oooh Claire, nice one Dusk. I enjoyed what I played of it

It was better in that you could carry all of your weapons, but I'd rather you carry fewer ones, and just be able to hotkey them to the d-pad. I hated using the cross in the heat of battle. Also the inability to outright rub herbs on you face, instead of having to combine them beforehand.

As a pro-tip if you didn't know, pressing H (keyboard controls, it's a button combo on a controller) will automatically make you combine your herbs to pills to the best possible combination.

The actual inventory is annoying though, but the only time you need to deal with it is if you want to throw something away.

I don't know why people shit on RE5 so much either, but that said, I personally do think RE4 is a better designed game, but think RE5 is a fantastic co-op experience. But RE5 kind of follows RE4's blueprint too closely, I think.

RE4 also is very hammy and seems proud of it, which is all in good fun. While I think there's a few more atmospheric moments as well.
My problems with RE5 are because of its co-op nature and the adjustments it makes for that. I can't play it just whenever I want, I need someone along with it because solo Sheva turns into more of a babysitting annoyance than Ashley ever was. I didn't like that your abilities were nerfed to emphasize co-op either, how roided up Chris seems to have all sorts of trouble getting an infected off him while Leon would be kicking a Ganado in the face in a second, and things like needing help to get out of the low health state.

I also happen to really enjoy inventory Tetris and the benefits that inventory pausing brought to combat. I juggle weapons all the time in RE4, I can go between a pistol, shotgun, rifle, and grenade all in the same encounter right when the moment calls for it -- but because of the constant realtime nature of 5 and the more limited scope of its inventory I just kind of end up playing it bland and safe.

It's also kind of goofy when 5's Salvador equivalent runs up to you then pauses to contemplate chopping off your head.

I don't think RE5 is terrible and I wouldn't find it odd if a person said they liked it or whatever, but I just can't get myself to ever want to play it over 4 so it ends up forgettable because of its co-op gimmick.

There are so many solutions to that seminal mmo issue that have been developed over the last 10-15 years that it disturbs me when a brand new game still has that problem and makes me wonder how many other design mistakes they will make. Game does look neat though.

I keep considering picking up Space Rangers but I can't shake the feeling that it will be bundled soon, 1C is one of the most pervasive bundlers of all the publishers out there.

I was planning on waiting for a possible bundle, but free is free and it's been highly recommended to me several times.

Noticed sometimes that game updates are 0 bytes. Just got one like that for Trails in the Sky.

Noticed a game called NeonXSZ on the coming soon list. Makes me want a brand new Descent. I'll keep an eye on the game.

So I'm playing GunMetal and it inspired me to look up other 3rd person shooter mech games on the OG Xbox and...

Holy shit Metal Wolf Chaos needs a release on Steam!

Who owns the rights to this now?

So did you like the game?

Yeah totally, when quest 2 on a beta weekend has an issue as bad as that I can't imagine how launch will be, maybe the further you get away from the starting area the better it will be but still it's a bad problem to have. Hopefully beta means beta to them and they can fix it before launch.

My concern would be that they think it's more a feature than a bug. Some people still cling to those old mmo tropes as if they weren't huge flaws, and it drags games down more often than not. Yes, it's largely a problem that solves itself once the populations drop and spread out, but it still most often makes things miserable as you described.

I was planning on waiting for a possible bundle, but free is free and it's been highly recommended to me several times.

If I could spend GMG credit on it I probably would bite, but I buy enough off of Amazon that credit there is as good as cash to me. I may spend some card money on it by the end of the weekend but I'll probably just wait, if it doesn't get bundled by the winter sale I'll just pick it up then. I just got Endless Space over the summer sale and really need to sink some more time into it. And I've had Startopia for a while and have yet to even install it x.x

Any news on that Resident Evil 5 patch yet?

also what are the chances DMC4 gets a steamworks patch?

They added RE5 to a 'Test Comp' package but haven't touched RE5 or the package yet.

Why would they patch DMC4? It doesn't have GFWL and is considered to be an amazing PC port. Dogg was recently running it at 8K and still getting above 60 frames.

RE5 is still the better game in my book. I liked a lot of the changes to the gameplay over RE4 that helped make it faster paced. Even with the coop partner added I never had an issue with her. She was a pretty viable team member and I only ever recall her screwing me over rarely. Even when starting the game on veteran.

Oh right I remember you were looking for it. It'll be up for 4 days, so don't worry.
It's part of a Games From Paris sale[/URL

I think I love you almost as much as I loved Heavy Rain. Need more David Cage in my life.

Need to find a way to tweet this out to Starbreeze so they know the things I am willing to do in order to play their games.

How is this not on PC?

This fucking game isn't sold anywhere in this country, and that makes me really sad. I could borrow it from a friend who lives next door, but I want to have it in my own collection. Ever since I tried the first half hour at his home, I've been dying to play (and own) this.

I just finished watching The Banshee Chapter, scariness is subjective but adding that to my fairly small list of horror films I actually find fucking scary. Seems to have had mixed reviews, though. It's fine, there's horror movies that are kind of love it/hate it affairs I end up liking, such as I Can See You and Skew.

Also, hi GAF.

A giveaway I can endorse!

The races in Sleeping Dogs are seriously some of the worst gaming segments ever. They're not even races. The rubberbanding is so fierce that all it boils down to is did you get lucky enough to not have a CPU slingshot past you in final segment.

That's the one. I can never play a game with the same people twice. :c

It seems to happen more often when there's somebody in the game with a lousy internet connection. Does it happen in every room? Are you the one with the bad connection?

As long as you have a fast enough car it's usually pretty easy to get out in front and stay there. Just don't try to race with the cheapest car in a class.

So did you like the game?

Yeah, very much overall, although my extremely positive initial feelings are not the same as I finished the game, that were a little more underwhelming, incidentally as I have said I've spent a lot of that time doing side quests, grinding, and levelling my character; as a reference I have spent way less time on Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, that I also enjoyed completing a lot of stuff and side missions.

All the right elements for an adventure game are there: the feeling of being stranded on a mysterious island
with opposite factions fighting for the possession of some artifact
which reminded me somehow of Lost, the awesome music - the guitar tune in the bandits camp has grown on me -, the beautiful setting, when I started the game I was feeling like that was one of the best games I had ever played, unfortunately when I finished the game I felt the game falls short of its premises and potential
speaking of which where does our initial companion vanish after the first chapter?
, besides it has lots of glitches, yet I think it's a very good game.

I know it doesn't have GFWL, i just want steam achievements and cards for it. >.>

I would love to see that, but I would rather see Capcom put those resources elsewhere. RE5 patch, DR2/OTR patch, DMC3 patch, Dragon's Dogma.

I've never had the chance to play RE5 and I hope Capcom does the right thing with that game.

the c class races sucked but weren't too bad once you know the layout

the b/a class races were easy for me since I bought the fast cars for their respective classes
