STEAM | July 2015 - Nothing To Buy With Our Arkham Knight Refunds

So we just have to hope for MGSV to be horribly, horribly broken.

I doubt it. I think the $25 guess is about right, but will hold out for $20.

If enough of us don't bite at $30, the price will start declining because someone will just want to get rid of it. Once the first person sells for $28, they should all come down to $28, and then someone will undercut for $25, etc.

Just be patient.

well, we can always hope that a bunch of console peasants break and sell their codes so they can pick up the game a couple of weeks early or something...

everyone shuttup and let me live in my own little fantasy world

Console peasants? I see your true colors now...

Is it going to still be Gears 1 style rules ala 4v4? I know some bits and bobs from Gears 3 are coming over like Tac Com marking and such.

Forgot all about that. It should be having the match types from Gears 3. So if you can just do it in Team Deathmatch that simplifies things.

I'm out of loop with thing like this, but how does buying steam codes work? This is regarding the MGSV: The Phantom Pain steam codes that will be sold sooner or later.

I'm from the UK, so can I only buy Steam codes from someone who bought it from a UK retailer or can it be from anyone? I'm worried about region locking.

Oh shit I forgot they're bringing over TDM too. Yeah much more pick up and play friendly.

Hmmmm well I'm a long, long way from having those skills in my locker. How do you even boost that far without flying all over the shop?

you have to make sure you don't angle the car too much when you're controlling it in air...I'm terrible at it

Thanks! I fully understand that if Enhanced Steam were a paid application or something I did for a living that I would totally want to have a version available for every browser, in addition to continuing to work on the Standalone application for people who browse Steam exclusively through the client.

The problem is that Enhanced Steam isn't making any money. In fact, for most of it's existence it's cost me hosting fees that I've paid out of pocket in combination with funds generously donated by users via Patreon.

But more important than money, my time is the scarce resource and the reason I've dropped support for Firefox and the Standalone application. I work a full time job now, am married, and have two teenagers at home - one that's going to be starting college in the fall. I'm having health-related issues. I also like to spend my downtime gaming, like most of the rest of you. Version 7.6 of Enhanced Steam took about 30-35 hours to create, in total, over the course of a few weeks. This version was a little different in that it had components of a web-based survey that also had to be constructed.

I estimate that a Firefox version of the same features would take probably 15-20 hours to fully implement and troubleshoot, assuming of course that the code base were already up-to-date with Enhanced Steam 7.5.2, which isn't the case. If I had to give a professional job estimate on implementing all of Enhanced Steam's changes from 7.3 through 7.6 into Firefox and testing it would probably be around 75 hours. For the Standalone I'd say easily 150+ hours, possibly more.

It sucks because I would honestly love to see an updated version of Enhanced Steam for Firefox probably just as much as the people using it. But I simply don't have the time it would require to dedicate to the project, while still having enough time to fulfill all of my other day-to-day duties.

Sometimes I wish I could be like those people on Reddit that you read about who are like "This Youtube celebrity raised enough money to quit their job and do Let's Play videos full time!" but given the fact that people donate barely $150 a month (every penny of which goes towards server expenses) I'm ever going to make enough money to survive from it exclusively.

Make "Let's Code"s and put them on Youtube =P
Just you streaming your screen + PIP webcam view of yourself in the corner typing code.

Write some code.
Code not working.
Change the code.
Code not working.
Swear.
Change the code.
Code not working.
Go grab a beer.
Drink a bit.
Find the error.
Swear.

I would actually watch that. Might be because I'm a developer though.

It depends on the game -- some publishers are overly anal about region-locking while others don't bother with it at all. In Konami's case, in recent years it hasn't been a fan of Asia, but only when it comes to Steam Store availability and activating retail keys rather than actually playing the games. Couple that with the fact that the UK is a rest-of-world region and it's safe to say you have nothing to worry about.

I bought a Wii U yesterday afternoon (the Splatoon bundle) as well as Super Mario 3D World and DKC: Tropical Freeze. Are you proud of me?

Thank you. I hope Konami aren't anal about it in this case.

was that you Salsa or you just posting that gif? because that's like some super high level shit

Salsa is actually pretty decent at the game. Played a few rounds with him, Dogg and me in a team together. He was good at defending and generally football. Dogg was getting quite a few goals in. Meanwhile I was thrilled if I even managed to hit the ball in the right direction. We did well until we ran into really tough opponents (the bots).

I really do think we could get together 6 or 8 folks from this thread and have a good bit of fun in private games. Latency doesn't really matter a whole lot in a game this imprecise by design.

If only someone diligent could set up a game night like the Chivalry folks are doing. Weekend coming up too so it would be the perfect time.

Yeah and TESO for $40 (even though it's supposedly part of the "daily deal") is especially a crock of shit since it was $12 on GMG not even a few hours ago.

I paid full price on Steam and don't regret it though

I'm glad I finally got Skyrim's dlc for $8 getting the legendary edition on GMG o_o. They're charging more for it than they did during the summer sale just a month ago.
The sad thing is it's actually selling to at $20 >_>

However, you guys should pick up the Talos Principle if you missed it during the summer sale. It's got the same discount as it did then and it's definitely worth it.

im p.cool with where I am after just a couple hours played

game is hectic but being totally honest; reason why I think I got the hang of it fast is that im applying the same stuff I do on real life futbol, in terms of where im positioned and all. game is actually way more strategic than I thought something like this would

those games were fun

more jelly than proud

that's future me. I bought the game yesterday :p

I've finished Sword of Asumi, probably won't even do "my thoughts" post as I don't think anybody will play it.
I lied, you will play it after I say that it has lesbian romance, that some of you wanted so much, although innocent one, knowing steam and all

I played it too. It was okay as far as a story about a busty ninja assassin that goes undercover into a school full of gifted warriors could be.

Also it's by the same person that's doing Beach Bounce http://store.steampowered.com/app/352010/
I noticed that they are reusing some backgrounds

Way of the Samurari 4 is jank, very publicly tried to assassinate the minister and killed over a dozen guards and 5 minutes later I'm escorting an ambassador to see him with no mention of what happened. Tsk tsk tsk!

Still fun though.

I actually liked all idea and infiltration, undercover assassin routine well enough, that's why I could stick with it till the end (btw some lessons were nicely done, like poetry one), I only wish that writing and character art was much better, and that blushing, omg that blushing, I would blush in exasperation myself if I knew how.

I'm not sure I have it in me to play Beach Bounce, tho.

It's certainly not a serious game, it's probably better to keep that in mind.
