Damn, that's a lot of credit.

I once had almost had $550 credit once. Deus Ex Human Revolution did wonders for me as it was like $32 bucks VS some Aussie rip off price on Steam at the time and GMG was offering $5 for referral links. All i did was have my link one 1 Aussie bargain site (similar to Slick Deals) and had cash rolling in.

I am mad at myself for blowing it on shit like Call of Juarez: The Cartel and Stronghold 3 instead of savoring it.

Eventually this DS2 talk will mean something to me. Right now, though, I still haven't gotten around to playing the first one yet, so I'm just going to try not to pay too much attention to anything and hope that I'll have forgotten anything that might be particularly spoilerish by the time I get around to playing.

Before anyone asks, no, this isn't a stealth request to avoid DS2 spoilers in the Steam thread or something, assuming any of this stuff is a spoiler. I just found it amusing that I'm seeing all this talk of "bellbros" and "covenants" and what have you, and it doesn't strike me as remotely spoilerish now because none of it makes a damn bit of sense to me. xD

I've been having a real weird issue in Steam BPM. Basically I can't select any games since my cursor seems to be stuck on switching letters for quickly finding games alphabetically.

This is what my screen looks like when I select view all games in BPM.
YGTTaF4.jpg

If I move my cursor over or press any button, it doesn't go over two boxes or it just goes back to the left and switches between A and B.

I've tried disconnecting my controller to see if that's an issue but it doesn't do anything.

I tried going back to Dark Souls 1 yesterday and was stopped at the gate by gfwl malfunctioning. Tried reinstalling and all the suggested fixes but nothing worked. Fix your fucking game Scamco... you've made enough money from pc gamers to do it.

Something, something... because it wasn't created by R&D1 and Sakamoto. It rubbed me the wrong way after having played Other M. Nobody messes with Metroid Prime while making a mediocre entry.

Yeah, that's annoying. If you're going to let people onto your playground, don't tell them they can't play with the toys. If they didn't want Retro contributing to the series canon, they shouldn't've let them develop a game in that universe in the first place.

So last night in AC IV, I decided to look in the top right of the maps "?". Turns out to be 2 ships, that grew larger and barreled down towards me. I was panicking and retreated while tossing fire barrels around me. Bad idea as I immediately got surrounded in a circle with my own fire barrels and 2 impossibly huge ships that decided to open up an entire city's worth of metal upon my ship. Didn't even make it 10 seconds in battle.

EDIT: Also took over my first fort. I spied an enemy frigate nearby that had over 100 metal, but my damned fort blew it to kingdom come automatically before I got the chance to get to it and board it. FML.

EDIT 2: I need some uPlay friends or something to get these social upgrade weapons, clothing, armor and ship aesthetics. I'm "takahashi69" there, crappy username I know, but I already got like 3 games on it so I can't make a new one.

Yep at the extreme corners of the map are 4 legendary ships. I'd wait until you've fully upgraded the Jackdaw before going after them. Still if you're a 100% nut you need all 4 and I think there's a chieveo behind them as well. If you haven't got it yet get the mortar ASAP as it's stupidly over powered and when mixed in with the rest of your arsenal means you can keep a constant fire rate up on one ship of take on 3 or 4 quite easy at once.

Regards to boarding boats don't go front - front, back - back as you'll get next to no arc on your swivel. Approach the ship from the front and at a slight angle away so you can move your swivel the whole length of the ship. Always wait until the ropes get thrown out from your ship and start from the middle. You'll see the crew on the ship you're boarding trying to cut them lose but you can aim for the powder kegs by the central mast and usually get a good 3 guys in one shot (I've done a schooner in one shot before as it got 5 guys in one) and then move towards the helm and try to take down the captain and anyone trying to cut the boarding rope there. If you haven't got all 10 kills for a brig then use the rope to swing to the ship and air assassination is your friend. Frigates are a little different as you have an optional requirement to capture the ship like destroy the powder kegs or kill the captain.

Just you wait until you meet your first man of war.

I'll hit you up on Uplay when I get near a PC as I'm not popping any White Whales but seeing loads of chests and convoys. Plus you can escort each other's Kenway's Fleet missions to make them go a lot quicker (that trip to Porto is a 15 hour killer otherwise).

That's okay, most fans don't count Other M as canon.

For another type of cannon, Sweezy Gunner is a surprisingly fun top down shooting scroller. Nothing too complicated, but a nice open world you go various dungeons through in a WASD movement and mouse aiming shooter to almost relax to and never feel too burden by even at it's most hectic "bullet hell" moments which aren't too bad.

Here's a fun thing to do when it comes to boarding larger ships in Black Flag: rather than initiating the boarding sequence immediately after the ship is incapacitated, instead jump overboard and board the ship yourself, then kill everybody and blow up the powder barrels for good measure. This is a little easier/quicker than the usual method as there are fewer crew members to deal with and you're not immediately considered a threat, and in most cases, once you've returned to your ship and initiated the boarding sequence, you'll win immediately (the exceptions being when you have to tear down the ship's flag).

... why did I never do that.

Short answer: Sorry, BPM sucks, don't use it. ;)

Some of this stuff isn't really spoilers in my opinion. There's a Sunbro covenant again? There's a cracked red eye orb covenant again? OMG, there's a cracked blue eye orb covenant again? There's still an uchigatana? There's still a giant club? There's still estus flasks and bonfires? o_O

Location similarity spoilers:
There's another blighttown? There's another undead parish? There's another Sen's Fortress?

I don't really think those things are spoilers, any more than finding out that Harry Potter is going back to Hogwarts in yet another book or that Frodo is going to continue trying to go to Mount Doom to destroy the one ring.

None of it will really ruin your explorations or what bits of the story you can figure out through dialogue and item descriptions. None of that even describes bosses or locations.

You'll be fine, I promise. :)

Be a bellbro, put on the bellbro ring and wait to be summoned.

Edit: And I now have a +10 bastard sword.

I was a bellbro for the longest time... I ended up with something like 40 titanite chunks when I got to the point where I had enough large shards to get past +6 and immediately went to +10.

Hahaha. Other M is some sort of abomination from everything I heard... glad I never had a Wii to be tempted to play it.

As far as Sweezy Gunner, I was impressed for one of those WGN freebies for voting for it... however, I've had it lock up on me multiple times and I wish I could just turn it into a twin stick shooter... I made a PGP profile for it, but it's still really easy to push the cursor out of the window and have it click on the desktop when you go to fire (which is even worse considering you can't make the game full screen as far as I had found). That said, I played about 50% completion (just shy), got all the playfire rewards (they still need to have the $0.50 one for breaking 250 objects show up on my account), and plan to go back sometime later this year and at least finish the main "story".

This is the LAST derailment, but the same happened with IGA and Circle of the Moon. I really loved that entry.

What happens when you hit select? Does it select Assault Android Cactus in this case?

Found a Civ V key in my GMG library from preordering X-Com at some point in the past. Might as well go to a good home.

Someone was posting here about playing Blade Symphony. How is it? Can I hope for review of sorts? It doesn't have singleplay at all, does it?

Wood sounds awful hollow.
Uplay why did you take away my save ;-;

I saw the Watch_Dogs Edition thread...

What I fucking hate is that you don't get everything with the Season Pass. Fuck you Ubisoft, definitely not buying the Season Pass now. Should at least get the soundtrack with that.

Buy DedSec and Season Pass and you're good. Not on Steam though. We're screwed.

EDIT: No wait... Vigilante... Fffffuuu...

FFFFUUUUUUUU.....

Considering this was pretty much known waaaay back in August last year I'm surprised at the reactions of shock in that thread and also this has been what UbiSoft has done with most of their bigger releases since AC Revelations (Far Cry 3 and Blacklist had a few less).

There's an air over this game where it seams easy to pick on without really knowing much. Realistically you could do what most people did with AC: Rev, III, and IV and buy the standard edition and pick up the pack with all the DLC at a later date.

If you get the DD on Steam you get most of the good stuff (the base game, Sony exclusive missions and the 3 preorder DLC packs plus 1 extra bonus skin) so it's not exactly like it's a minefield. :/

It's only if you want the physical extra you have so many different editions. And the rhetoric that is usually banded about around those is "it's just tat that you look at once" so you may as well say 4 of those editions don't even exist if you want to go digital then there are really only 3 options. Standard Ed, Digital Deluxe and the Uplay Deluxe which has only 4 more skins over the Steam counterpart but if you must have them pick up the season pass and you'll have everything in game.

Now that's not that hard now is it.

I don't really care I just hate Season Passes that don't include all the content. Got burned by it before (particularly with the Saints Row games), I don't even bother with them anymore unless I know I'm getting everything.

Thanks for laughs.
I don't think I ever bought dlc for an AssCreed game, at least I don't remember buying, I plan to do the same in the future. Voting with my wallet and all that.

What's even worse SR passes have no info in their description that they include small part of dlcs, you get to know this only after buying. This I hate even more, at least they could tell what they sell.

Man I think Paris can be super pretty depending on which neighbourhood you're in but it absolutely is a clusterfuck. Doesn't mean it's impossible to navigate, but it is, just like Rome I imagine, the very opposite of a planned city...

While the metro map looks like a clusterfuck, it is not in reality: it is very easy to go from one point of the city to any other by relying solely on one or two (it is very rare to have to change twice) lines of the metro. The only problem with the metro is the huge amount of stairs, which makes in unpractical for elderly people and pregnant women. Moreover, you have to keep in mind the metro in Paris opened in 1900.

Is using a VPN to get steam games from another region a good idea? - It can result in getting your account banned.

Damn, I live in Austria and I want to get the English original version of Wolfenstein: The New Order (German audio sucks).

If I go the VPN way, do I have to use an US VPN connection every time I want to start the game?

I know what you are saying but how can you get burned by buying a Season Pass that doesn't include everything? You get everything that was advertised in the Pass right? They didn't alter it and add new content in after you bought it no? I used to have a season ticket to my local football team and never did they include cup games as they were always extra.

Magika was a right pain as the "Compete Pack" as it was advertised was able to be bought and then a week later Paradox would add another item of DLC to it that previous owners didn't get retroactively added to their sub. Now that's getting burned.

Sure it might not be a practice some people agree with but no one is forcing a gun to your head and making you buy it at full price let alone at all. A lot of the complaints around DLC stem from people assuming it's either cut content or should have been uncluded with the base game but unless you're privy to how this was signed off and budgeted it's impossible to know. Sleeping Dogs is the best example as a lot of that stuff was decided by the community and developed after the game had shipped but didn't stop a wave of complaints.

Thanks for laughs.

Hahaha well it's all true. Got to stoke the fires somehow and 99 different editions sure does that.

I think that's the thing though, if you don't see any value in the extra stuff you don't have to buy it. It's not like it's a governmental tax or surcharge and you have no choice.

Of course I'm a sucker for superficial shinny things :p

I think the problem with season passes are, that often you dont know what you are getting and in a lot of cases the new mission/quest feels more like some side-dish and not like a full-course.

The SR4 one was really bad. I am glad I just paid 2,50€, but both of these missions were like 20 minutes long...

Olivier Deriviere´s soundtrack for AC4 freedom cry was finally released yesterday on iTunes. I´ve been waiting for it since last year, love those haitian chants.

Still waiting for a sale for a standalone Freedom Cry.
