Welp, I think I'm going to start an epic a-game-a-month campaign to try to actually finish some games in my backlog:

July - Alan Wake (I'm about 60% done)
August - Rayman Origins (about 60% done, game of the sale for me) & L.A. Noire (Pretty sure I'm near the end)
September - Deus Ex: Human Revolution (About 50%)
October - Alan Wake: American Nightmare
November - Splinter Cell: Conviction
December - Sonic Generations (About 25% maybe)

All throughout: TES V: Skyrim

Short burst games (I figure I can play these while I play the others, then pull something else from the backlog if I finish any):

  • Waves
  • PixelJunk Eden
  • Splice

Still in my backlog (Small sample of games I actually care about finishing):

  • Shank
  • Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery (I'm about 40% done according to the game)
  • Just Cause 2 (I've put around 12 games into this game and I have yet to finish it. I think I'm not even 20% done. Damn.)
  • Gemini Rue
  • Blocks that Matter
  • Borderlands (27 hours in; I swear I'm like 2 missions away, but those sidequests!)

Winter Sale Wishlist:

  • Torchlight 2
  • Binary Domain
  • Dustforce

It was my first steam sale and I bought about thirty titles mainly under £3 each. I think I will have enought o last me until the next sale. I managed to grab pretty much everything I wanted and will be commencing my first PC playthrough of Halflife and Halflife 2 tonight.

Please add me on steam as I haven't got many steam buddies yet. My steam id is the same as my profile id.

Is it worth getting any of the CODs or battlefields on pc? I have played them all on xbox but not sure if they are worth double dipping on.

Thanks

Final haul:

Binding of Isaac DLC £0.49
Frozen Synapse DLC £1.39
The Walking Dead £12.59
Dear Esther + OST £2.49
ARMA II Combined Forces £14.99

ARMA was a gift to my brother for his birthday

Total: £31.95

Fairly reasonable sale for me, learned my lesson years ago not to go too mental with these sales.

Most likely this thread will be left open so people can post their damage list instead of posting it in the main Steam OT

Somebody threw around the idea of making a post-sale thread to tally how much SteamGAF spent during the sale, although I don't think anybody elected to create it.

For me the only complains about this sale, was the price of the Arma 2 Pack (just 40%). And i missed Gemini Rue Sale :( So sad about it. And the lack of Capcom games at the sale + Alpha Protocol.....

Total damage:

Also, if you like to see your games in Grid View on Steam (the best way to see your games) then you should check out the Custom Steam icons for Grid View thread here on GAF. It used to only be a part of the beta release of the Steam client but I'm pretty sure it's now part of the full release.

I figured it made sense to have a "rate your summer haul thread".

Post what you got, next poster rates, comments, and posts their own. Would give a little context and have some fun.

This sale was really helpful in not only allowing me to pick-up some gems but also cutting down my wishlist by making me realise which games I didn't really want when they went on sale.

My final tally:

Psychonauts - 1.49
The Longest Journey - 1.49

Probably not. :p

I do, and I'm amazed at the amount of games some of you guys bought. And I feel bad that a good amount of them I already owned previous to the sale =/ for example I see everyone bought Just Cause 2 but I've had it for like a year now, if not more...

One last purchase for me, I think:

SR3 Collection or Walking Dead?

Help GAF.

I think that depends entirely on what sort of game you're looking for.

SR3 is all about bombast, spectacle, and having fun in an open world.

The Walking Dead is all about getting caught up in a people story and making tough choices.

You'll probably get more time out of SR3 but you won't find much of a story there.

So are you in the mood for a drama or an action flick?

It's been a pleasure with you guys in the Summer Sale threads. Looking forward to next year! Or is there a Winter Sale on Steam as well?

A Winter/Christmas sale is guaranteed, and there may also be lesser Halloween and Autumn sales.

Next Stop, Winter Sale!

Also, remember there are mid-week and weekend sales on Steam year round. Also Daily Deals. Also publisher deals... also random other stuff sprinkled about.
