Gemcraft came out yesterday and I remember liking the little I played of the web version years ago. Anyone have any impressions, especially in contrast to the web version?

Welp, finished the forgotten sands, pretty fun game and other than the bit clunky platforming and combat, the game was great, enjoyed most of the platforming sections and for combat I think it could do with less enemies, it kind of becomes dynasty warriors at the end since they give you a sword that one shot everything and just toss in even more enemies.

Overall the game isn't hard but still requires a bit of timing with some platforming sections, it's a step up from 2008, the last level was surprisingly good since I usually expect some garbage section with stupid gimmicks like some games like to do, but it was still mostly platforming and the end boss wasn't too bad, all of the bosses are pretty simple but not annoying. The locations are pretty varied even though it takes place mostly in the same city/castle or whatever.

With some tweaks I think ubi could make a decent sequel and something pretty fun, but that would make too much sense.

I was also surprised by its clunky controls, because I remember the sands of time controlled a lot better and much more fluid, but the last time I tried it I didn't play for long and it was over a decade ago, hope uplay or steam will put it up on sale soon enough so I could give that a try again.

Visually the game is a bit mixed, it didn't really age as well as PoP 2008, but some portion the game looks good, I think it's mostly to do with the fact that the character models and some assets look like something out of the ps2 or early 360 era.

You're thinking of gifts bought on Steam itself. You can easily use VPN to get around activation restrictions on keys, though.

Saudi Arabia isn't listed, so yes.

I really want The Curse of Monkey Island on Steam/GOG. I'm currently going through the special editions, but the lack of the third entry(which is supposed to be great) is saddening.

Aww, you missed the sale that GOG had a little while ago. The PoP trilogy + 2008 were in a package for cheap.

It's not VPN, it's Paypal; their paypal option won't charge from the credit card i choose. It'll charge the linked bank account, which I'm not using.

You're not given the choice between logging into your account and paying with your CC without logging in?

isn't prototype series a poor man's infamous?

As a fan of both series, naw. While both games are super hero simulators Infamous is more of a shooter, Cole, Delsin's and Fetch's powers involve a lot of projectiles mixed in with some melee attacks while Prototype's powers are all melee centric, involving different razor covered tentacles. Even though you can be a villain in Infamous, it's not the same as Prototypes anti-heroes who get to eviscerate small armies of people. In Infamous you parkour up buildings, in Prototype you run up them, or leap over them in a single bound (first area P2). In Infamous you can choose to help or harm civilains, in Prototype you consume them like The Thing to gain their appearance, to heal or just because you want to.

Prototype 2 captures the feeling of being superhuman towards the end of the game waaaaaay better than any Infamous, except maybe Festival of Blood. The distance you can fly towards the end of FoB is close to P2 but not quite the same scale or distance. At the end of Prototype 2 Heller is The Flash, Superman and a hentai tentacle nightmare all wrapped up in one angry package.

doh, yeah I'd definitely pick it up on GoG over uplay or the other drms

Most places tend to have the Tages versions, which is a drag. Steam sales are rare, but GOG ones happen more often. I believe turfster mentioned this last GOG sale, but no one reads his posts. ;)

Never saw that option given. Funnily enough ti seems the game is region locked and not available in my region, so I'll ask one of my friends in the UK if they can help me ge tit.

I give up on Jedi Outcast. I guess i'll just wait till Windows 10 or something to see if that changes anything. Nothing I do will make it boot anymore (reinstalls, driver upgrades/downgrades, user fixes). Just really strange that a community as big as PC gaming and Star Wars combined, no one has figured out a way to make the older games 100% accessible on modern PCs...except for Dark Forces and the fact that Jedi Academy seems to just run like normal.

I guess it was just a $5 collection, but still.

isn't prototype series a poor man's infamous?

inFamous is a third person shooter that has the presentation of a superhero/anti-hero comic book tale. An electrical blast rather than a shotgun for example, but mechanically it's the same.

Prototype, the spiritual successor to The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, is an open world beat-em-up and/or hack-and-slash game that with minor modification would be Spider-Man's Venom with some enjoyable transversal and platforming abilities (if one wants to take the challenges, or just run and jump around a city without touching the ground) that puts it as being it closer to being like that of Saints Row IV than anything else.

Two very different experiences and games whose only comparison really came because people wanted to have a friendly rivalry between two companies and fans picked that up. Neither is better than the either, just different tastes for what one wants, and I enjoyed both for different reasons on PS3.

I played through Prototype, but have yet to touch the second.

Mostly because Prototype is one of the most boring, repetive and ugly/muddy games Ive ever played.

Well said and I agree completely with this summary. As much as I enjoy Infamous, it doesn't come close to the Prototype 2 power trip sensation.

I found that Prototype 2 was far better than 1 gameplay wise. The only issue that I have with it is that they tried to go for a serious and sad story (well, that and that when I played it there were some issues on PC, a memory leak or something)
