Back in Quake 3 I mapped what should have been 'W' (move forward) to the right mouse button, still play that one game that way to this day. M&K didnt exactly come to me that quick, but once you have it for fps, theres no going back.
I guess i'm not the only one that did that then? I used to do it Unreal Tournament 1999 and PC Halo...

I can't even fathom playing it that way now...

Crazy, I know a friend who does that (or did do that back in his CS days).

WASD might not be the best but a good KB/M scheme is always good to know. Some people prefer EDSF for more keys to the left or whatever (though I think multibutton mice might've killed that), and you certainly have way more options to remap that what gamepads usually offer. It'll take a while but you'll get the hang of it.

Hell, I don't have a 360, and I bought a 360 pad a few months ago and it feels great, but I still default to KB/M for shooters because I've always valued the targetting finesse of a mouse.

In sequence three of Assbro, pretty cool so far. They pulled a Metroid on us so I lost all my cool stuff, but I bought Altair's armor with U-Play points so I still look cool. Seems like they took the villa building from the second game and applied it to the entire city, not sure if I will like that since I have to pay money to open up every shop now instead of just finding them. Combat is a bit more fluid now and I love how you can chain insta-kills, that makes combat so much easier and satisfying. But guards seem to attack more aggressively so it's not a walk in the park all the time.

Speaking of Transformers, it sold like hotcakes or something, cause I bought it maybe 2 hours after the sale, just finished downloading and it seems they ran out of keys or something? Getting a "Failed to contact key server" error trying to launch. Guess they didn't see that coming.

Yeah, in the next FPS I played I used the normal WASD and Ive used it in every game since. But whenever I play Q3......lol I dont even know what in the heck made me change the default key mapping. Strange though that I'm not the only one.

Is it worth the price? Because I'm playing a bit of Tower Defense in Starcraft 2 and I'm not sure if it's worth buying an extra game that does exactly that.

Yup, it's pretty great and they even added Steam Cloud support recently. Gameplay wise it isn't really revolutionary except for the health-system it's just got really high production values and a well-balanced difficulty curve.

Oh shit, really? I literally can't use M/KB, this is the first gaming I have ever done on the 'PC', I much prefer the 360 controller...

Try this out. It allows you to emulate a mouse with a joypad.

It cost a little money but it's very well supported with profiles for most games.

So, you would use the right mouse button to move forward, but A,S,D normally?

Hey, if it worked for you, then more power to you! I'm gonna try it with BF tomorrow, see what it feels like.

what does people think about Beat Hazard? get it now or wait for a possible daily deal?
The latest update really improved the game a lot. It's not very expensive now, but I guess you could wait for a daily deal and grab the expansion pack as well.

Sorry to ask this again, but can I get Dragon Age to play like the console version? I'm not a PC gamer and I heard that console versions were simpler.

Does AC Brotherhood perform better on PC? Does it have that stupid Ubisoft DRM? I have AC 1 & 2 on the Xbox 360 (didn't play 2 yet) and I think I'm doing the same for consistency.

If you mean controller support then no (i assume there is a mod). If you mean the over the shoulder view then yes.

The UbiDRM has being sigificatly nerfed on PC. It only needs a connection at start-up, you don't need a pernament connection anymore.

The PC versions of Dragon Age and AC1, 2 and Brotherhood are the definative versions.

Holy shit. Iron Grip: Warlord is awesome and i haven't even tried multiplayer yet.

Best part of these activities is that it's making me try out all the Indie games that were part of the cheap packs i bought during the Christmas sale.

Absolutely, I've actually played a bunch of games I never tried or some I stopped playing. A whole lot more than the earlier Steam sales.

I'm having tons of fun.

Which Dragon Age? Origins was made for five years with keyboard and mouse in mind, with a quick port over to the gamepad, and it shows. I would say if anything Origins would be "simpler" with a keyboard and mouse. The console controls for Dragon Age 2 are supposed to be a lot better. Neither PC versions have native gamepad support.

ok.wth.Bioshock2 runs just fine on my machine, but the first Bioshock won't even start. Says there's a problem with the exe or something. I verified the integrity, but it still won't run. Is this a known problem with the first Bioshock?

I drunkenly bought that game about a year ago and have yet to install it. Is it really that good?

Well, I've only tried out the single player skirmish but I had a lot of fun. A good blend of RTS and FPS.

Yes.

I love seeing a good game that got completely overlooked get a second life from Steam sales and Indie Packs plus these activities for the contest.

somebody convince me on tropico, i'm trying to save money but it looks like a cool premise

It's a city builder/economy manager with a Cuban theme. Super fun if you like those types of games.

I really enjoyed playing through the campaign for both vanilla game and the expansion.

There is a sandbox mode and user-made challenge maps are available but I've only dabbled in those slightly. I preferred playing campaign.

The Tropico 3 flaw mentioned is just that road placement can be a bit tricky at times, but usually it's fine.

Went ahead and snagged Defense Grid due to the positive posts I saw.. can't beat $2.49.

Fun game but the building mechanism is a little flawed.. it makes it much, much more difficult than it needs to be. At $5 for the pack with the Absolute Power expansion, you absolutely can't go wrong though. I had a lot of fun with it.

By start-up you mean every time I start the game?

Origins (I heard 2 wasn't as good?).
Does it have these dozens of icons I have to press to play? Or will I be able to map keyboard buttons to the gamepad and that's it?

There's not much of a game there, really, but it's spectacular visually. It's like an awesome interactive music visualizer with some decent included music (you can add any of your own, too).

It doesn't start out that way, but yes it ends up that way. It's just an abilities bar, and it feeds you to them slowly, so you will have plenty of time to get a feel for each one. You can customise the ability bar too, so you can group like abilties together and such. Also it's pause and play, so you don't have to worry about remembering abilties in the heat of battle. If you ever needed to figure something out, just pause. It's a fairly simple game.

Hmm, it does look interesting but I just tried out the Iron Grip demo and I'm pretty impressed.

Will it go cheaper than this or is this a daily?
