I usually prefer navigating the Store etc with the regular interface, though.

I need some help. My PS4 controller has been working fine with Steam the past few days, but I can't get it to recognize it today no matter what I do. I've power cycled it, restarted Steam, turned the options on and off, tried in BPM, tried turning it on before and after Steam has started. Nothing works.
Edit: Steam does actually have it listed when it's turned on, and selecting turn off will work. But it doesn't navigate the menus or anything.

Have you tried setting it up with Steam? Open up BPM > Gear Icon > Controller Settings > Generic Controller.

I'm going to hold out on preordering it in the hopes that they come to their senses before launch. Because geez. The Canadian dollar has been incredibly weak for a few years now, and yet Steam games are as expensive as ever; it's messed up.

Came off of an epic XCOM: EW /TLW campaign that had me SUPER-high on the franchise. So I pre-ordered the XCOM 2: Digital Deluxe version, frothing with anticipation.
Fired up the game on launch day and proceeded to spend the next couple hours trying to get it to run over 20 fps. Then I took the high road, thinking the game obviously came in hot and would be buttoned up soon enough. Two months later...nothing.
I think I have about 4 hours logged into XCOM 2 and the majority was spent either trying to adjust settings for a reasonable frame-rate that never happened or trying to convince myself that 20 fps or less was a "reasonable frame-rate" for a TBS game. LOL.
Man, F that game.

I need to not suck at Long War 2 before I get the XCOM 2 expansion.
It runs like total shit, but apparently that's largely due to destructible enviornments being super taxing? Idk.

This is driving me mad. Nothing has changed. I resynced it with Windows. Steam still shows it, but if you try to change the preferences(color, rumble, etc) it doesn't save anymore. It's there, it's just not fucking usable.
Ah, right. Well, the game is also on sale on Amazon UK and actually a little cheaper there (approx. USD$5.80).

A while back I converted from DS4 windows to solely Steam config drivers, and I had way too much fucking issues between Steam not saving changed presets, to the right stick not working, to the controller not being recognized at all, plus a number of other annoying little shit. It just isn't worth the fucking hassle and went back to ds4windows as that pretty much gave me 99% confidence.

Bizarrely it seems to be the same price in Australia as the USA, now that is most definitely a price error knowing 2k.
So is this a totally new campaign or a total conversion like Enemy Within?

An expansion like Enemy Within, integrated into the existing campaign. There's a great 80 minute look at it with the lead designer, Jake Solomon.
As much as the price frustrates me, I'm really looking forward to it.
Such a lust for proper PC ports of a great franchise that would make Konami quite a bit of money.

I use it when I'm on steam link. DS4 support is a godsend, its touchpad is enough to replace most of the games I play that require mouse input. Steam controller can be uncomfortable.

The only times I've used BPM are when I misclick the minimize button and when the guide button on a controller accidentally gets hit and BPM decides to rear its ugly head. Even after disabling the guide button activating BPM it somehow reactivated itself in horror movie fashion so I give up, just stab me already.
What if the new client, is
just Big Picture mode, but slightly scaled down for Desktop use.

If a game offers gamepad support, I will always use my 360 controller, and yet I cannot bring myself to use big picture mode even though it's pretty good from what I have tried.
I guess I'm just top used to the normal steam interface.

Since steam input started supporting xinput, I use the BPM overlay all the time since I can set it to auto-use that if the controller is powered on.
