actual cartoon porn or just some stupid anime girls dressed in lingerie and saying innuendo?

I make no claims as to this games quality, fun, or any thing else. I bought a four pack during the sale with the intent of giving away the spares before it gets bundled sometime in the future. It does seem like fun though. I'm about to dive in, you can join me (maybe) sometime tomorrow! :p

So far, all Visual Novels on steam have no "adult" content to begin with, or are versions of games with that content removed. Nekopara is the latter.
EDIT: Read up! There are a few free ones you can try. Narcissu is on steam, as is Everlasting Summer. But the one I would recommend is Katawa Shoujo.

Happy Birthday, Jawmuncher! Hope you had a great one, and you're only 24 which makes me feel very old.

And welcome back Shadownet and Ozium. :)

Looking forward to REmake, and maybe GTAV(?) this month. The latter series is always better with some mods, so maybe I will wait a bit.

Finished Thomas Was Alone and I'm severely underwhelmed. Any difficult/somewhat challenging puzzle games SteamGAF recommends? Already have the Hexcells bundle.

Just make sure you make your way to Hexcells Plus (and go for those achievements!).

Got my GOTY votes in, looks pretty similar to everyone else's.

Some great games in 2014, can't wait to play some great ones in 2015. Just need my videocard

Waking Mars is, in my opinion, a puzzle game at its core. Each room goes by stars, and to get five stars in each room is pretty darn challenging.

Just finished Year Walk, thanks to arts&crafts for the giveaway copy!

It's a small, tightly focused adventure game that only took about 60 minutes, but man, was it engrossing. Filled with Swedish folklore & Pagan imagery, with a strong collective vision, and only one puzzle that sent me to a cheat sheet :)

I utterly loved it for the story it told, with the haunted atmosphere throughout, and staying short & focused. Really worth a play.

Master the alien ecosystem. Well, I guess if the getting a degree thing doesn't work out for me... Wish listed, thanks!

WTH is the nekomara game on the front page of steam the reviews are cracking me up

A few buddies of mine were watching me 'play' through the demo via steam broadcasting. It's hilarious, both intentionally and unintentionally. One friend and I kept comparing the lives of CatGirls in the game's society to slavery in the US in the 19th century. If you look at it with that mindset its a combination of commentary and accidental allegory.
(For example, some attitudes in the demo portion I played:
catgirls are humanlike but undoubtedly inferior, they can't run shops but will work there, and they're lucky to have their needs taken care of because they're too stupid to look after themselves. And why pay them? They get a roof over their head and food. If you go into the relationships aspect that's a whole 'nother ball game. Not to mention the Main Character's sister asking him to "whisper this morning's sweet nothings" to her (Not even kidding).
There is a hell of a lot to examine about this VN. Course, there's also really cute stuff like Chariot has posted about before. I'd like to pick it up, should be fun to critique and also adorable to read.
