Yo anyone know about a roguelike/resource game where you manage a town made of different families and sacrifice someone every month to th devil?

Austin talked about it on Waypoint a few episodes back but I can't for the life of me remember what it was.

Also, is this the first FPS game with great platforming?

No. First person platformers have been around for a long time. Look up trial maps in Unreal Tournament 2004 and climb maps in Counter Strike. And more recently there are whole games based on the concept. I suggest DeadCore, Speedrunners from Hell, and to some degree Lovely Planet. All excellent.

Don't know why but every time i see zky posts about XCOM this song starting to play in my head - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4JJerBhhQw Does XCOM2 have same god-tier soundtrack as the first one?
i think i remember it being pretty good also

i tend to turn off music in xcom and listen to a podcast or something tho

I bought it due to your endorsement and I also echo your sentiment, but what the heck is that ending. Was the developer intending to make more?
idk, i didn't find the ending bad, i think telling more about that story would fall under a more fantastic thing that it already is. coming from a country where intelligence groups would do the exact same thing (and worse) that's shown in that game, and having heard many stories from former capture/torture victims, there's no satisfying ending you can make up, it'd probably be disrespectful to what really happened and idk, i think the final line (i just watched it again) tells a lot about his character development, i liked it

It's time based for the most part. There are a few enemies whose appearance is tied to certain missions though.

There are a bunch of points in the game where you can stall for a really long time. IIRC as long as you can shoot down every UFO you see panic is pretty easy to manage.
hmm, i don't want to read a guide or anything, i just don't want to have one of those giant robots show up and oneshot my entire squad, i want a chill run :p

maybe not the ideal game for wanting to have a relaxing experience lol

I cannot succeed at the trial of fools. Bye, bye to these four achievements. I was so close to reaching the 47 mark.

I am going to read this Steam guide.
trial of fools is pretty tough

my strategy was getting the fast and long attacks thing, the more iframes on getting hit one, getting healing on getting hit and can't remember which else

the key for me was to memorize the bits where there are easy enemies you can leave alive while you heal. like the guys with the shield, when you see those you should try and leave one alive, go to the opposite corner, heal, repeat until you used up all ur mana and then kill it. don't heal on other bits, it's generally just trading and wastes ur mana

the hard part is the spikes part, and for that one the long nail is really useful, and i also used fireballs to oneshot the birds

the boss is pretty easy, with that build you can just rush it and trade until it's dead

it took me a bunch of tries tho, it's tough

Another work in progress, inspired by the latest Humble Bundle. But these numbers are from BEFORE the launch of that bundle.

A few notes:

- Sakura Clicker was removed because it's F2P.
- Sakura Space is under Sakura Shrine Girls.
- Sakura Agent and Sakura Magical Girls didn't have a Userscore yet. Both are slightly under 10k.

Damn, I haven't touched Dragon's Dogma in months.
It's really unlike me to just drop a game like that unless I'm not enjoying it, I usually play and finish them when I buy them.
That Nier/Trails/P5 combo made me forget all about it. I've finished Trails this week and should be done with P5 this month (5 months later...) but thanks to His Majesty's generosity I know have Divinity 2 to play so yeah, I'll have to try and play some DD on the side.

How did Sakura Spirit sell so much more than the rest? Was it bundled more or much cheaper than the rest?

It was also BTA in the The Humble Weekly Bundle: Valentine's Day 2.

Plus in the Indie Gala – Anime Angels bundle, along with Sakura Angels, Sakura Beach 1 + 2.

Bundled 3 times, went as low as 1,99€, first one to get on Steam.
The Sakura games are all cheap smut, I'm not surprised they sell as much as they do.

Speaking of Sakura Spirit, is this an enhanced Steam feature, or a real message from Valve?

Ah, I forgot about that one. One more that I just remembered is Hot Lava by Klei. It looks a bit slow for my tastes, but the production values are top notch for this sub-genre.

I think a lot of people give first person platforming a lot of shit as it's initially pretty unintuitive. You don't know immediately what's under you like in non-first person platformers and the way you control yourself is way different. In these games the mouse is the most important movement tool and it's so precise that it offers a ton of possible variability in how you navigate. Speedruns of these games are always a rush because of just how much character control is offered.

I have no qualms about the concept, really, but two things just bug me:

The timing of the ending just feels too abrupt. It's like if Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid ended when right they decided to still rob banks. Sure, everything that happens afterwards is superfluous to their character growth, but it really helps giving some moments to reflect that "this is their life; they're going to die doing this" instead of "wait, what". Nevertheless, I feel like the final scene would work for me just with a little timing editing, really.

2. The flashback feels like it's just in the intro. I mean, apparently Reza was a person who went down the rabbit hole of the revolution to topple the government, then, after that happened, turned to terrorize the new government instead. Here he hasn't even officially join the initial revolutionaries yet!

Heck, the game start with him recording a message for someone "remember when I said to you back when I joined the revolution". I was waiting for that scene, you know. We don't even know who he's talking to.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

This one is actually Valve. They have a "note" field that can be filled in by Valve admins, and is usually reserved for things that are causing a lot of customers to initiate support inquiries.

yeah, i don't remember that part from the beginning, but it's definitely not perfect

i just liked it as the story how he got to that point, not necessarily was looking to see what happened next as i thought the game's length was ideal

but yeah, it does feel like they were looking for a 1979 episode 2
