Steam Summer Sales Thread: remember: you can actually play after buying

Children of the Nile is another great game on that list. It's not perfect by any stretch, it's slow, and it's kind of hideous...but its gameplay is remarkable and completely unique. If you're a city builder, definitely check it out at $2.50.

They followed up on some of the concepts introduced in CotN with Caesar IV but they didn't execute them nearly as well.

Steam's got more Transformers keys!
Make sure to get the 60fps unlocker, sooooo much better when you do. It's pretty fun and I'm not even that big of a G1 fan. It does alright as a serviceable TPS.

I don't think it's slow and it doesn't look as nice as Caesar IV, but I mean, it still looks okay.

Just used 3 tickets and got Alien Breed for free. Cant complain about that. Up to 9 tickets now.
I need 15 -18 tickets to get everything interesting to me. I got Alien Breed 2, the Defense Grid maps, the golder Beat Hazard ship, and 2 extra tix so far. I'd like the MNC gear, and a few others interest me. What seems like the best values there? I see some Sam and Killing Floor characters and such, but don't know which content is just skins and which is worthwhile.

Should pick up stalker, but not Clear Sky. (unless you've played the others)

I haven't played any of them! I'm brand new to PC gaming. I'm just hoping it goes lower than $13. I will totally buy it for that price, not complaining, I'm just hoping it'll get lower.

Anyone else had trouble launching Zombie Driver? Stuck at "preparing to launch" for like 15 minutes, other games work fine.

I think it's funny they offer Alien Breed 2. Gotta be some sort of plan to get people to go "I might as well get Alien Breed 1 then for $5!".

Devoid of anything I wanted in the daily deals for today, I picked up The Path, since I'm confident any of the indie games in my list already at 75% off are probably not going to get any lower (and if they do, I'm really not going to cry over so many nickles and dimes).

Since we're on it, I've bought the A.R.E.S. berserker suit, the Portal 2 snorkels and the SpaceChem DLC.

Future prizes shall include the Magicka DLC, the Winter Voices DLC, the glasses for Team Fortress 2, the Golden Ship in Beat Hazard and the Delve Deeper DLC (roughly in that order, the last two I'm not even sure I'd get the games they belong to, but they're the only two I could put in a maybe pile).

Does anybody know if there's a game in a similar vein to Stronghold minus the battles? I know the battles are the main point of the series but I've actually always enjoyed the aspect of building a village and managing everything about it.

Everything that doesn't say gear or characters underneath it is either small content like a map or quest, or an entire expansion pack, with the exception of Alien Breed 2 (full game) and the Assault Squad expansion (which for some reason is listed as gear).

And some more plus PixyJunket's suggestion.
I think you have Zen Bound listed as Zero Bound.

Otherwise, this is an awesome list but potentially dangerous for me on the final sale day. :)

any good mods to enhance fallout vegas graphics and gameplay ?

I want to know this as well. I didn't want to spend more than 10 bucks on any particular game but I bit on New Vegas since its such an expansive game, but I do want to get the most out of it.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. pops up pretty frequently during these sales. Hold out.
Chernobyl and Pripyat go on sale all the time. This is basically the first time Clear Sky has been discounted so i'm not so sure it will be a daily.

Edit- just seen he hasn't played the other ones.. Start with Chernobyl and Pripyat, definitely.

I bought Machinarium as part of the sale.

I can't seem to get the game to fill my screen. I've selected "full-screen" from the initial options, and I have my window size at 100% yet there is still a large black border on all sides of the game screen. The resolution on my Macbook Pro is 1920x1200.

This is a re-sized screen-grab of what it looks like:

Is this just a drawback of it being a flash game?

I'm playing on Mac, by the way, but I could switch over to Windows 7 if it fixes this issue.

Yeah, that's just how the game runs. Shame too, as that art would look great fullscreen.

Have any games that were not reduced at all become dailies?

I don't know, but some games that weren't discounted when the sale started, and aren't daily deals, are now discounted.

I got Machinarium today for $3.40, but for the first few days of the sale it was $10.

Servizio

I don't really need a tag, but I figured I'd get one to make people jealous. Is it working?
Aquaria should absolutely be on the hidden gems list. For $5 it's a steal.

Check out the Official Thread and an appreciation thread.

It's a metroidvania game underwater. Emphasis on exploration and combat against fishy creatures, all sorts of items and abilities and forms to change up your playstyle.

Starts out slow but once you get into the combat and finding stuff, it gets cool. PROTIP: The number keys let you change forms without having to stop and sing. This is so useful, I really wish I had known about it before I beat most of the game.

Buy this game.

Clear Sky sucks, but man if you haven't yet played Shadow of Chernobyl get on it. One of the best FPS games ever. And it's so freaking hard at the start, but once you get used to it then it's a blast. Call of Pripyat is good too.

I've got my fingers crossed hoping that SimCity 4, Trials 2, The Ship and Dinner Date all get discounted.

I remember reading about The Ship half a decade ago (if it's the same game), I really wanted to play it. How is the community?
