Man, Mark of the Ninja is good. But I have to stop playing... because I'm job hunting. The latter is just a tad more important, haha.

I love the mechanics of it, but the level progression set-up's very disappointing. So many of the traps set to spring on you, even early on, work only because the game's very lenient with checkpoints. It's like, instead of letting me get caught but come back in just a bit with a clearer understanding of the situation, some areas are built solely to capitalize on endless respawning. This is why I'm so disinterested with Super Meat Boy-style platformers. I personally want to have a full game over if I fuck up, not descend into an asset-driven death march towards game completion. A premise like this only seems fit for achievement hunting, not learning the tricks of the game as I go along. The game's still fun, but this problem's gimping it.

Another reason I refuse to touch Dustforce.

Just spent a few hours playing Broforce local three player. So. Much. Fun! I was also surprised at how fun the Explosion Race mode is. Gave tons of laughs even if it took way too many tries for someone to complete each stage.

Yea it was a ton of fun and hilarious! Good times :D

I started playing Mark of the Ninja earlier. Pretty cool game so far.. I kind of suck though.

Yeah, it is very good indeed.
Maybe you think you suck now, but once you get the hang of it you'll get to appreciate the level design that gives you freedom to approach a level in different ways, i.e. you can stealth all the way or kill all enemies, so there's a lot of replay value in there.

By the way thank you Storm360 for Arma gold edition!

Saoirse Ronan was a famous actress during the day, but at night she fought crime on the back of her prized alpaca. People came from far and wide to shower her with gifts.

Your post reminded me that Apotheon is releasing next month (not by the same folks or anything, but it is a 2D side-scroller ;)). Still no word on beta access, though.

Edit: "Click here for your Steam key" on my Humble order page made my heart skip a beat, but it's just the key for Capsized, haha. :(

If all goes well, maybe I'll get a chance at making this into a film one day. :p

Roulette finally landed on something that looks short and, hopefully, should scale well. Should I try Scourge: Outbreak? It's probably the Marlow Briggs of its genre (would make sense given that it came in a bundle for cheap), but I'm fine with some jank if the game's got some killer stuff going on.

Here are some Humble Bundle spares I'd forgotten about:

Does anyone here played Titan Quest? How long is the game with the expansion pack?

With the expansion pack, I think you'd get a good 40 to 50 hours depending upon how meticulous you are. The game without the expansion took about 35 hours with a co-op buddy of mine.

You're looking at around 50 hours at the least (if there's one thing you can't say about the games it's that they're lacking in content). I hope Nordic hits up Crate for a sequel once Grim Dawn's expansion is complete.

Yeah, I understand what you mean about checkpoints. I love Super Meat Boy myself, but I appreciate checkpoints in Mark of the Ninja mostly because I'm strained for time when there are more pressing matters to attend to (IE: my life, ack). It's true that some mechanics are learned through trial and error with a convenient check point placed right before, but I can always enforce strict rules on myself if I ever want a challenge (restarting the level, if that's even a possibility). But, as you said, the game is still fun! And, that's really what matters most.

I'd pay to watch that.

Was it really that long? I played the base game without AddOn back in the day and I don't remember it to be that long, 20 hours at most. But my memories might be fuzzy here.
Seems like the game is really pretty lengthy.

I like that we've been setting up games recently. Dunno if I missed those before and it isn't a new development, but regardless it's great to play games with you guys.

I find that the game's sprawling to a fault -- it seems to go on forever. I began playing through the main campaign again last year and it took me 20 hours to reach the second act. I would have kept going, but I lost my save and didn't feel like starting the journey from the beginning.

Always Sometimes Monster

I don't know if I like this game or not. In the very beginning you can get a bad end really fast by selecting a certain choice. Which I did choose even though I knew it was not the right one. Pretty much the basic set up is you chose a character by talking to someone during a particular party scene. It was pretty confusing at first who I was going to be playing as until I got the gist of what was happening. From what I understand the game simulates the struggle of being out of work and trying to make rent. It places a big emphasis the choices you make on how you're going to earn cash to pay rent. I don't believe there's a morality checker, so there are no right/wrong choices to make. I'm sure the player is supposed to meet some parts in the game where your moral stance on things is going to be questioned.

The biggest gripe I have with this game is the lack of an options menu allowing you to change the movement to WASD. Other than that it seems like a real slog to go through which is going to run my patience quite quickly. Perhaps once I get further into the game is when it will really click for me. Overall I would recommend this game if you like role playing a person going through a shitty time in their life.

I'm not sure if I should be glad I got you the game, since you seem to be on the fence about whether you like it or not :/

Portuguese super atomic death robots exercising a little gunboat diplomacy.

In a failed bid at a cultural victory with Portugal I went for a high score/time victory with Autocracy and could've won a science victory by turn 497. I even managed to research future tech numerous times, which isn't something I normally do going for a hard science victory with Order/Science geared Civs and isn't something I expect out of Autocracy. I didn't even have Patronage (usually a core policy track of a science run for me) but culturally dominating France meant I got a shitton of science from them via trade routes.

I love Civ V BNW's modern and advanced military units (Advanced Armor can upgrade to Super Atomic Death Tanks, Paratroopers become Xcom units) but you rarely get a lot of time to use them. I kind of wish there was a futuristic scenario in Civ V, like the steampunk one, but now it's just waiting for Beyond Earth. I can't wait to make the borg and then "liberate" humanity.

Trying to read this thread after being away for just nine hours is kind of what I imagine living with schizophrenia is like. It only gets more confusing the more pages I go back.

I love SteamGAF so much.

...you know, the fact that Fallout: New Vegas just locked up for me during the end credits, forcing me to kill it through the task manager, pretty much says everything there is to be said about the stability of the game. Never change, Obsidian. :p

In fairness, that one is Bethesda's fault.

Obsidian teaming up with Bethesda - getting to the end credits at all is one of those "never tell me the odds" situations

Ah, the Suguri games were in Groupees' second doujin bundle, not the first one. What a nice surprise. Not buying the original bundle is probably my biggest bundle-related regret thus far.

Not buying the second is mine. I was on vacation the entire time it ran, but still.
