Eh, it all depends on the microtransaction system that is used. Like, MGSV one is absolute shit, Planta vs Zombies Garden Warfare is fine.

Well all good micro-transaction systems are ones who replace season pass/map pack with MT. He is talking about lowering base price and that will happen only if they cut content from game.

For better or worse my office of ~10 people is interested in something we can all play together and talk about. Ostensibly it's team building, but then people decided they want to play Neptune's Pride. My question is has anyone played Subterfuge? And, if so, is it a better one of those games?

Wish me luck, SteamGAF. Not for winning or losing, but just for not making eternal enemies of all those around me, because I don't like to lose at these games and I don't think anyone else is nearly as likely to lie and bribe and swindle.

yeah, it's a possibility

I don't think anything (wrt to gaming) has disgusted me more than the reaction of the community towards paying modders. I guess, in a sense it is the same attitude they always have, but it is so fundamentally different when it directs itself against the very people making the modding scene even a thing. Bit like the snake eating itself. Except that the snake is being so self-righteous about it.

Ok, so the monster fights in Dragon's Dogma are pretty fucking awesome. Took down a Chimera last night along with a Cyclops. So epic.

....Failed a quest because the guy I was 'transporting' died, but eh.

Yeah. Truisms about escort missions hold true in this game.

How it it that the pawn AI is fine, but then the escorted end up being dumb as doorstops?

Anyone looking forward to Dinocide? Looks like a fun romp. I've been following it for some time and quite excited to try it out later. The price isn't awful either, which is great.

Found this to everyone wondering about what an undertale is:

Since the day of its inception, people were asking the question, what exactly is an Undertale?
First misconception we need to address, is Undertale memes? No. It isn't. Memes are merely a by-product of an Undertale.

So what is an Undertale? An Undertale is a piece of media. A piece of media that creates a special kind of fan base. A fan base that can be classified as obnoxious, but that's not clear or specific enough. This fan base either assumes that everyone on the planet is a part of it, and they are eager to share their in-jokes and references, or, through the use of said references, attempts to convert others who are not a part of it, convince them to join their ranks.
And while the intentions may be pure, in the end, these attempts almost always lead to a case of Justin Beaver Syndrome, where anyone exposed to an Undertale, gets a strong feeling that whatever it may be, it most certainly is overrated and can not be as good as it is described. Even if there was a possibility of a person experiencing an Undertale in the future, the constant barrage of nonsense, that makes that person cringe, recoil, and ask, "Is this memes?" makes sure that it won't happen.

An example, using a prominent Undertale Rick and Morty, since I am not well-versed in the Undertale that is Undertale, the game:
Three people are discussing their plans for the evening. One of them proposes, "Let's get schwifty!" A reasonable response from a second person, someone who has no idea what Rick and Morty is would be, "Huh?" to what person three may say, "Shit on the floor!" and start laughing. Person one joins them, adding, "Watch Rick and Morty, you scrub! Wubba Lubba Dub Dubs!" Person two is utterly confused by this point, but from this encounter with an Undertale they learn one thing: Rick and Morty is complete nonsense and they should stay away from it.

So, in conclusion, a TLDR version, an Undertale is a piece of media that creates a fan base that constantly references its content with no regard to whether or not whoever they are talking to would get said reference, or even be interested in it in the slightest.

It did also have to do with the fact that modders were acting out in all kinds of disgusting manners themselves. Pulling content and putting it behind a paywall, emptying out old workshop items and putting empty TXTs in there to force the content out of a players game... It was a shit-fest, and it wasn't at all handled how it should've been.

Paying for mods is fine, but it demands a certain level of quality, and without curation it's rather problematic. Mount & Blade's expansion Viking Conquest is basically a paid-for mod, and it's worth it and it works and all that jazz. Then there's the kind of mods you already see as paid-for stuff in Valve's various MT-fueled games aswell as KF2 and Rust.

Forcing a proper licensing system would fix that. As an example, let's consider a two-tier system: If you release some mod under a free license, that particular version always stays that way. Of course, the modder could take down the content, but anyone else should be able to upload it somewhere else. Should be regulated in the license, with all the necessary caveats and exceptions.

It is different for a new version, even if only to fix bugs. There you could release it under a new, possibly commercial, license. I don't think abuse would be too much of an issue. It would regulate itself, if you think somebody is an asshole, don't buy his stuff. Especially if the tools are free to anyone, anybody else could pick up the slack and release it for free, possibly even using the old stuff, if the free license allows reuse.

And it also totally depends on the price and the mod. Something like SkyUI, that totally saves the game, is worth a few bucks, for me personally anyway.

Penn Jillette and Randy Pitchford open DICE summit next month with talk on magic, lying - Polygon

Penn Jillette, the talkative, towering half of Penn & Teller, will take the stage with Gearbox's Randy Pitchford to kickoff next month's DICE summit with a talk about the art of engagement, organizers announced this morning.

The talk, entitled Assumptions and Expectations with Interactivity and Magic, will have Jillette and Pitchford discussing the art of misdirection, expectation disruption and "just plain old-fashioned lying."

There's not much to go on, but Little Stone is the developer responsible for the PC port of Valkyria Chronicles, so those various LS-branded "test apps" could be other Sega PC ports.
