The new episode of the HideoTube was so good. Kojima talking about making the DS trailer and all the behind the scenes stuff at E3. The best episode they've done so far imo. A lot of great insight.

Total Warhammer's Beastman DLC has a storepage now--out July 28. Adds the titular race with all the trimmings, and a "story campaign," all for ~USD$15. Steep, but dammit that game is so fun I'm considering it.

EDIT: Holy hell, I just saw the TV news, what the hell happened in France :(
Stay safe french GAF.

oh boy

despite making 45k a month on patreon, the porn game breeding season was cancelled

Shitty devs can't handle shitty situations :/

From reddit
This shit wouldve never been completed either way. The project leader, Hbomb, was a lazy and dismissive jackass who had the leadership skills of a headless chicken. The game has been getting stupid amounts of money for a decent few years now, and yet the progress they madr is completely laughable. For context, they have been making this game for 6 years, and were only in early alpha, and where planing to have an actual Beta during early 2020, and release 4-5 years after beta. Any criticism, from random patrons to actual game developers where dismissed as being whiny children. Only one artist actually worked. Rest just fucked around and did absolutely fuck all.
This shit was never going to be released to begin with. Any person who followed the development for a decent time knew this. The fact that its dead means that the devs wont be able to milk people for money anymore.

This game is going to be similar to Factorio, an Early Access release that has already been in development for years and is an advanced state of polish and content already.

Pity about the whole Steam key thing.

Impressions of first few hours of Alien Isolation: holy shit. This is a terrifying game, and I've only had one real Alien encounter. In mission 4, playing on hard difficulty. I'm playing with headphones and the sound does so much to improve immersion. I'm impressed by the attention to detail, visually it's a pure homage to the original film. The Alien even moves like the original film, it's clear the influence is 100% Scott.

I was aware of the praise this game got, but I'm still stunned by how much this team nailed everything. I hope I can make it to the end.

Did everyone receive that free key for Lead and Gold from Fatsharks giveaway? They are saying all the keys are now gone but i never even got mine.

I think you might have misunderstood what he's said there. While i'm unsure about if the promising keys thing is true or not as many, many other games have done it before the game was on Steam, the way he's worded the FAQ and other things is to specifically imply people will get the keys, but he just isn't allowed to say that until he game is out. The November 4, 2014 date is because that's the date when he was asked to stop promising keys.

I think at the time he was promising the keys, the game wasn't even accepted to greenlight, so depending on how he worded it that could have seemed like he was saying you'd get a key to try to get more votes, which isn't allowed on the greenlight FAQ. I'm not sure what exactly he said back then so that might be wrong though, but it would be one explanation for why it doesn't fit in with other games being allowed to sell them.

gave away the keys to the kingdom.

There is no such policy:

If my game is accepted through Steam Greenlight, can I give my previous customers keys for the Steam version?
Once your game is accepted for distribution on Steam, we will give you as many keys for your game as you want at no cost.

It'd be utterly nonsensical and have quite the detrimental effect on, in particular, Greenlight bundles and the like.

In addition to the above, the clarification he offered was less than two months ago and is also completely untrue (A Hat in Time, Pillars, Torment, Underworld Ascendant... the list goes on -- and these are games that offer/ed pre-release access via Steam after their respective crowdfunding campaigns).

Looks like ol' someguyinahat done won himself another hidden object game and got himself in a whole heap o' trouble.

it's kinda funny, cuz about a week ago I asked in the thread do you have it and was going to give you a key, but you never answered, so I assumed you do.

i'm still on the fence. and not necessarily for the price (3,50 isn't exactly a small fortune), it's a matter of time. i didn't like bastion, spent 13 hours on it. the art and atmosphere was good, but the gameplay was extremely repetitive.

they seem to have nailed the art and atmosphere again in transistor (and on top of that i'm a HUGE cyberpunk fan), but bastion didn't leave a great impression on me.

It's bit shorter than Bastion, taking maybe 6 hours to complete the main story. The gameplay is anything but repetitive, it encourages you to experiment with your 'programs', mixing and matching them to see what you can do, while the enemy types and plot progresses at a good pace.

That is is no such policy is something i pointed out on the games forum 2 years ago https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=7498.0. When i said the Greenlight FAQ says the opposite and there is nothing to suggest he shouldn't be allowed, he said this:
Void, you're correct. In fact I don't know any more than you do; Valve's policies are there to read. Bottom line is, I can't promise anything.

So it seems he doesn't actually know what the actual reason is, just he was asked to stop. Tynan said this as well at one point though:

The reason it's like this is because Valve policy doesn't allow us to promise Steam keys to people indefinitely. They seem to be generally cool about it when it's just for a Kickstarter or something, but after a while policy kicks in. They're running a business and they only make money off Steam sales, so I see their position on this.

I'm sorry for creating a bit of heartbreak about this. I'm going to see if I can get keys for people who may have missed the official deadline, but I definitely can't promise anything. Obviously I want to give as much as possible! But Valve's policies do win in this situation.

None of it makes any sense to me. A huge amount of games promise Steam keys years in advance and nothing happens - Factorio, for example. I'm fairly sure Factorio promised Steam keys before Rimworld did and was allowed to do so up until it was released years later. I have absolutely no idea why Valve would ask Tynan to stop, but i don't think he's the sort who would lie about it and then turn around and say he actually will give people keys. It's most likely just a misunderstanding of some sort if it is true.

That's my interpretation of the dev's comments as well. The developer want to promise the keys, but someone told them they can't (even if that was incorrect), so they're in this nebulous state of having to dance around the question.

If I had the money right now I'd totally get Rimworld. Game always looked cool. I assume it will cost 30 bucks just like on their site.

Will 'Crowdfunding is a scam!' posts become a bannable offense in gaf?
Another Star Citizen thread, yet another shitposting paradise.

If they're low effort posts like that, they should be.

However talking about how people should smartly invest their money and perhaps take caution when funding kickstarters is an important conversation to have.

Man I wish they would, or at least the level of posting in that thread. Just makes me sad that people are so willfully ignorant.

The problem is that those people are complaining without even following the game.

Its like if I would say
"TF2 hasnt been updated in years!"
