Alpha Protocol is a get for me! Great price and they talk wonders here about the game.

But what about Mount and Blade?
Warband, being released before fire and blade is more expensive. Why? I warband much better?
And about Mount and Blade, I know GAF started playing that game and loved it, its that good? Only multiplayer? If theres single how good is that?

Thanks in advance

The gaf collective claims that Warband is a better overall game but that Fire and Sword or whatever is still great multiplayer. With guns.

Still not sure about the Doom pack, but definitely picking up Trine.
I'm still wondering if Mount & Blade is worth it if I only get With Fire and Sword...

Is the Doom 3 expansion pack worth getting? If I spring for that along with Doom 3, I may as well get the whole Doom pack......

TRINE GET!

Someone talk me out of getting Fallout: New Vegas cause I'm so damn close to clicking the add to cart button.

On the off chance that anybody here doesn't already have the original Portal, I apparently have an extra copy. First person to PM me with their SteamID gets it.

EDIT: Redeemed.

The expansion has the double barrel shotgun so yes, you should get it.

It's Fallout by Obsidian, get it.

I have the original fallouts but haven't played them.

Hmm..maybe I will get this.

I just bought Doom 3 and the expansion since the expansion was a buck more.

As for the Doom pack, ask yourself if you are REALLY going to ever play Doom 1 & 2 again. I personally have played them on at least four different platforms and I know I really will probably never play them again.

Also, if I DID want to play them, they are completely free to download because they are open source.

In short, buy Doom 3+expansion. Skip the complete Doom pack. The other games are all free shareware if you ever decide you want to play them again.

Save the $2 for a cool indie game like Trine (which is fantastic, btw).

Homefront at that price seems a joke to me. I might have tried at 10, 15 tops.

Trying to stay strong and wait for the inevitable GOTY version of NV.

First day so far where I either own everything already, don't want it, or it's still too expensive. I was briefly tempted by Fallout: New Vegas, but I will wait for similar pricing on the inevitable GOTY edition, just like FO3.

BTW, both Bionic Commando games are a lot of fun. BC 2009 is one of my favorite games.

Try again during the winter sale. It was never going to be more than 50%, it's a brand new game...even if it was a dud.

Warband is a full blown expansion to M&B, full of new features, new animations etc. With Fire and Sword is a mod for the original M&B that was (unreasonably) converted into a stand alone product.

To put it this way: There are far more superior mods for Warband than With Fire & Sword itself.

Get Warband.

actually, it sold really well, but reviews were a mixed bag. console versions are still above $50

It's short and pretty forgettable. The double shotgun does have the traditional power to it, which I appreciated. The last boss is
Cyberdemon
which I thought was kind of cool. If you liked Doom 3, it's probably worth playing through the x-pac, but you're not missing anything significant if you skipped it.

Getting Alpha Protocol. Anyone wanna weigh in on Bully? I never did play it on consoles.. heard mixed things. Super cheap though so probably will bite but would love some impressions.

The only Fire and Sword advantage I've heard, I already listed. Which makes putting "Sword" in the title instead of "Guns!" kind of stupid, doesn't it?

edit: Ah, I see bones has you covered.

Wait a year and get the GOTY for half the price of the sale price!

Haha, success. Another day without anything I want to buy. Would have bit on Bionic Commando were it £5 or less, but nope!

That said, tempted by Doom II. £1.49 seems a touch too much for it now though considering its age.

Regarding Eschalon. Is it worth it just getting Book II or should I get Book 1 as well if I buy them?

I bought both- Book II seems to be generally regarded as the superior game, but Book I is good also and I'm enjoying it so far, a couple of hours in. There's a demo available if you want to give it a try, as well as one for Book II.

BTW, if anyone has a problem with the launcher for Book II, try turning off D3D Overrider. It doesn't seem to like anything that enforces VSync.

Alpha Protocol is mine, but now I'm debating between Serious Sam, Singularity, and Frozen Synapse. Help me decide! I'm an FPS fan, but have been a little burned out lately. I already picked up Bioshock 2 this sale. I might be more interested in Frozen Synapse, though I'm not quite sure what the game is like. I wish there was a demo, as I typically don't play strategy games.

Excellent game, one of the very finest of its type. Great mission design, gorgeous world, and one thing that's really great is that the scale is a little smaller than most open world games so you really get to intimately know the world and how it flows together. Very memorable world design. Lots of content, and the collectathon stuff that you expect from a GTA is there but a little more minimal. And the soundtrack is killer. Heavy on bass, almost bordering on funk.

I haven't played the PC version although people tell me that since the patch it works fine, but if you're just looking for an opinion on the game, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Singularity will probably be cheaper next sale. I suspect Serious Sam will be as well because I suspect they'll discount it when Serious Sam 3 comes out this year. Just a consideration if you have a backlog.

I figured that much, I was just surprised by the discrepancy between the value I associate to this game and what is considered a sales price for it.

If you want to buy Homefront for the SP, just skip it and get Singularity. It's the better, cheaper and more interesting game. I was really surprised by it.

Let me save you some time - GAF will say frozen synapse.

How are the NV DLC's? Compared to F3's DLC.. are they more like The Pitt or Mothership Zeta (crappy) or more like Point Lookout which was totally awesome?
Didn't play Zeta.

Honest Hearts is like a mix of the Pitt and Point Lookout. You have to complete the main questline to leave the area, but you can return anytime to explore all the locations you missed, and it's probably the best place to herb. They don't steal all your gear but you do have a weight limit (at least the first time through), so you bring only what you need when you begin.

Dead Money is completely linear in a sense but is extremely well written and is something like a horror-survival game meets heist movie themed DLC. You can't return after you finish, you are stripped of all your equipment but the DLC lasts at least 6 or so hours and arguably has the best companion dialogue ever (along with the main "villain").

Thanks - Doom 3 pack bought. My thoughts were largely the same as yours, just needed someone to break down the logic for me, which you did rather well. And I already have Trine - maybe one day I'll actually get around to playing it......

So, Doom 3 pack and Alpha Protocol for me today.

Fire and sword will be complete after the next 2 or 3 major patches, then it will be better then Warband. If you can wait a couple of months (play your backlog) for those patches then buy Fire and Sword now, if you cant wait go with Warband today get Fire and Sword on the next steam sale.

I had hope with the first four days of the sale being of no interest to me that I'd be able to make it through the sale without buying anything. But I got hit hard today.

Frozen Synapse
Trine
Bionic Commando Rearmed
Singularity or Alpha Protocol (haven't been able to make up my mind between these two yet)

Just one question does the second copy of Frozen Synapse expire? I'll still get it anyways I just can't imagine giving it away anytime in the near future.
