I don't think so. The directory structure is actually different in the retail version, so I think it's an issue with it having trouble writing save files or finding files or something.

SoC had some slow loading times as well, which were fixed by the crack. These issues didn't used to exist, though, so they might have fixed it by now.

Oh, also, listen to your PSU when loading up STALKER, just for laughs. It's the only game that can make my PSU squeal a tiny bit. I've tried it on a Corsair 650TX, Enermax 625W Modu82+, and a Corsair AX850, and they all squeal.

Teksavvy?

5/0.8, unlimited bandwidth, $40 a month, DSL.
15/1, unlimited bandwidth, $55 a month, Cable.

Is there a way to make Deus Ex not have the worst mouse acceleration every seen in a video game? You can enable DirectInput and it fixes it, but then it breaks the menus...

Not as much. Only around the visible anomalies which are easy enough to avoid until you have a better suit.

Is it just me or are quite a few of the daily deals this time more expensive than they have been? Off the top of my head DMC4 was $7.50 last year and the two S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games most are after were bundled together for $5 before.

It's not just you. Average sale price has been steadily creeping upward for at least a year now.

Looks like I'm good. Only used 112GB in June, and so far this month I'm at 65GB.

The party can continue!

Only Satanic Communists would cap the internet, my God. I feel for you brother.

You are the first post that I've read saying this...care to explain?

There's almost nothing in the way of graphics settings. And IIRC a few places where it dips from 60fps regardless of your rig.

So between Capsized, Beat Hazard, and Alpha Protocol, I need a proper controller for my PC, my (excellent) Fight Pad isn't going to cut it anymore.

Does everyone just get the wired 360 pad? Is there a better/cheaper alternative? The Hori pad seems like it has a better dpad, but it costs as much as a wireless controller:

Then there's the madcatz pad, which is definitely cheaper, but madcatz...

lol, 250 GB bandwidth caps, thats better than the 50 GB one I have. Probably picking up Monday Night Combat (gotta find a 4 pack group first), Wings of Prey, Clea Sky, and Call of Prypriat (already got SoC off GFWL for 99 cents when it was on sale). Still thinking about Beat Hazard, I have it already from a indie game promotion for free, but having it on steam with the ultra dlc is tempting.

Best one to get.

Sounds better. I wasn't even sure what was going on at first.

SoC's pretty good so far, but the user interface is god awful. A contender for the worst I've ever seen in a video game.

I had the Hori pad and although it is pretty good and have a nice dpad the analouge sticks are a bit to high to be comfortable imho. The wired 360 controller is just perfect :)

I was going to double dip on SMB but it'd been cheaper before.

I played it for 15 hours and it never dropped from 60. I have two 465 in sli though, maybe that's why.

In Beat hazard is there any way to play songs that my friend has but I don't? Or do we have to both have a song indexed to play it?

360 pad is best because it is standardized and most games automatically configure for it.

If you already have a wireless 360 controller lying around, you can just get a wireless dongle for around $10-$15 on ebay. That's what I use and it works great and mine isn't even name brand.

Oh well, it's too late now

It's a good port. You can also force AA through inspector or whatever nvidia users are using. My friends all play with 4-8xSGSSAA. I can do SSAA or MSAA with ATI as well thanks to the method Sci posted a while back.

I haven't had any stuttering issues.

I'm running FIOS at my pad. No caps and I routinely get 3.0MB/s download rates on Steam and, on a good day, I've hit 3.5MB/s sustained rates. Ah, the wonders of fiber!

I've made a point of not downloading my recently purchased titles however so as to not frustrate the shit out of myself and others. Going from 3MB/s+ to 80KBps is more than a little rough......

Any good reason to not get Wings of Prey + DLC? 6.75 USD altogether.

No, I bought it at full price and think it's great.
It looks unbelievable and runs perfect.
Doesn't require a high spec machine to run either.

No, the dangerous "zones" are much less random in CoP. Generally, you will have a highly dangerous (chem, radiation, gas, etc.) area and artifacts within that you can get if you can avoid the anomalies and have a decent enough suit. There are a few random anomalies, but there aren't quite so many, and they're more visible than in SoC.

In some ways yes, others no. I was able to run in native widescreen res when I fired it up ages ago, no weird performance issues. The gameplay holds up, in fact, the design and writing is far superior to most recent RPG's, and you might even find the game's predictions about the future chillingly accurate (though exaggerated) playing it today. The game engine is based off unreal 1 I think, so it ain't pretty. But it's a gem and my personal favorite RPG, I'm sure you can get past the looks, it's worth it if you do.

I know quite a few people who hate cop because there's no random anomalies, though I'm not one of them.

Bought a stick for this though haven't played it. The amount of content is obscene for the price. It has Yuplay but you can play sp offline.

Damage today:

AI War Complete
Deus Ex 1 & 2
Beat Hazard Complete
Stalker: Clear Sky & Call of Pripyat

My god, I thought I set aside enough money for this sale but it looks very much like my Steam funds will have run dry before the sale is over.

What have you done?

Would it be bad to say I'm having slight buyer's remorse over SoC and I've only played two hours so far? :p

Haven't even touched CoP, it's still downloading, but I'm already feeling the same way.

What's so cool about Stalker CoP? I've seen some screens and videos but they didn't really let me know what the game is all about.

ok I guess I'll give it a shot. for something that outranks HL2 as the best PC game on some lists, it had better be better :p
