Japanese developer and new business model?
I think we all know by now. Unless a Nintendo game fall into one of the following it will most likely not sale well.
1) critically acclaimed, to Ocarina of Time level.
2) include Mario and/or Zelda characters. Any other Nintendo characters would be a big bonus.
3) some Japanese JRPG that come from a series that has just been resurrected and is carrying all the hype in the world.
Also I like how everybody forgot to mention Trails and 100% Orange Juice, granted it's 2013 year game, but it hit steam in 2014. Now you all are on my hit list!
And the Room
Seriously, the Room is as awesome as people say it is, Trails is GOTY and OJ, well it's one and only OJ.
That was a reaction to my statement of Secret of the Magic Crystals which involves horses. So palm something else.Lol thats funny. Face palmed at that pony korra tho ._.
Hmmm so let's have a show of hands.
- If Korra got a load of reviews out today and said it wasn't to their tastes how many of you would buy it anyway because of PlatinumGames' past titles?
- If it got polarizing reviews how many of you would wait for user impressions or buy it regardless?
- If it scored top marks across the board but it turned out to be not to your tastes how many of you would criticise the reviewers?
- How many of you are looking out for a reviewer you can trust their opinion on the kind of game Korra is and are they a professional reviewer or just an average chump like us?
Ugh facepalms for both pony korra and thstThat was a reaction to my statement of Secret of the Magic Crystals which involves horses. So palm something else.
I'd probably wait on user impressions. They haven't failed me before.
Edit: oh what am I saying, it's a korra game made by Platinum, that shit is mine.
I'm most likely going to buy it regardless not because of Platinum but because I'm a huge fan of the series. Even if the reviews are extremely bad.
you are digging to deep, it's a licensed cheap game, we all will buy it anyway. It's steam thread you are posting in, I feel urge to remind you!
I still would like to know EU price already
It wouldn't matter if it sucked ass or reviewed poorly. I'm a shameless Korra / Avatar shill, so I'll buy it anyways. Lol
Will buy, reviewers would probably complain about the story being lackluster or something but I don't care, it's a Platinum game, and it's a Platinum Korra game.
It was called Wonderful 101.
Nobody bought it.
I am getting it no matter what. Because Activision has a bad history on licensed games. I already missed Deadpool because I didn't buy it before it's removal in Steam Store
Yeah only 16,000 copies in Japan. Honestly though in Japan people prefer mobile/handheld and PC gaming more than consoles. So that might be partly reason why. I thought Xenoblade Chronicles got pretty great reviews so its not like the game was bad. (Never play it)Didn't Xenoblade bombed hard in Japan? I vaguely remember it not selling good enough to be localized in the west and we had to have huge worldwide campaign to get it and two other games, one of them is JRPG too, other more like AA game.
That's exactly what it is, but gamers have decided that Bayonetta is "empowering", and not embarassing and sexist, for no logical reason whatsoever. I'm not sure the rest of the world agrees and I would never be seen holding a copy of it.
Nobody representing, I bought it <3It was called Wonderful 101.
Nobody bought it.
Actually that's a bloody good point. At least with 007 Legends and Deadpool you could still grab retail copies that activated on Steam. No chance here being digital only.
Completely agree. Almost doubly amusing that I could bet any similar game but with a man, and all those crotch, ass and other "empowering shots", would be completely lambasted.
It's also only $15 so even if it somehow wasn't fun to play, it wouldn't be a huge loss. Plus, it's Korra. Everything Avatar / Korra warms the depths of my cynical soul, no matter how shitty. LolAnd that's fair enough so with what you guys have already decided you can kind of not worry about if it get's reviewed or not regardless. It's just the way most of are moving with our purchasing decisions for a while.
Hmmm so let's have a show of hands.

Speaking of Korra, I hope GMG will sell it. According to this tweet, they won't be selling COD: Advanced Warfare. I saved all my credit just for Korra
I wonder what's Activision's problem with GMG.
MGR got lambasted? GoW too? where? (><)
Yeah only 16,000 copies in Japan.
Korra being $15 is also a huge factor for going in blind. I wouldn't do the same thing with a $60 game.
Korra will have a a 68-71 metacritic
you heard it here first

Hey I bought it and it was one of the best games I played last year. It's just everybody else who missed out!

Where are the crotch shots that are so overwhemingly over the top though? Where is the camera that is constantly focused on tits, ass or crotch in the middle of conversation? Displaying sexuality is absolutely fine, but going overboard with it is a grey area and really depends on the context. When direction is overly purvy when there really is no need to be, I see it as such. The MGS series and Bayonetta do exemplify this shitty direction in my opinion. Even in the metal gear V trailer with quiet - why do I need to have the camera centred on Quiet's ass while she is fighting? I want to see her pumel the shit out of the other guy, not see her ass on that occassion. Same mid-way through conversations. Those screaming girls in MGS IV are another example of that. The direction is abysmal and made for a pre-pubesant child. My housemates were in complete agreement at the time regarding MGSIV
I've put in over 70 hours playing 100% orange juice multi, its fun -if you don't mind losing cause of rng-
They released two more characters as dlc btw, its $1.50.
Bayo is an overthetop game though.
But that's not the point. People can dislike what they want, I don't like many games too, I'm not fan of fanservice in general also. But I don't care for condescending tone this discussion has taken thanks to aku which is our local "gaming site fishing for hits with overstated opinions". That is all.

Frederic Resurrection of Music is good..
best game starring Frederic Chopin for sure (tho I haven't played the 2nd one yet)
Eternal Sonata sucks
Reportedly it's only a few hours long, though.
Hmmm so let's have a show of hands.

Borderlands 1 is still playable online, right?

New Stardew Valley gameplay footage. If only it had a release date. D:
Good thing the second best game of the year came out last week, so it had some room to breathe.
