It's a good port. You can also force AA through inspector or whatever nvidia users are using. My friends all play with 4-8xSGSSAA. I can do SSAA or MSAA with ATI as well thanks to the method Sci posted a while back.

I haven't had any stuttering issues.

Alright cool. I have a pretty beefy rig so hopefully I don't encounter the stuttering or any other issues that were brought up.

I'm downloading Stalker Complete right now. I hope it improves the game as much as GAF claims.

It's night and day. Stop playing now, you won't be able to use your save files I'm pretty sure. Maybe I'm wrong about that though.

Would it be bad to say I'm having slight buyer's remorse over SoC and I've only played two hours so far? :p

Haven't even touched CoP, it's still downloading, but I'm already feeling the same way.
I hope you're playing with the complete mods

Fair enough. The biggest complaint I had was the user interface anyhow. If it improves that, I'll be happy.

Decided to get the first Deus Ex at $2.49. I've missed out on so many "classics", and from all accounts this appears to be one of them. Decided to hold off on the sequel though as I remember hearing less than stellar things about it.

Hopefully it still holds up today.

So far (with some help from awesome gaffers):
AC Brotherhood
NFS Hot Pursuit

Hoping for Settlers 7 and Dirt 3 (or 2) to get real cheap. And I might bite on Vampire too...

does Deus Ex hold up well? thinking about buying it. just worried it will have problems on modern hardware. i've never played it before, but people talk about it like its amazing

I bought it a while ago. Controls are clunky. It also tends to crash a lot for me on the first mission. My specs:

core i7 920 2.6ghz (I can overclock, but I tend to want stability over speed)
12 GB RAM DDR 3
Evga GTX 285 2GB
1 TB HDD
ASUS P6T Motherboard
Windows Vista 64-bit

Its one of those things where I can tell I'd like the skills/options the game gives you, but I'm not sure I want to fight with the controls/system crashes just to play through.

Thanks for the input about my Steam email change confirmation mail delay, guys. On hindsight, I shouldn't have changed my email during a Steam sale, but I had some concerns about the email I had been using.

That said, should I wait for the confirmation email to come by before I purchase anything? There's still plenty of time, but I want to know if it's safe to buy any of the deals if the email hasn't arrived by the time I have to go to sleep.

Gameplay wise it more then holds up, it does so much more then moderns games do. Graphically however it can be pretty rough depending on your tolerance for old 3d graphics.

I'd recommend updating the renderer though: DirectX 9 or DirectX 10

Is the Beat Hazard Gold Ship dlc prize worth it if I bought the complete pack?

Is it worth spending money/tickets to make your ship yellow? Seriously?

I'm not sure what Stalker game to start off with. SoC of CoP.. Downloading the complete mods for both but I can't decide.

Any thoughts on Foreign Legion or Nation Red, the two non-offer games up for achievements today?
Nation Red is a pretty neat top-down arena-based zombie shooter. They have added a lot to it through patches like co-op, online co-op and a bunch of modes. There is a decent amount of content there and it plays pretty nicely.

Is it nothing but a skin?

SoC takes a little while to get going. It gives a horrible first impression, but once you get some better equipment and get more involved with the various missions, it really starts to shine. Rough overall--CoP is the best one, IMO, and has a better interface, as well.

Talking about these games makes me want to play them again...so damned good.

It's a glorious skin. I'll never go back.

Seriously though, it's just a cosmetic change afaik. I don't get lost as much with it though when I'm playing!

I actually was enjoying SoC right out of the gate, user interface issues aside. But the UI was god-awful.

I'm surprised to hear all of the praise for CoP, I always got the impression that SoC was preferred. I haven't played much of CoP yet, but SoC was a pretty awesome game aside from the x-ray engine crashes and the rough ending.

Stutter city and I believe the frame rate is capped.

Orellio said:
There's almost nothing in the way of graphics settings. And IIRC a few places where it dips from 60fps regardless of your rig.

I get a constant 60fps with no stutter or dips. Also it doesn't need graphic settings because it looks and runs great by default. That's with a geforce 460.

Honestly, I would start with CoP if you want the best first impression of the series. It is still rough, but the most polished of the three, and more refined. There is continuity of plot between all three games, but IMO, it doesn't really matter.

Much of the complaints from SoC and CS were addressed in CoP.

Defence Grid maps are mine thanks to my latest ticket from Foreign Legion. It's nice how that crashes after showing the scores for each match.

I'm only at 23 dollars for now. I've picked up Killing Floor, Serious Sam Gold Edition, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Cheronobl. Let's see how long that lasts.

Any chance at all of Puzzle Agent 2 going on sale, beyond 10% off? It's a few days old, so I doubt it... buuut better safe than sorry.

King Arthur sounds extremely appealing but is there any way to play the game in co-op?

I would settle for MP style of co-op where you can make alliances with your friend and bash on some AIs opponents like in Total War Shogun 2 or Civ games.

Just waiting for some confirmation before co-op before I pull the trigger because it looks like a total steal for that price !

If you have both, start with SoC definitely. A little rough around the edges, but you'll appreciate CoP more for it. Also the main character from SoC ties into CoP a bit at the end so, yeah.

I wouldn't count on it. But it can't hurt to wait and see.

I haven't either...no big deal
It's not, and I only delete them when I get them anyway, but the fact they've stopped seems pretty strange. The games are on my account, so I'm not concerned, it's odd though.

Thanks for the Wings of Prey impressions.

Looks like I'm just spending lots of money today.

Only thing I'm worried about is missing the sale all together. When does the 10% off end? I mean, I missed out on PSN Plus for free, and then they extended it and I STILL missed it :[

CoP is certainly a more accessible game.

Also, absoluteky make sure you install the Complete mods for both games. It makes them much, much better (especially the first).

You'll start enjoying the first game more once you get scoped weapons. You're probably finding guns frustratingly innacurate at this point, right? Don't worry...things will get better as time goes on. If some things annoy you, like limited stamina, limited carrying ability, or weapon/armor degradation, don't be afraid to mod those out of the game!

In the release announcement they said it would be 10% off through the duration of the sale, so you're good. But I took that as confirmation that it won't be going any lower as well.

Just force it: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=27916242#post27916242 (high res thread warning)

There are 3 users (ATI/Nvidia/Nvidia) on this page that do it :)

Oh, I did. But it would be preferable if it were an in-game option.

Yeah, fuckit. I'll just buy it. Worst case scenario is I spend a couple bucks more. (I don't see them discounting further, if they do it won't be more than 50% off)

About the receipts:

Valve PR Dude said:

And

They may be worth saving on your email, however you cannot use them as proof of purchase when reclaiming a hijacked Steam account. It is good to always keep all CD Keys that are registered on Steam.

This FAQ explains what you should provide:

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2268-EAFZ-9762

Interesting, but in any case that's for a hijacked account, I don't really see that happening.

Main thing is that your account button in the top right is the TRUE real deal area, if it's there, you own it.
