lol that 200GB cap or whatever Comcast puts in place seems mighty small now.

Factor in game downloads, streaming, etc

:(
They don't always care, but it probably depends on where you live...

My usage statistics were recently reset due to having to replace the cable modem, that's why nothing before June is shown.

My speeds from Steam have been around 700-900kB/s throughout the sale, I haven't had many issues with it.

Looks like just Beat Hazard - Ultra for me today.

I get 30MB down when doing a speed test.

On Steam I usually get 1-2.5MB. That was until the sale started.
So you have a 240+ Mbit connection? Where in the world are you getting such insane speeds? I'm pretty sure that 200 Mbit is max in Sweden atm. And no one is actually getting anywhere near that on a regular basis.

He's confusing megabytes and megabits. A 30 Mbit speed test = 3 Megabytes down in practice.

Nobody with Comcast is downloading 30 megabytes a second.
This.

A lot of folks are missing receipts or having receipts show up late (myself included). I would wait until the dust has settled and the sale has passed before worrying, unless you absolutely need it immediately as though you were some sort of responsible adult.

Good to hear...I was a little worried, I dont really need them but I wasnt getting steam guard emails either so I was thinking I might have been hacked somehow.

So - I missed the Civ 5 sale at GamersGate and have been kicking myself since then, but I held out hope that the Steam sale would give me another chance at a cheapish version of the game.

$25 is cheap of course - if I saw that price on a boxed copy at a store I'd be all over it... but knowing the digital version went for $11 previously makes this harder to swallow.

So I ask you GAF - Am I being unreasonable? How often has Civ 5 gone on sale? Is this still a good price that I shouldn't be balking at?

I know I know I made a mistake it's already been corrected :p

Where do you check that? And is it 200GB or 250GB cap? I am so confused.

Shaw in Western Canada offers 250mbps lines, which would be 31.25MB/s, for around $70/mo.
Are you fucking kidding me? That's about what you have to pay comcast in boston for a 1.3Megabyte down line.

Also doesn't shaw have like 150gb a month cap on it?

Comcast has 250 for residential so I got 2MB/s down for $90 on business so I could say "fuck you comcast"

Also if you go way over cap, you WILL NOT get called about it until 2 months later. So if they call you and you go over cap for 2 months before getting called, you'll get called the next month and they will disconnect you.

sigh... drm bullshit?

I don't think so. The directory structure is actually different in the retail version, so I think it's an issue with it having trouble writing save files or finding files or something.

SoC had some slow loading times as well, which were fixed by the crack. These issues didn't used to exist, though, so they might have fixed it by now.

Oh, also, listen to your PSU when loading up STALKER, just for laughs. It's the only game that can make my PSU squeal a tiny bit. I've tried it on a Corsair 650TX, Enermax 625W Modu82+, and a Corsair AX850, and they all squeal.

This thread is moving at the speed of light, so I'm sorry about bringing it up once again.

EDIT: Haha, ok I guess I hadn't updated in over 10 mins so I was just very late that time.

Comcast.com under Users & Settings. I think officially the "cap" is 250GB but we've gone over almost every month for the past two-three years I've been living here and never got a notice or complaint from them.

I thought it was just standard to have unlimited net in the US.

It was until about a year ago or so. Comcast is just super sweet like that.

I don't think any other major ISP's have caps. Maybe AT&T, not sure.

Am I blind?

I don't see this under Comcast.com

It probably would cost less in stores, and you might even get some DLC with it if the GOTY edition is availaible at your location. So no, unless you want to play it right now, it's not a particularly great deal. It's the largest discount it has had on Steam though, IIRC it was 40% last time.

Guess they're just waiting until the perfect time :p

So I changed my Steam email address a couple of hours ago and I haven't receive the final confirmation email yet with the link to confirm the change. Does it usually take this long?

I think there's something up with their email server. A few people have mentioned not getting their email confirmation from buying games today.

It's really a shame, I feel like ISP's advertise in Megabits just so they can use bigger numbers and purposely mislead consumers. No one actually measures bandwidth in megabits like that :\
it makes sense now why my speeds never match the MB that i thought i was paying for.

I hope they've fixed the Steam versions of STALKER SoC and CoP. CoP, in particular, loaded incredibly slowly (like 2 minute load times), and would freeze and stutter a lot during gameplay.

I had to download the cracked .exe for it to work properly. It then loaded in 10-15 seconds and ran perfectly.

Check the properties of your steam.exe and you will find it's running under xp or vista compatibility mode.Disable this.

Not just today, this complaint has come up at least once every day of the sale thus far, I think. It is definitely more prevalent today though.

The Guild Wars collection looks really tempting, especially because GW2 looks cool and I'd like to check out the original first. Is GW soloable at all?

Yes. Most people play it solo with customized AI companions.

I will have to try this out!

I guess maybe it was trying to access a different Documents and Settings folder or something in that case? Could be!

Yeah, GW is soloable. You can just add NPCs, and eventually customizable heroes to your party.

That's weird. I have gotten all of my email receipts so far and I've got something every day I think :O

For Shaw, you can see here that people were refereincing a 250/15 package:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=419867&page=41

Looks like they either haven't rolled that out yet, or have backtracked a bit, because 100mbps is the fastest now. Shame that Eastern Canada is still in the dark ages.

Rogers: 15/0.5 and 60GB bandwidth cap for $46/mo! What a deal!

Must just be the Edmonton region might have different offerings. I was originally looking at teksavvy because I hate a lot of the ISPS but although shaw is expensive I am getting 10X the speed as well as 100GB higher cap. In Edmonton the 50/5 is $75, the 100/10 is $85 and 250/15 is $115. The higher the plan the higher the caps as well. Those assholes at shaw sure are masters of getting 'just a little bit more'. $75 is already far more than I want to spend on my monthly internet bill, but if I can get 100/10 for 10 bucks more than why not, then if I can get 250/15 for 20$ more than that than why not? When it comes time to talk to them I have a feeling i'm going to walk away feeling buyers remorse but have a rockin connection. The make of break with Shaw is that they don't stoop down to the contract bullshit that a lot of othe ISPs in Canada are doing. Perhaps Teksavvy will get cable offerings in Edmonton sometime and I'll switch over to them in order to get my internet bill (and speed :() down to a reasonable level. Considering I get unlimited everything on my cellphone for 35$ except outside of NA long distance, spending 75$ on just internet seems pretty crazy for me.

I'm missing a gift receipt from whenever Hoard was on sale - I gifted it twice but only got one receipt. And I haven't gotten a receipt for anything I purchased since Sunday.

Haven't bought a game yet... but... I already own Call of Pripyat... but it's a physical copy. That requires the disc. Do I spend $3 and re-buy it and never worry about the disc again?

Do you own another STALKER game? The $3.74 is only valid if you have one of the other STALKER games on your account, otherwise it's like $7.50.

Does Call of Pripyat have radiation everywhere? Seriously getting annoyed by that in SoC.

Well those Shaw plans really do seem to be for power users. I mean, I'd probably pay $115 a month for 250/15, because that shit is just bonkers.

I hate being stuck with 1mbps upload in Eastern Canada. Makes it impossible to stream high quality video to others.

jj984jj

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
Is it just me or are quite a few of the daily deals this time more expensive than they have been? Off the top of my head DMC4 was $7.50 last year and the two S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games most are after were bundled together for $5 before.
