I would recommend picking up Guild Wars. $15 for all three campaigns is a great deal and playing through all three will take some time. The PvP is loads of fun and community is still very active. It gives you the freedom to play through solo with bots, in which you can customize to your liking, or to tackle missions and matches with real people.

I've put over 1500 hours into the game and still feel an urge to hop on and play every once and a while.

The game's art style and graphics are also very well done, especially when it can run on most PCs.

Can you also talk about what Eye of the North adds and if it's worth another $10?

Hurray, a day where there's nothing I want or I have it already. My wallet let loose a sigh of relief. :p

Never played Deus Ex; kinda wanna get it now because the new one looks awesome...

:O

Damn right you should. Also this sale prompts me to replay it t_t... I don't have time for this

Also anyone know of a really small demo? I'm using far too much bandwidth already.

I'm extremely new to PC gaming so I have just a quick couple questions if anyone can help me out:

1) Are there any graphic upgrade mods for Deus Ex?

2) Is Alpha Protocol worth the $4.99?

Picking up STALKER:CoP.

I already played SoC once before and liked it.

edit: wat

"Your transaction failed because you are trying to buy a game that requires ownership of another game you do not currently own. Please correct the error and try again."

Can anyone tell me why Clear Sky is so much worse than the other two? I am loathe to skip around in a series but since it occurs before SoC anyway I'm considering it.

Really, none of the Civ5 DLCs are worth it?

I asked this in the Civ V thread the other day. Consensus is that the ones with extra Civs are probably worth it if you want to play as that Civ, but the Scenario packs are not worth it. Probably going to pick up the Spain and Inca pack myself as I'd like to play as Spain. The others I'll probably pass on.

Games everyone should own:
Stalker series (If you get ANY of these, get Call of Pripyat and the complete mod. Call of Pripyat is a fps where you scavenge a wasteland that is out to get you at every turn, where the draw is the atmosphere and the journey. It's very good. It's also fucking THREE POINT EIGHTY USD. JESUS I'LL BUY YOU THE DAMN GAME MYSELF IF I MUST)
King Arthur (This is basically a Total War rpg about king arthur. It's really good)
Deus Ex 1 (this is pretty much the penultimate fps/rpg game that made its start on the PC. A little dated now, but heads and tails better than other games that try to be like it.
The Secret of Monkey Island (For adventure fans, these games are a must. They're the best in the genre.)
Beat Hazard (You like Asteroids? You like graphics and listening to your music? This game is the bees knees then)

Games that are meh, better off not buying:
Civilization 5 (maybe it's better after a ton of patches, but it's not nearly as good as CIV 4)
Stalker Clear Sky and Chernobyl (they're not as good as CoP, and the story doesn't matter as much to miss it)
Guild Wars Trilogy (if you have some friends or a guild, sure I guess, but Guild Wars 2 is coming out soon, so this is a bit of a waste of money)
AI War (it's a neat little game that's kind of like supreme commader in space)
Monday Night Combat (TPS tf2, just go play tf2 instead)
Shift Unleashed 2 (eh, theres not much that sets it apart from other racing games)
Wings of Prey (eh, it's a dogfighting game that looks pretty but I hear it's rather shallow. Save your money for something else, methinks)

Games that are bad, avoid:
Call of Duty 4 (it's call of duty, you don't really play it for the mediocre sp, and hardly no one plays mp compared to the other games)
Deus Ex Invisible War (Tries to be a deus ex game while cashing in on the console market, but fails in almost every regard)

REPOST DIS

I'm considering picking up Guild Wars. Is it worth getting the trilogy (ie. do they add considerably to the experience), or would the GOTY edition just be enough? For reference, the only MMO I'm playing consistently right now is Lord of the Rings Online.

Think I'm done with this sale, I pretty much got everything I really wanted in the first few days. My backlog is crying out to me.

Deus Ex, Beat Hazard, or both?

Whenever the option to buy Deus Ex comes up, you and everyone else should pick Deus Ex.

It's routinely in the top 5 on every best PC game ever list. Just do it and embrace the greatness.

YAY Stalker is on sale again! I won't miss it this time.

Only other Stalker game I've played was Clear Sky. I didn't like it very much at all tbh. I'm willing to try this one with an open mind + the complete mod
Clear Sky isn't so hot and I can understand if people dislike it. call of pripyat is easily the best one. Original game is good but really no need to play it if you can get pripyat so cheap. If you are still hungry for Stalker after pripyat then start playing the original.

Ok, I have a very important question ... please don't ignore me :(

I've always hated scary games (I am THAT bad), but I'd like to change that ... and the STALKER series always intrigued me.
Is it a good starting point? Or is it TOO scary?

To give you an example, I had to beat the hotel in Bloodlines with the lights on, in third person and without audio.

So what's so good about the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series?

No other FPS I've ever played has matched the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. atmosphere. The mods are amazing. And the infinite quests system allows you to play the game forever.

Agreed but I've been looking for a decent MMO and I've heard good things about GW. $15 for the triology seems like a good deal to me. What would I be missing out with Eye of the North if I bought the trilogy pack?

Eye is required to build points for Hall of Monuments, Hall of Monuments stores your accomplishments for guildwars 2, also Eye is required to transfer those accomplishments to Guildwars 2....

Yes, but that deal is gone.

Eye of the North is an expansion which expands the map of Prophecies (the first Guild Wars game). The expansion bridges Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2 and doesn't offer any major missions like in the other 3 installments. Instead, it focuses more on introducing the new races, quest completion, and dungeon crawling.

It also includes a "Hall of Monuments," where you can display items you've earned for points, which in turn, will lead to redeemable awards in Guild Wars 2.

Seems everyone is saying to try SoC first, then CoP.
But If you never played the series before, you really need to begin with the original Shadow of Chernobyl, no doubt. And then Clear Sky and/or Call of Pripyat. CoP better than CS in almost every way.
