Steam Summer Camp 2011 - Immediate Regrets :(

I regret the AAaaAAAaaa/Wonderful End of the World 2-pack, so far, out of what I've bought and played.

AaaAAAAaa it turns out just isn't my kind of game, but at least it's a neat concept and well-executed.

Wonderful End of the World doesn't try to hide that it's a Katamari clone, which would be fine, but it's a poor copy, doesn't add anything, and is only challenging in spots where you're fighting bad game design. It just doesn't feel like a product that's ready to be sold.

I've got a ton of other random purchases to go through between now and the inevitable Christmas sale, so I'm sure there'll be more, but that one I was kind of excited to play and now regret paying dollars for.

THIS. I love the look of the game, but I'm not into these "build it yourself" sandboxes. I want to play the cool stuff that other people make. Oh well, it was only $2.50

I also regret missing out on the Serious Sam HD Gold daily sale. Guess I'll wait for Christmas.

I regret buying CS:S. Played like 5 hours and was owned repeateadly. I cannot for the life of me play this game without friends.

Monday Night Combat. It was a pure last minute impulse buy but I am terrible at online shooters. I know technically it's not just a shooter but still, it has a dedicated community of players who know all the maps and techniques and such.

Only thing I regret is Eschalon II, because it doesn't run on my notebook, the lowest resolution it runs on is too high to display correctly on the screen, so a third of the game is cut off.

There's bot play if you want to have a less stressful experience when not with friends.

STEAM better regret not putting BLUR and the Section 8 games on a daily deal...

Why, isn't Blur nothing but hacks on PC?

Also I throw my hat into the "you hate it? I'll take it off your hands for free," ring. >_>

I bought the Fallout collection (Fallout 1,2,tactics) and started playing the first one. After a really nice intro sequence, I'm finding the mechanics to be a bit frustrating, and the constant visual scattering due to incompatibilities with my modern OS to be intolerable.

I'll persist with it a bit longer, but its not making a good impression so far unfortunately.

Unlike Oblivion with Guns 3 and Oblivion with Guns 3: New Vegas, Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics require playing them as a pen-and-paper RPG. EG: YOU WILL FAIL, A LOT if you play it as a "well, I have a gun. PEW PEW despite my stats being crap!" Same for intelligence. You have 1 INT? Enjoy having to play "smart" to get many quests and even complete shit because your character is near useless.

This reminds me how much I hate how Beth ruined the series because 1 INT DOES NOTHING, hell SPECIAL in general DOES NOTHING in OwG3. >:| It really is Oblivion with Guns.

I've only played it for about an hour, but I'm a bit disappointed in Darksiders. Everyone keeps saying it's Zelda with demons, but there's nothing Zelda-y about it, it's like a boring God of War. I guess I should keep at it though since everyone seems to love it...

Out of curiosity, what's your resolution? 1024x600?

I regret getting Assassin's Creed 2. I never really had any interest in the game, but got caught up in the excitement. I passed on Witcher 2, for now, I know that would be a regret, especially with gaming budget going towards NCAA Football 12 next week.

Alternatively, Torchlight has been GREAT. I am ashamed that I just now got on the bandwagon.

DCX
Eternity's Child..runs like shit, can't properly configure the display, or the controller...good thing it didn't cost much.

Yeah you've not really got in to the meat of the game yet. It's Zelda through and through, you just need to play some more. Great game.

The beginning does suck, when you get to the first dungeon, 2 hours in, though it'll start being good.

Don't know how much I can really regret buying something for $1.50 but Lead & Gold. The controls felt off, the community is pretty much dead and honestly I don't know if I really needed another multiplayer focused game.

TLR is amazing on PC. Maybe your computer sucks or you're one of those people that sees screen tearing like others see Bigfoot.

Paradox Fantasy Pack.

I bought it for Majesty Gold/Majesty 2 Complete - I'm not a huge RTS fan, so I was pretty apprehensive.. even so, some games manage to deviate enough from the formula for me to enjoy them. mostly the Dawn of War series, I guess.

the first sign I was in for a good time was MSE finding "Win32/PowerRegScheduler" in an .EXE that came with Majesty Gold. decided to skip that one and go straight for M2 Complete and I dunno, a couple of hours in and I'm not really feeling it. feels like it has as much micromanagement as any other RTS.

there are better ways to spend 8 dollars than this pack for sure. I'll probably try it a little bit more before uninstalling it, just to get my money's worth. :(

on the bright side, I got Jamestown for $5 and it's awesome but I can't beat
The Prince of Mars
. reminds me of a slightly more modern Mars Matrix.

No, there's definitely screen tearing, and it doesn't help that V-Sync has to be forced on through other means. SE tried to address that by putting in FPS limiting options, but that isn't the same as actual V-Sync.

Personally I had it crash on me when forcing V-Sync, and anyways the other improvements (FPS) more than made up for that issue anyway.

Yep, I was thinking the same thing originally. The beginning is very much like God of War-like, but eventually it transitions into Zelda-like gameplay. Hell, I didn't even notice the transition, until at one point I realized I was finding keys, opening doors, and solving puzzles.

Ouch, yeah, that's a pretty rancid game. At least you didn't spend full price like I did!

So far I regret Magicka. I don't like how it feels with a controller. I haven't played much but the humor is already starting to wear thin.

Strange, why is that? It can almost certainly be fixed.

No idea :/ I have 25GB free, only going for a 10GB partition for windows xp, but it keeps telling me I don't have 10GB of free space. Hooray! :/

You might have unmovable files meaning there's no block of 10GB free, you could probably copy the drive using the disk utility and they'd be moveable. It's quite a bit of effort though.

Yeah, that'd probably be a bit of an effort :p Maybe when I pick up Lion, it'll move around some files :) Here's hoping...

I purchased Alpha Protocol for $4.99 and completely regret it.

Everything that the game does well it counters by doing something completely stupid. It's a mess.

Right now it's Hot Pursuit.

Game won't even launch. When I click to play it through my Library goes to a black screen then says the application has stopped working. I've uninstalled and re-downloaded. Same thing.

What if someone put it down as a regret they got it in that Indie Story Pack rather than alone?

Actually, given I barely touched the other games in that pack it's the same as having bought Recettear alone for $5, the most progress I made in the others was a few puzzles into Puzzle Agent.

I fucking screwed up buying Rome: Total War Gold Edition. Not that the game is bad by any means but the Rome: Total War Complete Pack, which includes the Gold Edition plus the third expansion pack, was also available for the same price. FUUUCK.

I regret picking up Deus Ex Invisible War; I never got around finishing first one, so no idea why I bought the sequel.

Also for those who purchased Eternity's Child; I know the feeling. I wish I could remove it from my steam library, maybe we should send support tickets to steam support for them to remove it entirely from Steam.

Bought so far:
Test Drive Unlimited 2
Bit Trip Beat
Just Cause 2 DLC
Risen
Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
Command and Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath
Dawn of War 2: Retribution
Neverwinter Nights 2 Platinum
Dead Space 2 (Gifted to me)

Regrets
Bit Trip Beat - I played this for a while to get the achievement, but it just didn't click with me. Made my eyes hurt quite a bit which is probably why I didn't like it much.

Not a regret, but DoW II Retribution was £7.50 here as opposed to $7.50 US. Bit of an unfair price, but since it won't get any cheaper than that here for a long time, I picked it up.

I regret getting SC: Double Agent. It was the only one I hadn't played yet on the PC, and I figured I may as well fill in the blanks. Turns out, it is one of the shoddiest PC ports ever and looks worse than the 360 version.

Medal of Honor.

I'm not the biggest modern fps fan but thought I'd still give it a try. Played through the first single player mission then uninstalled. I just wasn't that fun.

That was a price mistake. It was fixed pretty quickly..

Oblivion.

I was skeptical of it from the start, but I thought I'd like once I modded it enough. I was wrong. I even shelled out the extra cash for the deluxe version. :(

I kinda regret buying Terraria because I bought it 7,5€ a few days ago and now it's 5€. But it's not too bad I guess.

I'm more pissed by my unability to play TF2 games anymore, I don't know why, but since a few weeks, I can't join any server. The loading screen keeps locked "sending data to the server", and it lasts forever :(

1...2...3...Kick It! I wish they didn't put an alpha build up for sale on steam. Should have looked at it more closely to see that it's still a work in progress. And who knows when that will be done.

A.R.E.S. I am not really feeling. Probably take me a little bit longer to get into it.
