Yeah, I preferred 2 over 1 myself. 1 suffers from early-next-gen-itis (i.e. bloom overload) and is set entirely within a casino whereas 2's visual effects are more measured and its campaign set across a wider variety of locations. Both games are good fun in co-op, though, so pair up if you can.

IIRC, Vegas 2 is pretty much a direct sequel to Vegas 1. It takes place in parallel for the most part but by the end it wraps up the first game's unresolved plot threads. It's worth playing both, I think.
