Defense Grid... hooooly shit. Enjoying the hell out of this. Thanks for the recommendation GAF. I just played the Kill Zone level from one of the map packs and had absolute blast. If anyone is on the fence about the game, get it. Only a few hours left!

The store is down for me as well. Poor valve.
Edit: Well the store seems to work, but other parts of steam are being wonky right now.

Yup. I didn't think Defence Grid could be as good as people said it was (I mean, it's just a tower defence game right?) but man, it's damn good. Easily the best tower defence game I've ever played.

Ok, so it isn't my School once again blocking steam from connecting.

Well, I guess if you are going to loose connection, 5:30 AM EST is a decent hour to do so.

So Steam is being the biggest piece of shit ever tonight. It logs in fine, and I can browse the store and look at my library/friends list, but if I click 'recommended for you' for example, it takes me to the account login screen. Upon entering my details, it simply flashes red and displays a 'prove your humanity by re-entering the characters below' or something similar error.

Opening and closing Steam results in it asking me to login in again - despite having ticked 'remember my details'.

And obviously, I can't view my wishlist or cart or anything like that either. ANyone got some tips on what to do?

Grrrr...

Steam appears back. However, it didn't see my Barbeque achievement. Fortunately I saved at a spot where I can pickup the beer crates and finish the mission. I hope the achievement/ticket didn't glitch.

Anyone know if something like Gratuitous Space Battles which is already 75% off is likely to go on sale for any less? Or AI Wars which is 50%?

First Steam sale I've really paid attention to.

If it's 75% off, there's a really small chance it might go up to 80% or 90% off. But it's incredibly small, since at that point there's barely any extra savings. Might as well buy it now. Chances of a 50% off game getting a further discount is slightly bigger, though. I'd say wait until the very end of the sale for that one.

I've never heard of a case of a game that was already 75% off getting even cheaper during the same sale (i.e. becoming a daily deal). There's always a first though, so who knows.

Nobody knows, which is why everyone suggests waiting until the end just in case.

I used that logic at first for Flight Control HD. But then I realised that it was 75p *now*. I'm not going to quibble over a few pence!

AC2 and Brotherhood only needs an internet connection at startup, after that you can turn off your internet if you want. AC1 doesn't have any of the UbiDRM.

Heres some of my screenshots (resized from 1920x1080). It's awesome at 60fps compared to the sub-30fps console versions.

Buying the 11 dollar copy of Civ V off gamersgate and activating on Steam was exactly what I love about Steamworks. Following all that, playing it has been a fucking treat and delight. Never got into the series but this one made me a believer.

Can anyone list all the summer achievements that are particularly simples to do (apart from the obvious non gaming ones, such as join the steam summer group)

To give you a clue of the pathetic gamer you're dealing with here, I managed to get the Swords and Soldiers HD achievement, but struggled and failed at both the bit.trip beat and lead and Gold achievements. Any easy ones out there?

Bit Trip Beat is damn easy after they updated it.
Magicka is REALLY easy.
The DOW II Retribution one (Just play Last Stand with Mekboy and flamer equipped) as well.

I dont have DoW2: Retribution due too being priced gouged on Aussie Steam, but can I redeem the prize for when i get the game in the future?
