any programmers here know any good editors for coffeescript? i just want some kind of debugging because two hours of javascript gave me a headache
and i had that headache a few hours before and it went away and i was like yay but then stupid javascript ruined my evening
I know it's not easy to do a proper enemy placement, I only stated it's easy implement it into the game (like swap coordinates saying "X enemy should spawn on D4").
It's like if Blizzard ask you money to grab a rebalancing patch. That is what From did here, my point was around this thing.
i think you really underrate the difficulty of grabbing a whole game and retouching most if not all its encounters (as well as apparently adding new shortcuts?)
it's way easier to balance stats, which is why from themselves have patched the game for free a good number of times already.
is x weapon too strong? just nerf it by y%
the question of an encounter is much more complicated because it's often "is this encounter not interesting enough?" or "is it too frustrating?" and the answers to those questions are complicated as well because you can't really add more enemies or remove more enemies and be done with it
i'm guessing the changes from made were actually well-thought out and address many of the problems in dark souls 2's level and encounter design, by creating new and exciting fights that can be unexpected or thrilling or whatever
hopefully scamco didn't ruin that too
Sorry, can all of you read my posts? I mean it's easy to achieve from a tech side, and I stated this from my first post. Otherwise study a proper enemy placement require work, but I don't know if the new enemy placement is good or not. I only stated in tech terms swap enemies within the map is easy.
From what I saw in the official trailer released by From, it seems they just increased the number of enemies, but that was a trailer.
that's not necessarily correct
for instance, they put an ogre on the way to the bonfire leading to the castle in forest of fallen giants
which if you think about it makes that area a whole lot more interesting since now you have to deal with that big guy as well as the zombie soldiers and just run around trying to dodge its attacks trying not to trigger other enemies from noticing you and chasing after you
and like you get to defeat a strong enemy early on so that bonfire feels like a reward for your progress
that's a cool addition and i think it's why that update sounded so interesting
it's important to know also in regards to my original opinion on these changes that from initially said (or at least wasn't clear enough about it) that the enemy placement portion of the update would be free. my guess is that they felt that the next-gen version was light on content so they changed their minds, but yeah, i was a lot more positive about the scholar of the first sin crap when the enemy placement stuff wasn't locked behind a paywall and the playerbase wasn't going to be split
