Played through splinter cell conviction... What a depressing game.

It's not even bad. If it was a new IP or any other shooter franchise it would be great. But as a splinter cell game it's utter trash.

The design of the maps forces you to kill practically everyone.

There's very little actual stealth, and what is there is in service of killing dudes.

It's incredibly linear, offering practically no choice other than the critical path.

I'm so glad Blacklist didn't continue with this BS. What a disappointing experience.

Have you even played a single one?

Play? You mean watched / read?

But yes, I played Hatoful for example. Would make for a funny anime. But it's an awful videogame. If you can call it that.

And btw Im not one of those anime haters, quite the contrary.

I understand it gets them money, but honestly it makes it harder to find actual quality titles when the site is cluttered with trash. While, yes money's important I don't really approve of them publishing utter crap (read: softhouse-seal titles, god I think I just puked a little). I have a real distaste for stuff like that. There's good nukige too, so they have no excuse to not publish that instead.

I also really wish they would make an all-ages version of the site, so people who aren't interested in their adult games, can buy their all-ages stuff without having to see adult content. Although, I'm not one of those people, I still think it would be a good idea. JAST does it, and so does SP, so it shouldn't be too difficult. :/

I remember MG having an all ages section on the site, I even think it was the default section you landed on. They had to remove it though didn't they?

VNs are somewhere between reading a book and watching an anime. Of course they suck "as a videogame" if you use rigid definitions.

They're pretty good at what they're trying to do though.

I would hardly consider that enough to make a judgement about the ENTIRE genre. If you think you won't like anything, well you could at least ask for suggestions of VNs that people having trouble getting into VNs, might enjoy. But I kind of get the idea you're not even interested in seeing if there's anything you'll like. Anyway, you're entitled to your opinion, but I still think you should pause a little before judging an entire genre based on only one game.

There are also hybrid VNs that also are other genres like JRPGs or SRPGs. Unfortunately a lot of these are untranslated.

I just wonder why the releases of actual gameplay-VNs is so sparse. I mean there are so much to choose from, but somehow we almost get only VNs, that dont offer any gameplay or the ones that might offer gameplay might be even nukige.

The higher profile the game, the more it costs to license it and the more it'll cost to work on it because there will be more to translate. VNs are getting better sales as of late, especially thanks to Steam, but they don't really have the kind of market that can let these companies tackle the more costly products.
Also, I believe some of the Japanese VN devs don't want the business.

I mean for VisualNovels with gameplay we have Cherry Tree High Comedy Club which I still would recommend to anyone, it's fun, funny and charming. But we actuslly have more of those on handhelds with such things a Ace Attorney or Zero Escape.

You just said splinter cell was trash and you're preaching me about visual novels.

Also, and this might be wildly incorrect, I'm just going by what I see in pictures, most of the ones I see seem to be about romance / high school shit, which is something I would never touch in anime or manga form either.

And why do you even care? You don't see me defending the trash I like :p

Cherry Tree? You control a character and have items and shit to do. People call that a VN?

Well even some of the better nukige can't be that expensive to do. I'd personally like to see them translate some games by Atelier Kaguya, or maybe Omega Star. They might be a bit pricey, considering the high production values (maybe not so much in the case of Atelier Kaguya), but those are some good nukige. Anyways if any of you.want to continue the discussion, we should probably move to the VN thread, or respond hrough PMs or on Steam chat, so as to not clutter the thread talking about games that'll never be on Steam anyways.

I don't really care. Also that comment was a joke.

Funny, that's how I feel about visual novels.

All of them.

Curse you!

I did my first ascension in Clicker Heroes and now I'm doing worse than before I ascended. I have higher DPS and click damage but I can't reach the same level I reached before the ascension. Should I keep ascending or should I invest in summoning ancients? Though the thing about losing Hero DPS in the summon ancient description has me questioning the choice, because if I pick the wrong ancient I fuck myself twice.

Bah, I got a $25 amazon gift card and nothing to pick up. They don't have DMC4SE, and Arkham Knight is already $36 on GMG. Can't buy Gamestop gift cards to trade in for Steam wallet cards either. Fuck you gift cards.

JAST USA and MangaGamer sell a lot of games with nudity. Not on Steam obviously. Also if you want any VN suggestions you should post in the VN thread. Also check out vndb and you can get an idea of what's good.
Tis was a joke question but thanks for letting me know :D lmao

Yes, indeed. Visual Novels are mixed media, hence very diverse in the gameplay. The typical Text + Character representation is just the most common thing. But Visual Novels actually can have other gameplay.

I really hope Spider-man 2 will reach 75% off with the unlock. After that I might be done with this sale and go back to playing Diablo 3.

JaseC, I need your specialist knowledge. Any idea why Arma 2 is in my library but the store doesn't think I own it?

Ditto, I own Arma 2 Arrowhead and Arma 2 Dayz but not Arma 2, however all three appear in my library.

You don't know what you are talking about, VN can be very good if done properly.

I just used IdleMaster on two different games, each for around a hour. Didn't get a single card drop. How come?

Because Valve increased the time for the first card drop because of the refund policy. Takes about 2 to get the first, then they drop normally again, which puts you out of the refund period.

Well he doesn't like Hatoful Boyfriend, so I can't really take him seriously. Also he should be careful if he ever runs into any pigeons, because I doubt they'd be too impressed. Coo!

Anyways, source on that image Ningen?

Got gifted skyrim, totally broke every modders creed and installed like 30 mods before even booting the game up. HERE WE GO~!~!~!

EDIT: CRASHED ON STARTUP HELL YEAH

Thx. Is it any good? I know next to nothing about what's good in anime. Well except the masterpieces, like stuff by Anno or Miyazaki.

Like most LN adaptations, the anime doesn't do as good a job as it could and it has no sequel.

There are some great characters though.

Nice to see DoritosPope paying attention to SFV! No clue who the guy playing is though.

I'd love it if he did a cover of Indestructible, or made a new track for SFV's main theme.

There are good Visual Novels on Steam, even for different tastes. Not everything is crap like that piece of shit that is the Sakuragames. Those naturally suck ass and not even good Actually like a duck with lung cancer. The formely mentioned Cherry Tree High Comedy isn't a stinking pile of garbage like the Sakuragames, If My Heart Had Wings is no mastetpiece? but definitly a good experience with nice character opposed to that cheap dog piss tree in the park with the bums thst piss on the dogs that is the Sakuragames and Analogue has an interesting concept at least, unlike that short fake fucking choice kinetic novel thing that Hitler would call thr Sakura Games.

Oh, it's an LN adaptation? Yeah, well it's kinda the same with VN adaptations too.
VN adaptions usually end though. Unless they are Umineko. LN and Manga adaptions are generally the worst when it comes to unfinished series.
