Steam Summer Sale 2016 |OT| It's better than nothing

There's great sales on those games I'm interested in. Gonna get Doom, the Mafia II DLC, Snow DLC for Cities Skylines, NBA 2K16 probably.

One would imagine Valve preparing more into their infrastructure for the beginning of sales.
One would be mistaken sale after sale.

Hoping for price mistakes.

It's very expensive/hard to scale for that first 30 min when you have 100 million people hitting the store. Even using Azure/AWS/Google clouds, it's still very tough. Everything from the front end web servers to your DBs to caching to Identity gets hammered. It will even out in 20-30 min.

Sales time is a happy time. I doubt there will be a lot of games i'll actually want to buy, but I alway's love scrolling through the deals and reading through threads like these.
There's alway's a lot of enthusiasm and DuskGolem's recommendation's where a delight to read during the last couple of sale's, as where those of many others.
I'll probably write something myself, but later.

Good times.

This made me smile. :)

Can't tell if people complaining about wishlists and the deals are just doing it as a fun meme, or if after almost 10 years of sales they still think everything should be updated and refreshed instantly.

Without dailies games aren't going to go in to impulse buy territory. I'm only going to get games I already know I'm interested in. Dailies gave games a certain exposure. Like I'd look at every game that goes in a daily and decide I it was worth an impulse buy. Without that O don't see myself going for the impulse buy on a similar level. That's probably a good thing considering how many games I buy that never get played...

For my JRPG fix, should I go with Grandia 2 or Trails in the Sky? Only feel like getting one of them, since I have $12 in my Steam Wallet right now

The deals are being added at a staggered rate, it seems, I keep getting new stuff when I refresh my wishlist. A few of highlights include Half-Life 2 at 80% off (never played it!), Crypt of the Necrodancer 75%, Curses N Chaos 60%, Homeworld Collection 50%.

Solid wish lists fam.

Half Life 2 EP2 is still at the top of the genre.

You gotta be fucking kidding me...

Yeah, most of my wishlist isn't on sale at all either. It may just be the store not working right at the moment. I'll check back later tonight, but man as it looks now absolutely nothing I was looking to get is on sale at all.... O_o

More traffic, plus they have to update the prices on a ton of games. Why pay for more bandwidth for a brief period of time? An hour or two and Steam will be accessible again.

Must resist looking, I've spent about £150 in the last year on steam games and not played any of them as I never play games on my PC

The deals that are already up seem kinda lame so far.

oh well, i'll probably buy oxenfree and dark souls 2: sotfs anyway. hopefully the bundle deals that were posted in the monthly thread update again and get an even higher discount.

Thread's moving so fast but does anyone know if we can expect Dragon's Dogma to have a bigger discount?

Not likely in the new structure that Steam sales are using.

Dailies are gone. Ubisoft is the only publisher who will randomly decide to drop things.

Stellaris 10 percent discount is hilarious considering I paid less for it preordering on GMG....

Paradox pls

Same updating shit as usual - a few minutes ago a whole bunch of games had one sale price, now all the sale prices for those have been removed. I'd wait for it to settle down
