Steam Summer Sales 2012 Thread: we still like you Tony

Steam Dead Space 2 registers on Origin. Play it there unless you want everything unlocked from the beginning essentially ruining the game.

You can also download the v1.0 exe and play on Steam. The only difference is the content unlocked. It will run fine and steam will not try to update either. After your first run force update.

Mistake!

Time to install Killing Floor!

HA! It's already installed! I played Sands of Time on Xbox back in the day never beat it though. Since I'm still waiting more things to go on sale I can wait to pick up the rest if I ever get around to it and its only .26 cents more buying them individually since they'll be 75% off again.

Spent more than I wanted so far.

Two Worlds II
New Vegas
Warlock
Batman AC
Portal 2

So probably 150 hours or so of gameplay :(

I don't know why I did it lol. I'll never have time to play.

Still wishing for Amular, Confrontation and endless space. Dunno if they'll happem.

Why in the world does fallout 3 goty say not optimised for windows 7??? Can anyone tell me how it runs there, I am considering going for it perhaps.

What's the DRM like on the Steam versions of Dead Space 1 and 2? I didn't buy the Batman Franchise collection because I heard terrible stories about the DRM. I know they're from different Publishers, but this is still EA...

Also is there someone who might be able to help me purchase the Dead Space pack from the USA store please? It's $23+ on AUS Steam...

More than a year after I bought it, I'm still unable to play Arkham Asylum.

Warner bros support sent me two useless replies after asking me for a system log. Steam support sent me to WB support.

It is still cheaper to buy NV: Ultimate edition than the DLC for vanilla Vegas :sigh:

So if I own the original New Vegas, Can I buy the ultimate edition? Because the store says I already own the game :/
You can!

I did the same thing a few hours ago. It'll will say that you're downloading NV again (9GB) but the download will stop after around 3GB. You then just fire up NV like you've always done before and continue where you left off. Then you'll get in-game notifications that there are new quests available. Easy peasy.

Ok, so you can just wait until you get the schematics before buying those, and then it'll basically be like playing it without that DLC?

No, there are alot of things that are instantly there and you don't find the schematics for. There are also things that are actual dead space elements (for instance, the security suit, which is the second suit, I don't think it's in the store unless you have the schematic) that don't show up unless you have the schematic.

Basically:

  • Non-DLC items are usually only available through schematics (with exceptions, ie. some ammo, small medkits) and are more than 0 credits
  • DLC items are available always and are 0 credits

I bought a four pack of Borderlands GOTY and sent it to three friends. None of us can play, we're all getting the C++ runtime error. I spent all day yesterday trying different things from google / gearbox forums / steam forums and nothing worked. Finally last night I removed all the C++ distributibles (again) and removed physx (again) uninstalled my anti-virus software and reinstalled the game. After that I ran the VC_REDIST files and the directx and physx files from the prerequisites folder in the borderlands directory. I haven't had a chance to try it today, but if it errors out again I'm going to flip out and lose my mind.

Sorry, I have a Fallout 3 question as well.

On the list of supported video cards, it does not say that the NVIDIA 400 series is supported. I have a 460...I would assume that it should work, but it's bothersome that it's not listed. Can anyone confirm whether or not it will run?

It runs perfectly fine on my GTX560ti. The very same architecture and even chip with just some more shader clusters unlocked.

Nowadays it's all about drivers. If it run on a GT 6600, it will run on your card.

About Fallout 3 and Windows 7. In the first betas of Windows 7 it was unplayable, but that was corrected in the release version. Maybe you can suffer some freezes, but you can fix that easily turning off threads over 2 by editing .ini. FO3 doesn't support PAE (game can't use more than 2GBs of RAM, even when you have more than 4 and game is RAM starving because mods or high res textures packs), and have problems using CPU's with more than 2 threads. That's all.

Man PC gamer's on a role, first they site SalsaShark with that Medal of Honor banner, then they diss EA bad with the first sentence on the Origin sale announcement, nice.

Finally Fallout 3 GOTY reached the $5.00 sweetspot, I just had to buy it.

Just worried a little bit about that notice that states that it is not optimized for Windows 7, whatever that might be

Dunno, works fine here. Win 7 x64

The usual amount of crashes etc that comes with using lots of mods until you work out which mod is breaking stuff.

I didn't like what I played of New Vegas, is there any chance in hell I'll inexplicably love Fallout 3?

To be honest I really liked Fallout 3 but I didn't like Vegas because the setting. I know it's strange but the casino/gaming/Vegas is not my thing so I enjoyed Fallout 3 more. Story felt better to me too in F3 than in NV.

Just my opinion fellow GAFfer. There's a chance you might like it, but combat wise they are a little different.

Apparently Ukrainian people pay alot less as well, just like Russia... What's the situation with paypal, and is anybody from Ukraine? :p

Re: Fallout NV

I'm not sure why but it didn't click with me. I didn't get very far but I found movement very slow and combat unsatisfying. Had no idea what was worth picking up and what to leave.

Loved Borderlands, Far Cry 2 and Skyrim though...

Is anyone else not having the store load at all within a browser or the steam client? Not my screenshot but it's what my community page looks like right now

It's been like this since last night and it sucks, I have to use the mobile storefront to look at any deals.

I'm soooo close to buy FO3 and NV. But now that I have Skyrim again and will probably put another 100+ hours in it, I might have enough of Gamebyro games this year.

I think I'll just get FO3, because there's no way it gets cheaper than that.

I really dislike that they nerfed the Wizard in Trine 2.

I don't want to play this game co-op. And I'm not going to. Just like I didn't play Trine 1 in co-op. So the fact I keep coming to switches (that close 2 seconds after you release them) annoys me. With Trine 1 I could have easily solved these puzzles anyway I wanted. Even if they'd allowed switches to stay activated if only played with 1 player would have been okay. But it just feels like it wants you to play 2 players and if you don't, you're going to have to stare at the screen until you finally spot the thing I'm overlooking. Disappointed in this. It's no longer a physics heavy game because the Wizard allowed you to constantly create solutions of your own making.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.

Those elements aren't drastically different in Fallout 3.

However, you should give New Vegas another shot, especially if you like Skyrim. Sometimes you have to be in the right mindset to start a game.

New Vegas is cheaper (or is it the same price?) and newer?

Or did you mean the ultimate version? If so, it'll be a while before it goes cheaper.
