I laughed out loud because he is literally this second playing Minecraft, patiently awaiting his new graphics card to arrive.

He did have a Radeon HD 6450, so this is a HUGE upgrade for him. He has been itching to play Skyrim (his existing card can run it, but only just barely if everything is on low) so he's looking forward to being able to play with the HD texture pack and 60fps, which this card should be able to handle.

He also has been wanting to play Bioshock Infinite and Transistor, neither of which will run at all on his existing hardware.

Well for a giggle and what with the Witcher III love in as off now I thought I'd fire up II and see how I fare on current hardware thought taking in to account having a higher monitor resolution as well. Yep still get smacked down to 40fps in heavy DoF cutscenes at 2560x1440 (granted 1920x1080 files but I moved on long ago and was horible switching back to that resolution) . This is going to be fun come February turning everything down again

I really wish someone would start turning out shooters in a more classic vein again. Vertical scrollers along the lines of Compile's old output or side scrolling stuff like Gradius, Thunder Force, etc. IMO, bullet hell isn't an improvement on/replacement for that older style - the two can (and really ought to) coexist.

Have you tried Hydorah? It's totally brilliant. Though its weapon system reminds me more of Axelay than Gradius.

Does anyone have Cognition episode 2?

I have 1,3,4 but I don't have 2, and there's no way for me to buy episode 2 individually that I can tell, and I'd rather not pay $30 just for one episode that I'm missing.

GoG extras are always a series of separate downloads, the Steam version of extras get automatically downloaded with the game and is tucked into its own folder in the install directory.

Whichever version of The Witcher 3 you are buying, you will always get the exact same ingame content. The bonuses are merely extras like soundtrack, digital / physical artbook, statue, games, codes for comics etc.

I tried to get into The Witcher 2 and got bored in the first castle/siege type mission right at the start.

Should I restart without the combat mod or keep going with the mod? The mod seems to make things buggy but I don't know what it's like without it.
