It'd probably help if you cropped it so the photo just shows the S in IS of LIFE IS HARD. It took a lot of looking to find it, which means it most probably wasn't intentional. Neo Nazism isn't that strong, c'mon, zky. Just play your games. :steammocking:

well i didn't really want to draw attention to it since i wanted to see if ppl saw it too for themselves

it's not intentional but i saw it and wanted to feel less like a crazy person

I forgot xcom 2 came out this year. 2016 has been great on PC.

i kind of want to get back to it but i feel like the performance issues were never quite resolved and that just turns me off a whole lot

mostly the loading times

i wonder if that's the kind of thing u want a ssd for

So I went to restore one of my games (DX:HR) through steam, I selected it hit next and it started restoring it which took 20mins. After that in my steam library it just downloads it again from the Internet. I even tried copy and pasted the files into the correct directory but they don't show up in my library.

If I'm understanding you right, put the files in their proper (exact) directory within Steamapps, verify cache, and you should be golden. Verify cache will only add or correct files that are missing and set up everything in the registry.

Not sure how it works for DXHR vs. DXHR: Director's Cut, though. Might be something funky going on there.

the static speaks my name is a cool 10 minute (or 15 for slowpokes like myself) horror game thing

it was pretty successful at upsetting the fuck outta me and exposing you to fragments of the disturbing conclusion of a very disturbing story and letting you figure it out (it's not particularly subtle but you still have to piece it together)

i thought the tiny decision at the end is the most effective part of the game, i just feel dirty for making that choice

pretty cool game, it's free so why not

i really like doing short games marathons but i gotta be in the right mood for it. today i think it's gonna just be this one but maybe this is what i'm gonna do until overwatch's out

yea i should study about that

if i keep windows on my hdd but have my games on the ssd do it still get the faster loading times?

Why would you do that?
It's like keeping your engine in your car idle and just using pedal power to drive the car.

The loading times were OK for me on XCOM 2 on an HDD/tiny loading SSD thing, but the real killer was all of the framedrops. Grenade aiming, explosions, fire; it felt like everything hit the framerate first, before my squad. Just became a bummer.

Yet another game I need to back to sometime...
Ok, I tried a different game, Mirror's Edge. I copied ( copy and paste)it from my back up hdd, to my steam directory where my games are which is, D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common

When I go into steam the game is greyed out, I right click on it hit properties and select the local files tab and everything is greyed out on that too.

I also tried restoring Portal 2 through the restore feature on steam. Once it was done restoring it's saying installing and that's it. It was stuck on installing even after I restarted my PC. I tried verifying cache it done ' showed 100%. Then I tried to play it again and now it's downloading it from the start..

Huh. It seems really bizarre that Steam would ignore the proper files and just download them again. Maybe I'm misremembering the procedure... I know there's some way to do it by just copying the files over--I've done it myself occasionally, though it was a while ago.

Unfortunately I'm out of ideas, sorry duder.

When backing up games, you can just manually back up the installation folders in SteamApps\common and their corresponding manifest files, located in the root of the SteamApps folder (e.g. ME's would be appmanifest_17410.acf). This saves time later as the manifest file is essentially what tells Steam that a game is installed, so there's no need to worry about verification.

If you need to know a game's app id, you can either search for the game on SteamDB or enable the URL bar in the Steam client (Steam -> Settings -> Interface -> tick "Display Steam URL address bar when available") and click the store page link (e.g. ME's would take you to http://store.steampowered.com/app/17410/).

Those may be bundle leftovers, but that's a lot of pretty high quality stuff there.

Why would you do that?

Eh, not really. The OS on a SSD is great for startup times, and I'm sure it has some impact on performance, but if you are looking for improved game performance (especially regarding load times) having the game itself on the SSD is by far the priority.

cos my computer is not really in a state i can easily format it and start from scratch :T

There are cloning tools for migrating system install from HDD to SSD, some even work directly from Windows. Might want to try that first. OS HDD->SSD migration benefits simply cannot be overstated.

hmm yeah, that's not a bad idea

there's a 240gb kingston one for like 120usd, that's not so bad i guess

couldn't really fit too many games but honestly i keep too many games installed that i don't really play

all i need is win, photoshop, league, overwatch and one big game, maybe two if i'm lazy

If you need to know a game's app id, you can either search for the game on SteamDB or enable the URL bar in the Steam client (Steam -> Settings -> Interface -> tick "Display Steam URL address bar when available) and click the store page link (e.g. ME's would take you to http://store.steampowered.com/app/17410/).

All the games I've backuped have been through steams backup function.

I don't know why, but when I try to restore a game through the restore function, it will do it, once it's done it just says installing and nothing happens.

I've spent 5hrs trying, the only way I got the games to run was to download them again.

I'm trying Bioshock atm since it's a smallish game. I'm restoring it through steam ( not copy and past the files). You wouldn't believe what happened, right at the end of transferring it steam crashed ' steam client bootstrapper is not responding'

Went back to steam, it said ready to launch in a few seconds, then it started downloading it from the beginning.

I forgot xcom 2 came out this year. 2016 has been great on PC.

I haven't played it yet, I feel bad
But damn I've also finished at least +10 game in the last 4 month

Does Doom benefit from being on an SSD? Does it still have that funky idtech texture streaming technology?

What's your VGA? The pop in is barely noticeable , if you have a 980Ti or a Titan, lot of vram basically, you can unlock the Nightmare settings for the virtual something texturing that erase all type of pop in. Even with that at Ultra it's nearly perfect, i'm playing it right now

I'm running a 970. Not too hot on the VRAM front.

Anyone know what shrapening is in Doom's advanced video settings also did you guys turn off film grain?

It runs a heck of a lot better then it did on launch.

Check this comparison in The Witcher 3, I don't know how to explain this:

If you ask me, disable it or at least put the slider at 0.5, 1 as a maximum

I have this too, you can expect an average of 80FPS with hiccup into the 65FPS when a lot of shit come into your screen. In terms of pop in it's barely noticeable, we are century away from the IDTech5
