Which of the Civ V DLC is worth getting? I'm willing to get 1 or 2.

none

unless you already played with all the civilizations and feel like you need more

and the maps arent really worth it at all

i mean dont get me wrong, i fucking love Civ V, but the DLCs are still too expensive for me to care.

Stalker is probably the highest profile PC exclusive series outside of Blizzard's stuff. I think it's synonymous with PC gaming right now.
You've gotta be kidding me.

This is hyperbole and only representative of your short experience.

Tracking stuff on the PDA didn't even work properly. The button appeared to be in the wrong spot. I ran into an anomaly and died at the start of the game, with no indication of what an anomaly even was. Tutorial messages ran through menus and often disappeared before I even got to read them. All this occurs even with Stalker Complete installed.

I won't even comment on the numerous issues that occur without Complete installed.

The actual gunfights were pretty cool, the exploration was pretty cool when I wasn't running into anomalies or radiation.

Is Clear Sky any good, or should I just go with Call of Pripyat? (I already have the first for quite awhile, haven't gotten a chance to play it really. Did like what I had played, though.)

Ok, radiation is killing me Stalker. Where can I get radiation medicine? And equipping artifacts radiates me?

Call of Pripyat over Clear Sky, definitely. Then go back and get Clear Sky if you just gotta have more STALKER :D

You can trade with any NPC, most should have an anti-rad or two. And later in the game you'll get better armor that has radiation protection so you can use artifacts more.

Maybe Valve's output?
Not PC exclusive.

Drink vodka or loot bodies for anti-rad kits. You can also trade for it from most people.

No where near finished.

Might just wait until they get discounted further.

Plus I'm almost broke...

Does any recommend the Monkey Island SE?

I heard one or two things all positive but what does GAF have to say?

If you like adventure games, or if you were ever a Monkey Island fan, it's a must have. Great updated version, I loved them.

hey guys,

i saw some guild wars discussion a few pages but i still have some questions.

i've never played an MMO before, i've played PSO but that doesn't really count i guess. is there a huge learning curve i'll never figure out?

i tried WoW on trial, but warcraft lore didn't appeal to me and i didn't like the graphics style very much. does GW have an interesting story? i mainly play games for story so idk if i should start playing MMOs.

i have no friends that play MMOs, so will it still be enjoyable?

what happens when the servers shut down with GW2 comes out or whenever and i have it sitting on my steam? does that equal just an unplayable game?
I never played Guild Wars, but when it comes to gameplay, I'm guessing it should be similar to other point and click mmorpgs, where you just select a target, let the character auto-attack and use skills that are bound to the skill bar.

Anyway, in an off-topic note, since you played PSO, have you already seen this?

Real man just drink Vodka!!

You will later find artifacts with -attributes to the radiation.

Any opinions on Nation Red? I'm thinking about a 4 pack with friends. It looks interesting....

I picked it up for a couple bucks in a previous sale and had a decent enough time playing with a mate. Doubt I would go back to it too often however.

does it have 3 player coop?

Someone should set up an AI War OT, or bring back one if there's already one. It'd be nice to get strategy tips and try co-op.

What series would you suggest then?

EDIT: I guess CoH is up there.
Going explicitly off what series is the most prolific is kind of silly. The most popular PC exclusive games (Terraria, Leage of Legends, etc.) receive massive amounts of content updates removing the need for sequels. You're essentially creating a very small subset for STALKER and declaring it the winner. It isn't very popular, and it certainly doesn't approach the realms of popularity of stuff like Civilization, Warhammer, Age of Empires, Amnesia/Penumbra, HoMM, Guild Wars, and probably a bunch of other stuff that simply slips my mind.

The game clearly has it's issues, but nothing prevents you from playing/completing the game. I didn't play with mods until my third playthrough, mostly because I didn't know they existed.

I played the game for 1 hour a few weeks ago and was so frustrated that I deleted it.

Then, I played it for another hour and was so enamored that I sunk 6 straight hours into it. It was as if something just clicked in my brain and the shooting (which was the most frustrating part for me) just worked itself out. Suddenly the flaws were outweighed by the awesome setting and how completely devoted the creators of the game were to getting you interested in that crazy fucked up world.

For what it's worth, Call of Pripyat seems to be a much better game already, and I'm only a few minutes in.

Yup. Once you finally "get" the world, it's mechanics, the customization, avoiding enemies, night fights, etc., most is forgiven.

And the ending to SoC is probably one of my favorite of all time.

Stalker 1 sold over two million copies, if Terraria is 'most popular', Stalker is obscenely popular.

And I'm not creating any subset, I'm not making any objective claim. Maybe I should have put 'for me' in the post, but I wasn't declaring any winner, I was just stating to me what the hardcore PC gaming software is, and Stalker is essentially it. I'm not even saying it's great. I've had very limited experience with the series, and I'm not crazy about it by any stretch, EP2 and Crysis are immeasurably superior for example, but they don't stand out as what PC gaming means to me, Stalker does.

Stalker Call of Pripyat takes at least 3-4 minutes to load.. Somethings not right. Steam isn't running in any compatibility mode either.. and thats one of the only fixes I see from a google search.

Whoa, I hadn't switched to grid view in a while and after a couple of hectic days of sale, it looks so perfect.

On an unrelated note, Foreign Legion is an utter piece of shit, avoid at all costs, that zombie car game is loads of fun, as is Nation Red (although I feel like I've played it 100 times).

WHAT?!
Crysis(1) is far more synonymous even if it has a mixed response from people...

I played Call of Pripyat for five minutes when I bought it several months ago.

I walked in to a building, the guy at a door asked me to put away my weapon and I had no clue how, so I was pressing keys until eventually I dropped my weapon and thought "Hey, progress."

Then a dude in the room just walked over to my weapon, picked it up, and walked away.

I followed him to confront him outside and then he shot me. With my weapon.

I should really play more.

I gotta say, I'm not digging Stalker at all so far. I'm not doing anything but fucking around, throwing bolts at wavy air.

I'll just go ahead with the main quests.

I was playing Rainbow Six (and Quake III arena online!) on my Dreamcast and none of the gameplay was dumbed down at all. You still had the same mission planning and execution that the PC offered, just with Dreamcast Controller (which is inferior due to no second stick). To say the gameplay has to be dumbed down around a controller though, is just wrong. Developers choose the level and complexity of the gameplay, not the controller.
The gameplay WAS dumbed down, whether you recognize it or not. Being aim assisted into kills is hardly on the same level of complexity as this.

Developers are ENTIRELY hamstrung by the limitations of the input devices they are dealing with. That you would actually argue that they aren't is simply ridiculous.

Yeah that's the problem I was describing. I was only able to fix it by getting the cracked .exe. =\ I have no idea why some of us are having this issue.
