- Hardcore mode. Selectable mode that gives ammo weight, making the player make decisions about what you need to bring out into the desert. Companions can die, meaning you can't just run into any situation hoping to survive. You have to drink water, or risk dying. The game challenges you, and challenges you to think before acting.
- Companions have actual character, back stories and plots attached to them.
- Factions sort of matter this time around.
- World with plenty of empty desert vistas, but still more discovery and exploration as the previous title.
- Feels more like Fallout, thanks to the setting, RPG elements returned via HC mode and factions.
- Much, much better writing.
- More bugs, though.
