So, NeoGAF, what has been your best purchase of the sale so far? That is, if you've actually played any of your sale purchases yet.

I’ve only made two purchases: STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl and Beat Hazard, and I made those purchases this morning before I went to work, but I did play the demo of Beat Hazard and it was pretty cool so I guess that one? Stalker I’ve never played and youtube videos didn’t really excite me, but people seem to like it.

I'm never going to be able to play stuff like Killing Floor without controller support. Moving around with the asdw and being expected to also hit al the other keys over there just isn't something I can do. Is there an easy quick way to get this Killing Floor achievement so I can put this thing back to bed?

works on PC

Killing Floor the bundle or just Killing Floor the game? I dont care about extra skins/costumes, is there any reason to get the DLC then? Also saw that you can get one DLC with the summer camp tickets anyway.

Even though it wasn't a daily, I'm gonna have to go with Terraria. It's like crack. 9 hours in and I still have a lot to learn but I went from burrowing holes in the ground to building a pretty pimp mansion. It's stolen my attention away from all of the other games I've picked up.

Darksiders for 5 dollars. It's a bit ridiculous and sometimes has slowdown on my laptop but it's a lot of fun. Also got Borderlands/Tropico but haven't put much time into them

No reason to get any DLC if you don't care about costumes, although the ones you get with tickets look the best anyway imo.

How is GTA IV performance on PC these days? I remember people weren't happy at launch. I've got 1GB Radeon HD 5770.

Do you have a triple core CPU or above? If so you should be fine. I ran GTA4 on my PC with my 5770 at 1680 x 1050 and got around 40-50fps.

CPU is really important, as well as VRAM.

At least a quad core.

You can actually get away with a triple core. I went from an AthlonII X3 to a Phenom X6 and there was barely any difference in FPS. But yeah, definitely 1GB of VRAM.

How much time do you have to put in on average to make enough money to buy that item?
Depends of how well you do. Since it costs energy to do about anything in the game and you only get 100 energy per each 22 hours (unless you buy more with real money) it's possible to not get 3000 in a day if you mismanage your energy.

With that said a single run through Tier 1 should be enough as long as you kill every enemy on sight. You can't probably do the second half of Tier 1 so I would just redo the upper part when you get mid-ways (you'll know when you get there since it's clearly a transistion floor).
I'd say 60~120 minutes if you never played the game (due to the tutorial). Though I might be overshooting it, haven't played the game in a while (outside of getting the acheivement)

The more you die in a run the more expensive it is to ressurect yourself so sometimes it's best to just go back to Haven and restart from the first floor.

SpaceChem easily. Though that might change when I get around to playing Frosen Synapse.

Just Cause 2, for sure. So much fun for so little dollars. I've bought a ton of games but haven't really played them because of Just Cause 2.

I've spent over $200 on the sale so far and SpaceChem is the best out of all of it.

Hope it pops back up on the last day of the sale heard a lot of people saying good things about it.

I'd have to go with Bit.Trip Runner. Absolutely fantastic game and it plays excellent with the 360 pad.

But my real highlight of the summer sales are the daily achievement challenges. Specifically, the TF2 achievement for jumping into water while on fire. I've owned TF2 since I bought my first widows laptop (M11x) last year but I never really played game. I reinstalled the game to get the achievement and I've been hooked ever since. Such an amazing game, I can't believe that I ignored it for so long.

I have a sandy bridge i5@2,3Ghz 2410m, goes up to 2,8Ghz with turbo caching. Is that good enough for GTA4? graphics card is 540m which is doable for medium graphics on GTA4 if Youtube benchmarks are anything to believe.

Kings Bounty is mine. Loved FFT so why not. Still waiting on Amnesia which is the one I really want.

Casualties so far:
Witcher 2 $30ish
Oblivion complete $8ish
Darksiders $5
King's Bounty complete $7

Have not played any of them yet LIKE A BOSS!

Damn. Gotta wait until I upgrade. I've dual core processor. Thanks.

My specs are similar, minus sandy bridge. I get about 30 to 40 FPS on medium/low settings. It still looks better than the xbox version.

OK, I have a kind of big issue as I don't know what to do. First, I live in Europe. I was on the beach earlier today and was kinda bored so I turned on my Kindle (with 3G) and entered Steam store to see today's deals. I immediately noticed that prices were given in USD! I didn't decide to purchase anything, but it'd be kind of a big deal if it was still dollars during the cash-in. Did anyone try to buy stuff from Steam that way? Finally, if it's possible to buy via Kindle in US dollars, do you think Valve could potentially ban me for exploiting it?

It'd save me a lot of hassle (no more paypalling anybody from the US) and money if it was possible. Keep in mind I live in a poor 3rd world country so I can be a little cheap lol.

Appreciate the great response! A couple of hours isn't that bad, will do it.

I was trying to decide between GTAIV and Batman AA, and ultimately I decided on Batman. It's such a great game.

Day 1 (06/30/11):
Back to the Future ($12.49)
Lead & Gold ($1.50)
Medal of Honor ($10.19)

Day 2 (7/01/11):
Just Cause 2 + All DLC ($7.22)

Day 3 (7/02/11):
Magicka Complete Pack ($8.49)

Day 4 (7/03/11):
Torchlight ($2.99)
Tropico 3 Gold Edition ($4.99)

Day 5 (7/04/11):
Alpha Protocol ($4.99)

Day 7 (07/06/11):
Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY ($7.49)

I almost bought The Sims 3.

I have no interest in the The Sims 3. I guess I just wanted to see what the fuss is about. But no . . . I'm not gonna buy the damn game for that.

I'll probably buy the vanilla version later today. It is a disease.

Here's hoping for Saints Row 2.

If it's a low enough price I'll look past the poor optimisation (according to some).
I didn't have much problems with the performance or any bugs but the fucking game KILLED MY SAVEGAME!!!

fuck this game :(

Have you played it with those specs, because I'd say run for the hills.

at 1080, nope, but:

It's a 15.6 inch so it maxes at 1366x768. I can do with 720p though :D

go for it. You should be fine with mid settings

I played it back then at 1440x900 with a 9600gt 512ddr and a 2.5ghz dual core, framerate wasnt perfect but it was totally playable, i had fun.

Atom Zombie Smasher's kind of neat! I found myself yelling at the little yellow dots to run! Gooo! Get to da choppah! It's kind of like a really dynamic tower defense game with elements of missile command and a little bit of RTS. Imma buy.
