Trying to play platform games is hard with that controller and I kinda bought it to play platformers.

Dualshock 3 remains the king of PC controllers for me. What it lacks in comfort and plug-and-play is more than made up for in durability and versatility. If a PC game supports controllers, analog or digital, XInput or DirectInput, the DS3 will work with it.

For Alien Isolation, better with KB+M or controller? Most FPS's are KB+M for me, but I have a feeling that won't matter for shit in this game, and controller worked well for my short time with the PS4 version.

No, they are just bored by the same old discussions especially since we've mostly moved on from the DS3 (though the DS4 has it's own set of bad issues). I'm playing some game on PS3 right now and the old DS is and will forever be a subpar controller in every aspect but the dpad (still not great) and battery life that should've gotten a redesign two gens earlier. Fuck that thing.

I strangely do not have neither. I do have a ps3 controler but dont use it because it requires wired connection. I see its uses but I just haven't... I may get a steam controller though...

i tried the one controller , its nice , but its very noisy and the RB , LB button are very hard to press

Huh, that's about how I feel regarding the 360 controller. The xbox one controller is a little better, but it still doesn't feel right.

I love my DS3s old keyboard/mouse, but it was much easier to just roll with my modded DS4s new keyboard/mouse since I don't have to replace the native bluetooth driver and deal with installing scarlet crush as a service.

I am looking forward to the steam controller, as it looks to be even more versatile than the DS3/DS4. Still want to try it for myself to see how well it works with shmups and platformers.

Also, out of everyone using DS3 controllers, I'm probably the only guy who is intentionally using MotioninJoy, haha.

Symmetry will always be better than asymmetry for me and weight is something I consider important an that's why I still find the sixaxis the best pad to play with: light and with the sticks in a symmetrical position.

I use a 360 controller, I just don't feel the need to say I do as you mentioned. What I use varies from game to game and whatever allows me to play as lazily as possible.

I originally got it mainly for emulated games, since I was tired of playing them with my keyboard (not great for shmups or platformers, although JRPGs work fine generally with a keyboard), especially in 3D ones.

This is why I'm not playing until they're all out. There's something about waiting.

I use a 360 controller, I just don't feel the need to say I do as you mentioned. What I use varies from game to game and whatever allows me to play as lazily as possible.

Resourcefulness. I tried using my DS3 once, it was in Outland. Felt too awkward. Had to go back to xbox. Never trying at it again since most games operate on the xbox buttons anyway.

Such a shame that BetterDS3 requires that driver because it is one versatile little program.

Good to hear that about the new xbone controller, been looking for people with hands-on with it, especially because of the bumper changes.

The bumpers are hugely improved. Its actually closer to the 360 controller now in that you can press them anywhere instead of having to lay your fingers on them to get a good press. This was my only complaint and I'm glad they fixed it.
