Is with fire and sword popular? I know some people don't really like the game but has or will the community migrate over, or should I be safe with just warband?

Also, since we're talking about Alpha Protocol, I should post this video:

Michael Thorton, Psychopath. (might want to close it 2 minutes in if you're sensitive to spoilers)

The neat thing about that video is that I never experienced any of that when I played AP. I chose to play as a suave smartass rather than a sadistic dick. The way you deal with people can alter the course of the game.

This video and your LTTP thread sold me. Glad I waited though.

Now I want this.

Can someone sell me on Stronghold? Earlier in this thread, someone compared it to Defense Grid and if it's anything like it, I want it.

Anything bad I should know about Alpha Protocol?
The first few hours are painfully hard, you don't hit a garage door if you're standing in front of it, because you have to level your fighting/aiming skills. It's first RPG, Shooter 2nd (or even third).

If you survive that, the awesome will not stop.

I'll just say this for anyone wondering about Singularity. The FOV is terrible (55?) and you can't adjust it. If you're sensitive to this kind of thing it WILL make you sick / make your eyes bleed and you can do nothing.

M&B Warband, why do you cost so much?

I would maybe buy you if I wasn't anticipating spending money on other sale items down the road and if I hadn't already bought two more expensive titles (Oblivion GOTY and Dragon Age: Origins).

:(

I really was interested in Frozen Synapse per release, but once the price came out I was meh. Can't decide what I want to do now with the sale price. I kind of feel like the game should have been $15 at launch, and then the sale price should be like $7 or something.

The plan by the developers is to make fire and sword like warband, it will take a couple more patches for that to happen, once it does Fire and sword will have everything Warband have. The community will probably start to move to fire and sword then. Either buy fire and sword today and wait or buy warband today and buy fire and sword the next steam sale.

It's $6.25. You get two full couples. You can give it away for free or hang onto it if you want, but there is a huge gaf thread for trading cash for copies, and I'm sure you can trade it for another game you want here.

I completely agree with your premise, though. It's not a very good way to move copies.

I can't even get through more than 30 seconds of the Alpha Protocol Psychopath video. That stuff makes me cringe so much. I can't pick the jerk options when I play a roleplaying game. It's just too much.

It was me, didn't really mean it was like DG, but it is sort of a TD game set in the medieval times, which is what someone was asking for.

You basically control a castle and you get attacked every 15 minutes to half an hour and in between those attacks you build up your defenses and economy.

Has lengthy campaigns with all the games.

Meh I always hated that as well. They tried to do this up sell gimmick but giving you an extra copy to "give to a friend". I'd rather just have the price be what it should be and let everyone buy it on their own.

It's all about being a real man.

That sort of history fiction trailer about North Korea gaining supremacy is cool, but how's the consensus on Homefront?

Somewhat decent?

I tried out a friend's copy of Frozen Synapse and was actually really turned off by it. I'm glad I didn't buy it when I was considering it and I'm not going to buy it now.

Still hoping for Gratuitous Space Battles and AI War to go on sale. Love me some space games, especially ones that run on a Mac.

Gratuitous Space Battles is 75% off!

Wondering if its worth getting the expansions with it? Lots there!

Oh, that actually sounds pretty awesome. Might pick that up later. Thanks!

The balance is out of whack, polish suffers in favor of ambition, the stat-based gunplay is kinda lame until you've leveled up your weapons, some of the boss fights later in the game are frustrating, and you can totally cheese most of the game with leveled stealth abilities.

It has a ton of issues, but if you're like me and you value choice and consequence, customization, characters, and branching paths in RPGs, you might just love it as much as I did.

Here's my LTTP thread. Note that it's very praise heavy, but I'm sure there are plenty of gamers here that feel it deserves it's mediocre metascore.

I thought the campaign was more fun to play through than Medal of Honor, Black Ops, and BC2, but that isn't saying much as those were all shitty campaigns.

Its not that bad at all.

I say it would bother you a bit if you are used to messing with FOV settings, but its perfectly playable.

The game's art direction is beautiful btw, couple of screenshots of my own from the first area:

With Serious Sam, any reason to spend $2 more for the originals, or are the HD versions fine?

I've never touched the originals, but I just played through HD1 a week or two ago and it was fine. Looked nice, played nice. As long as you know what you're getting into with the gameplay (loads and LOADS of enemies) it's a pretty good game.

I picked all the sarcastic options when I played through this game and Dragon Age 2. People have said that those options are a different type of cringeworthy, but I guess I'm that kind of a dick.

Can anyone give me the scoop on how to do this the easiest?

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II: Retribution
Promethium Summer - Kill 50 enemies while using a flamer

I own the game but never put more than 30 minutes into it so I'm a massive noob.

Play it safe with Warband.

The community isn't really going near WFS. There was a good amount of interest early on, until everyone realized that it was just a buggy and pedestrian mod that was sold as an upgrade.

What are the most substantial/valuable things you buy with the tickets?

  • Alien Breed 2 - A full game, and it's $4.99 even on sale.
  • Homefront Map Pack - It's not out yet, but it'll probably be several bucks when it is.
  • TF2 Glasses - YAY HATS!
  • Defense Grid Map Packs - If you didn't get them on sale, they're $4 now.
  • Men of War: Assault Squad Map Pack - $2.50 on sale, $5 regular.

It kinda just depends on whether you like the games how much value the prizes are going to have.

Mmmm, it has steam achievements and the icon in the library would be really nice (serious business).

I think i'll grab, that setting attracts me.
